An important factor that wasn't examined at all is the Middle East. Turkey has active war theaters in Iraq and Syria, and the Kurds there especially hate them. Internal instability could arise, and the large Kurdish populations in the Eastern parts of Turkey could rebel. Turkey would have to divert its forces to the East, giving Greece breathing room.
6:10 the Greeks weren't beaten, but betrayed. All of our former "Allies" changed sides and started supporting the Turks. The British ordered us to stay outside Ankara for a year, weakening by the day, while they were negotiating the oild fields of Mosul. Once they secured that, they helped Turkey kick the Greeks out
11:50 The Turks didn't fight against Greece in Cyprus, they only fought against the locals and a small volunteer force. Also, 20k people died, not just 3-5k
there is no guessing in wars , this is fundamental , Greeks wont be bullied by Turkey fully proven in all of our history that noone gets a nice time invading our territory . I am Greek so I know they ll pay such a heavy price they ll remember it for another 5 generations and they will ask for help again like they did during Greek massive winning in Minor Arsia
a couple of things that you missed and if you research deeper you will understand that Turkey cannot invade Greece neither by land nor by sea. A) currently Greek air superiority is only going to grow bigger in the next 5 years. B) Greece can deploy all its navy in the Aegean sea where as Turkey's navy is not deployed in the area (only fractions of it), the rest needs to come out of the straits and eastern Mediterranean, and even then Greek navy has the upper hand since they know their sea way better then the Turks (in a narrow sea full of islands that is important factor especially when you have a few submarines lurking around). C) Turkey's superior numbers in land forces are not fully available, they cannot bring all the army to Greece since they will have problems from the other side with the Kurds, Syria and Cyprus, and even if they bring all of them, where do you thing 2000+ tanks from one side and 1000+ from the other side will fight? have you been in Evros borders? you can literally see the border of Bulgaria with Greece from the sea. You think they will squeeze 3000 tanks there to fight? that will be interesting! In other words, It is not a winnable war for neither side, it can be a week maximum of shootings and stuff but with no gains for neither side. Not to say that Greece has no ambitions of any gain, I mean in your video you say Greek army can take Istanbul? seriously? how? Even if the residents of Istanbul throw rock at them, they will never be able to enter the city of 20 million people, let along occupy it.
Shallow analysis , will be huge mistake for Turkey to attack from the river It's easier to caprude some islands and to wait greek army to attack in Thrace
@border_lore I'm not going to make a video but I will tell you two things, Greece is a mountainous country, if you've seen the movie 300 the Persians could only pass at thermopoly the nero passage, it's the same thing after the evros river there is only one passage and that is why the Turkish army would get massacerd there because Greece is there and waiting. Now for your second mistake Turkish can't take any Greek Island because the Greek army is there, Turkey does not have enough boats to transfer it's troops, the massive Greek army is waiting at the shore line. That's why you don't know anything and are assuming that Turkey will beat Greece but it is the opposite Greece have the upper hand that is why Turkey only do the barking.
Interesting. Two things to consider. First, the Germans were able to break through Greek defenses in World War 2. Admittedly, their military was more advanced than the Greek forces of the time (and the Italians flanked them in a pincer maneuver), but it shows historical precedent that the choke points you mentioned may not be as iron clad, especially when confronted with a much larger force (which Turkey is). Second, there is a debate over the vulnerability of the Greek islands near Turkey's coastline. They would be difficult to reinforce if Turkey (with superior airpower and naval assets) focused there. This is setting aside specialized paratrooper forces and merchant navy.
@border_lore Firstly Greece did not have ammo to fight a second war with Germany it was not because the German army was more powerful like you think, Greek Army was experienced from the menny wars we had in the region like grecoTurkish war Balkan wars and that is why Greece retrited and lost. Second if you have 30 thousand Greek troops on an Island the invader would have to equal it or the have no chance of survival and I don't think Turkey can do that with 5 ships you think they can but that is what you think and paratroopers is a bad idea they are the easiest kills, Turkish navy have no chance in agean sea every Greek island is an aircraft carrier and lastly Greek airforce has the best pilots in Nato alience with modern aircraft like F16 block 72 or Rafale and soon F35 I don't think Turkey have a chance of survival with Greece, Turkish airforce have old F16 block 40. But it's ok my firend everyone learns, in war there are a lot of things that count that you have to see before going as history has shown in the past like the first allie victory in ww2 if you know.
Army numbers is the least important variable determining who would win. Take for example the difference in Air superiority that Greece has now over Turkey with the latest aircrafts it bought. This analysis is a very simplified one that does not do justice to the complexity of the power dynamics and the variety of drivers that would determine a possible end result towards either side.
