The way you feel about shortstop defense I feel about CF defense. “Infielders save hits, outfielders save runs”. That said I tune in to watch mh2 play CF. Dude has multiple gold gloves in his future.
Yes too many stars lost but I'm still very happy watching the ones on the field grinding it out. I tune in for the team, I'm a team member by heart. I admire the heart of this team daily. Win or lose this is my team. Gooooo Braves!
I am enjoying this team so much as I don't think we'll ever see anything like this again. I don't think we will ever see a season again where were starting 3 to 4 players have been designated for assignment in one starting line up. It's for the Braves to win when they are healthy. Yet; were finding a way with this team to come through and win. Justing being in a playoff race at this point is so exciting.
Call me weird but I'm actually really excited watching the replacements come up to bat, I'm a big fan of the underdog story and this might be some of these guys only/last chance to play in the world series. I'm pulling for them in every way, always love seeing my guy Arcia up to bat as well even if he's streaky he has fire.
Austin Riley is my favorite player on the team, but since he’s been out I don’t know if there’s anyone in particular I’m keeping an extra eye one. I love watching the pitching staff as they have been the saving grace for this year’s team. I continue to have the hope that Olson is going to go on a tear, but not much time left for that. He’s been better overall the last month or so, but he just hasn’t gone on a two or three week heater like he did so often last year.
I tune in every game because I am a fan of the team not for any particular player. However. I must admit that, when Sale is pitching, I pay more attention. I am so impressed with him and the way he handles himself on the mound and in front of the mike. Like you, the 1-0 loss to the White Sox still upsets me. As an older baseball fan, I still think a lot of the win stat and I had wanted him to get to 20 wins.
Sale, Lopez, Schwellenbach and Fried pitching. Hitting really no one this season after the first half besides Ozuna and Riley but Riley is down now. But love the Braves and will watch no matter whether they are good or bad. I enjoy watching Harris' defense and some of Arcia's. Also wonder each game Morton pitches how many batters he will hit.
Every bat makes me nervous every time right now. All the pitching staff has been fun and hopeful to watch but I'd say Iggy is the 1 I've looked most forward to watching. He has been absolutely incredible
They’ve lost almost every single game I’ve went to the last couple years, hopefully they can beat the reds today. Was happy they won while you were there Jake!
To answer your question on who am I watching on offense: I had football on TV and the game on my phone. Once Sale left, I turned off the Braves game and just watched the Steelers game until that ended and Braves went to extras.
I would be bunting and make some adjustments in my batting swing and stance he's got to lead the league in hitting into DP. I know he's not that fast but this is worse than hitting 200 to me , shortening the bat should give him more hits because he's going to start finding the hole between SS and 3rd ,I would drop a bunt just to stay out of the DP ,I believe he may still have an injury, something is not right,I think he's playing in pain, just can't tell where it's at may be the mussel strain still bothering him.
and yet he calls the game behind the plate for sale and it makes for a great pitching performance. everyone wants their catchers to be hitting machine but really they aren't that because they have to manage the whole game behind the plate. murphy calls a much better game than travis does. the only pitcher on the braves who calls his own game is max fried.
it's less about him being "awesome" and more about people having to point out to fans that catchers are much more than a bat. What they do behind the plate is far more important for anyone who doesn't have a fantasy baseball mindset. Also, did you miss who got the walk off RBI?
Spencer Schwellenbach is at 142.2 innings and he has never done it before. I thought they were going to shut him down in the 130-140 innings but they cannot afford it.
I think Schwellenbach being an athletic guy, one that played at a physically demanding position at short has really helped him. I think if he was a just a pitcher in college, it might be a different story, but it's hard to say sometimes. If you look at Chris Sale's past, he went from being a reliever in 2011 throwing 71.0 innings, to throwing 192.0 innings as a starter the very next year in 2012.
@@MassBoost "Schelly" was a two way player in college and was reliever never tossing more than 30 innings. Players are different what may ne true for one may not be for another and in this particular case I don't think it corralates as Sale was not comming from a TJ. @@eros587 I get the whole him having limited innings bit, but just his conditioning in general is probably way better than most pitchers out there. Though he might have not been pitching a ton, he was still on the field every day, making plays, and throwing the ball as a defensive player, one that likely sees more plays than most being middle infielder. I think that has played into his favor.
The Braves bullpen blew another possible win for Chris Sale. How many does that make now 3 or 4? Tired of hearing how good the Braves bullpen is. Luke Jackson says it all.

Incorrect, he has hit .236/.339/.436 since the start of 2023, so you're falling short on his average. Also he's beena 113 wRC+ hitter which is 13% above average offensive production because he has a 10.6% walk rate, and a .200 ISO, so while his batting average is slightly below average, his walk rate and power is well above average.
@@anunnakin So what's the point of posting incorrect details about a player you hate? Just to attempt to try and make them look worse for some odd reason?
The Braves don't need Whit Merrifield. In 2024 he's hitting below replacement level. Whit - .217/.313/.315, sprint speed is 90th percentile. White - .308/.357/.538, spring speed is 92nd percentile. Williams - .211/.302/.289, spring speed is 79th percentile. White also has a neutral baserunning value and a positive fielding value. Both Luke and Whit have at least 1 negative value. The only value that Whit has over Eli White is k rate, walk rate and, plate discipline. Though, for the record, Eli White has a better walk rate in AAA than Whit does at MLB so it's not like he has a poor approach. Just his time in MLB in 2024 has been few and far between. I just don't see any argument as to why Eli White isn't starting every game. Maybe he's terrible but so are Whit and Luke Williams. At minimum he'll play great defense and is one of the fastest players in baseball.
With the Braves Merrifield is hitting above replacement level with a .243/.359/.342 with a 103 wRC+, and his defense has been good, thus he's been a 3.5 fWAR/600 PA player with them.
