I was standing right there next to the guy filming...29 years ago. Hard to believe. The poor woman who owned that house was right there watching as well. Terrible.
I'm sure many ships sank also as a result, and it is very very sad. 😢 My childhood island was mauled by the storm as well. Was way scary. No school for a good while.
I drove to the Gloucester shore to witness the waves and they were unbelievable. You had to see it to believe it. Houses were capsized and boats were submerged like mini bath tub toys. Large 2 ton Granite rocks were lifted up and over the shore wall and pulverized the cement streets and sidewalks like dust. It was an Awesome spectacle. The Perfect Storm's destruction Looked like that of an F5 Tornado. Simply Amazing!! ⛈🌪🌬🌊
What a crazy two days…. Just down the street on Shore Rd me and a group of friends watched a house get smashed to bits in just 2 waves… we all ditched school first thing and drove all over town until they finally succeeded in closing all the main roads in and around the outer perimeter of the island….. you couldn’t really get nowhere near the shore after the first 6-7 hours unless you lived nearby
amazing electricity still provided till the last gasp of air . perils of seaside living i guess?- very sad for all those folks who had to witness this disaster with no way to defend mother natures fury
Rip to all who lost their lives to this storm

Wow, thank you for sharing Travis!
This must be hard to see and relive. I'm thankful she was out of the house and that you are safe and still here.
Horrible, horrible scenario.
This is beyond terrifying. Nothing scares me more than the ocean.
It's hard to believe that 30 years has gone by.
Nice footage glad I stumbled acrossed it brings back memories
Thank you Mark, we recently stumbled across it too. 👍
It's so sad the Andrea Gail sank killing everyone onboard

A Nova Scotia buoy recorded a wave height of 100 feet.
Wow. I remember
That was quite a day
you should see some of the wicked surges that happen here in newfoundland
A truly devastating storm. Thank you for watching this archival footage, Craig.
Sad how they lost that nice home and old car
An extremely heartbreaking few days in the stoic history of Gloucester and Cape Ann.
Mother nature does not mince words
This act of ...geoengineering (?) obliterated my little island of City Island.
I bet it's all built up now and more people

Terrible tragedy
I can’t believe some laughing while people’s property being destroyed.
Sad we lost George Clooney so soon
32 long years.
