This 3D camera might really take off. It is a modern digital version of the 1952 View-Master personal stereo camera, but much easier to use because you don't have to mount tiny pieces of slide film. The viewing experience of a View-Master like viewer is the best way to see stereoscopic 3D, and this camera makes it easy to quickly view your photos and video in an immersive way.

@1:30 , you dont actually need a 3d viewer, you can view it 3d with naked eye using the same technique we used to look at sterograms

You can also cross your eyes while watching this video to see a 3D image when the two, 2D images are on screen.
I own a realist, sputnik, and lots of 3D related photography equipment. I might pick this up.

Simply buy 2 identical and cheap GoPro-like cameras and mount it to something. You will get a regulated base.

You know - with the Vision Pro being "Apple's first 3D camera", it made me wonder if you could even get 3D cameras in general these days as they briefly popped up back when I was in Year 8 (2010) then faded out as quickly... So this answers me question! 🤣

If you want to get an idea of what it looks like, pause the video when he's got them side by side, cross your eyes while staring at them, then focus on the middle image.

Ego camera saves Left image on the left side of this SBS (Side-by-Side) pair, so cross viewing will not work; only parallel viewing gives correct depth experience. Such SBS arrangement of L&R pair (Left on the left side) is useful because it's viewable straight from the camera (without any need for post-processing) in VR headsets, or 3D-capable TVs and projectors.

    • @RetepNeSigret

Philaw is correct, when you cross your eyes you'll see three pictures, the middle one is the combined left and right picture

There were a lot of 3D gear 12 years ago, after Avatar was released. Sony camcorders, Fujifilm 3D cameras, some 3D-lenses etc. But for most people it was too complicated. Now most new TVs even don't support viewing 3D. Maybe VR headsets with its native 3D support will rise this technology again

Have you tried using an advanced VR headset like the Quest 2? I wonder if it offers superior viewing to the built-in qoocam device? I can watch on my phone via a cheap VR headset and the quality is ok. But one can see the pixels or something. I don't see pixels with the built-in headset. But the picture is rather small and it's a bit uncomfortable to stare into..

"others" (as kandao says), have 55-65 ppd, and qoocam ego 75. so probably from the viewer, the pixels are more than quest 2.

The viewer doesn't work for me. It's designed for people with an interpupillary distance of 65mm, give or take a couple of millimetres. If you have an IPD of 58mm, like me, you'll see blurry images combined with eye strain.

1080p60 is useless in VR. I had a 5.7k30fps interpolated and 4k60fps Vuze XR 360 2d/180 3d with gyro stabilization. Even 4k60 is not enough in VR. The minimum is 5.7k60 fps real fps non interpolated. So this camera is a child toy, not a real serious camera. I can tell you immediately..Sorry but i have good experiences in this domain. Trust me. And i was watching on a Samsung Odyssey 2800 x 1680 oled 90hz VR headset. I have very powerful computer to render and i was using plugin specific to VR to inject titles and customize the image base. Photo 3d was very good at 5.7k, not enough resolution at 4k. Video 5.7k was good but the 30fps interpolated was more a 15fps. 4k60fps was smooth the resolution 4k is mot enough in VR even in a 2k VR headset. The best result are in 8k30/60 or 6k30/60 with gyro data to stabilize the footage.

Yes, in the sense that you can view your images and video in 3D in the metaverse. This camera is not VR180 though, so it won't cover your entire visual field, but there are pros and cons of the VR180 format.
