I can't believe I haven't watched the majesty that is shrektober until now. But, this game is my childhood and you made me go back and play it again and yes, the only thing I distinctly remember was the friar tuck's fat boy song and that opening scene about the milk and cookies. Fucking amazing game, I'm so glad that I'm not the only person who's ever played this game. Thanks for the blast to the past!
MILK AND COOKIES?! YOU MONSTER! This is a great game in short bursts, for sure. I definitely don't feel it has lasting power in the same way that, say, Smash Bros. does, but playing it a few times with friends every couple months could definitely be a blast with the right people!

I loved this game when I was younger. It was always a lot of fun with friends. It's a shame about the slam system, I never liked it (even as an 8 year old) and always would've preferred a basic health system or something. It pretty much only had one flaw in my mind and it was for sure slams, otherwise I loved how it looked and played and sounded and the story and Dronky was OP! Good review, honestly this felt so professional and well made :D

I want you to know this review is equivalent to playing melee with items on with timed mode and saying it's dull because the main goal of the game is just to knock your opponent off the stage more times then you get knocked off..... But I understand this is aimed at people who have never seen this game and not our competitive scene. I'll drop a sub though.
I don't know if that analogy applies here, to be fair. There's a significant difference between playing one game mode and choosing to ignore the rest - as I'd be doing by reviewing Melee only by Timed fights with items - and playing the only game mode that exists, but in slightly different ways as is designed by the developer! That's not a shot at SuperSlam by any means, I'm just judging exactly what's given here. I didn't do everything, I'll be the first to admit that! The game has a ton of content to it in that Challenge Map, but from the research I did it allows players to move past, to use your analogy, timed Smash with items no matter how much more you play. Perhaps this is an aside, but doesn't the SuperSlam competitive community have to mod the game to remove items during the tourneys? To give the game a pass in that regard because the competitive community has found a way around the game's limitations a decade after the fact isn't really fair to the review of the game as it stands to anybody who plays it on GameCube.
The Golden Bolt's Game Reviews ehhh it's been so long but from what can remember I thick it was Pinocchio, humdy dumpy and gingerbread man i had it on my computer And for the challenge mode I actually beat like 90% of the challenges and somehow my computer broke so the game was lost forever and I haven't played the game since which was like about 7 years ago
Damn, that sucks. I could see the game being fun enough for me to go through all the challenges back in the day, though, for sure. Nowadays, though, it didn't hold my interest all that long. Also #Gingy4life lol

One of the better Shrek games alongside Shrek 2 on console (called Shrek 2 team action PC). Also, the gameplay is surprisingly in a lot more depth than honestly any normal person would see.
For sure! It's definitely got some hidden depth to it if you dig around, although like many smaller-budget fighting games, that depth has a clear ceiling.
I enjoyed the video length and a golden bolt for presentation?! +1 The slam moves could easily have been improved by implementing distance based slams for kos like smash does. I feel like they were too afraid to copy smash and the replayability suffered a lot for it. "Trash bear?" Man you really have a garbage selection. Is that really a wii u game?
There's a lot of simple touches that could've gone a huge way with this game, for sure. And yes, that's a Wii U game. Don't judge a book by its cover, though...

Personally I enjoyed this game, mostly due to sheer nostalgia. This was a fighting game I played before Smash Bros.

Sadly yes we did have to resort to modding and I agree with most of what you said in the vanilla version of the game.
