Hey Johnny, not sure if your familiar with the term cherry beach express. In the seventies the cops used to take detainees, suspects and people they wanted to teach a lesson to, down to cherry beach in the wee hours of the night and beat the crap out of them. There was even a song written about it on the radio by a Toronto band. One victim garnered a six figure law suit settlement so it wasn't just folklore as some people of toronto thought. Your walks generate so many memories of toronto past for us older citizens. Thanks bro, take care 👍
I got a bone to pick with you Not-so-friendly boys in blue When you come out of the station and into the street Everybody beats a hasty retreat Well it was late one Friday, I'm a little bit wrecked You're on your way "to serve and protect" You buzz out of the cruiser like bees from a hive And ask me if I want to 'go for a drive (go for a drive?) That's why I'm riding on the Cherry Beach Express My ribs are broken and my face is in a mess And a name on my statement's under duress
The Keating Channel Pub was a nice little restaurant and place to have a drink, when I use to sail around that area and frequently visited many of the landmarks around the new development. The Otter Harbour is minutes away….as well as the lighthouse bike riding trail.
Here comes the beautiful Johnny Strides! Good day to one & all! Thanks very much for your much appreciated narratives on Toronto's goings on! Are those bridges there to add beauty to the area which, perhaps, was an astronomical cost that could have been used towards the mega project. At least, there will be affordable housing being built but how much of a low cost will it be for ordinary people looking for low cost housing which, unfortunately, many need. Thanks again for this very informative walk, beautiful Johnny Strides, take care of yourself & keep safe! Cheers! 🥰🥰🦅🦅🦅🦅
.....reminds me of the 80s, when i used to bike through Parliament Street/Cherry Street, along the barren fields of industry, skip through the Spit, to get to the Beaches, then back.
th-cam.com/video/l9TOQX9MOKc/w-d-xo.html Are you going to make the same comment to Waterfront Toronto? In fact, I've never heard anyone use any other pronunciation for Villiers Street/Island than the one I did. This isn't Quebec, give it up.
Thanks!
Thanks Dennis!!!

They did that in the 90s too. To the street folks (squeegee kids and homeless punks).
I remember the stories about cops beating guys up at Cherry Beach.
Thank you so much for highlighting this project, JS! Have lived in T.O. for 30 years, and had never heard the term Villiers Island before.
im excited to see this area finished!
memories of the knob hill farms that was there in the ealy 80's before the t & t supermarket.
Great job Jhonny and absolutely loved your beautiful sharing and you doing such an amazing job .. million thanks from Montreal QC

Keating Channel Pub is still there and open.
I love just canada❤❤❤,i love just toronto❤❤❤❤
good morning everyone
Thank you.
Enjoyed this walk. Interesting to see this new development.
I agree with you actually. They should be installing streetcar tracks right from the gecko.

Knob Hills Farms supermarket? I worked there briefly. What a zoo!
That was an interesting, unusual walk. Area's gonna be pretty once summer hits full swing.

Municipal planners need to use more porous stones around trees to give them as much access to water as possible.
That trolley setup makes Boston's MBTA Green Line look like the joke that it is.
many thanks. will be Ebiking in the area soon. ps. I believe Cherry St. draw bridge designed by same person who did the San Francisco Bay bridge.
Interesting walk. Never been down here before
I think that green bridge is where they dumped photobooth over in police academy 1 :)
That is, indeed, the same bridge used in that scene in Police Academy (1984).
Interesting!
Johnny gteat to see this new developments of quiet area to live on lakefront up cherry street did not know of this.😊
To mitigate future flooding, the Don River should be dredged deeper. Open to comments on this idea.
Good morning Johnny
Nice
I'm sure once it's all built out it will look amazing but it looks very dystopian right now.
That opening shot was very Geoff Marshall
I don't know who that is lol
How long did it take you to walk to Cherry Beach?
I did it in the video, about 30 minutes.
17:55 Johnny Trespasses... almost 😏
lol
I saw Beady Eye at Polson Pier
ps. take a trail ride eastward along the water to Leslie.
I've done that in the past in multiple videos in the other direction, I'm sure I will again :)
Google maps still showing an hour walk from where you started lol
lol
ما شاء الله عالأمان
👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
I feel like people are gonna put graffiti on the white poll very soon🙄
:(
Be nice if u got the pronunciation correct. DONT anglicize the name Villiers!! It's not ' villierrs'...It's.." Villyay" So typical of Toronto.
