Thank you for this, I normally make powder-horns with horns, but I need to call my ancestors with this! Fantastic work... Best wishes from an Englishman in a French forest. 🏆🇬🇧⚒️
I have a question. (It might be a silly question or it might have a complicated answer that is to do with physics) How does the maker of the instrument know exactly where to make the holes in order for it to make exactly the correct musical pitches.
Not a silly question at all. The hole placement is more or less to suit the size and shape of the players hand, as you can see him do in the video. The actual tuning is done by enlarging the hole diameters and adjusting the "flare" of the hole and depth of the hole. All of this is done while playing and checking the intonation either by ear or with an electronic tuner. Fine tuning adjustments and pitch bends etc. can be made while playing by using the left hand to partially close the "bell" of the horn in the same manner as a modern French horn. I hope this helps!
this is instrument has indeed a scale, or notes that can be played. within variance. and the tunes being played are probably to the taste of the maker. Not consistent necessarily on to the other.
That shop 100% smells like complete $HIT. 😂 Burnt horn smell from grinding and sanding from all the heat is horrible. Especially no mask breathing that dust partcles in. Remember he scratched his a$$ with that thing and picked at it as well as others..😂 As a kid I took deer horns to my dad's table grinder to make projects etc. Smell filled the whole barn.. 😂
6:38 - BE CARFULLLLLLLLLLL !!

What's the scale on the bukkehorn?
bukkehorn comes from a time before scales
this is instrument has indeed a scale, or notes that can be played. within variance. and the tunes being played are probably to the taste of the maker.
Not consistent necessarily on to the other.

That was freaking cool
i want to mak eone myself. is there a rule of thumb ore in percent at which heights you place the holes? i know the theory behind it.
I would also like to know.
Hva heter den første låten?

It is a goat horn. That is why the name is Bukkehorn, because bukk is a word for male goat.
Are these instruments available for sale?
Yes, trough the last link in the description, there you can order many different old instruments. Including the horn
while he was making it (testing the sound) , it kinda sounds like when you drag a chair on the ground :P
Music name?
Spelet i bakgrunnen er ovleg dugande
Hola soy de México y me interesa un Bukkehorn como puedo conseguirlo
www.naturinstrumenter.no Sale cerca de 500 dolares
Website no longer in use
Minecraft really got me lookin at this cool stuff
I wonder do the goats have to to die, or do the horns fall off naturally?
you can remove the horns without killing the horned animal but im unsure whether that would affect the quality of the instrument
mika probably won't affect the instrument, but the goat will have a harder time to survive.
I came here after seeing goat horns in the upcoming Caves And Cliffs Minecraft update
Interesting
Hope magnar makes me horn one day. 🙏
Wow, awesome
