You can easily tell how much Christian is holding back after some of the questions. I believe he is a great person and an amazing player. Get well soon !
Not a Dees supporter but always love watching this bloke and how he goes about his footy. He would've been just as good in the 80's and 90's as he is today - true footballing DNA!
I would like to hear what they went out with thinking though. I heard they were revved up to take Melb out. Though Moore isn't known for dirty tactics I thought.
I knew a bloke that had a very similar injury and he came close to dying. This man is as tough as they come and to see him get so emotional is actually inspiring.
Petracca a competitor and got a lot of courage, going through rehab from an injury is challenging but ive got no doubt when he's back to come to the field he's gonna be the same beast he is now, entire footy world is behind you tracks
I am a Pies supporter who was there and we all gasped and it looked awful. I rewatched it after to check Darcy Moore hadnt done it deliberately...i couldn't see that it was but from what we now know...that was near fatal. We need to do something about this rule though.
Moore has also been in the spotlight for the use of his knee in marking contests that contributed to the punctured lung suffered by Melbourne star Christian Petracca and a fractured a vertebrae for Gold Coast captain Jarrod Witts.
Petracca is an amazing athlete/footballer of the highest quality. He could retire & enjoy the fruits of his labor. Well done young man. We r all thinking of ya..
Makes me feel physically unwell watching the footage back. This was an absolutely disgraceful episode for both the afl and Melbourne footy club to allow this to happen
As a health care practitioner it makes little sense doing all vaccinations in a period whilst the body is in crisis mode. Putting more strain on the immune system whilst it is healing is not logical. Why not wait until the spleen heals considerably, then possibly vaccinate. Besides the body will not loose its entire immunity to all vaccinationable diseases. I feel for Tracca, hope he gets back quickly and doesn’t suffer from myocarditis🙏
@@monlomjampa 25 years in practice, there is a difference between healthcare professional and a salesmen of big pharmaceutical companies. Would be happy to debate you on how the body functions and why vaccinating whilst the spleen is in trauma is not such a great idea. If you had damaged a muscle in the gym (say a grade 3 tear) would it make sense to then go to the gym and put the muscle under the extreme loading or give it time to repair first and slowly reintroduce exercising the muscle? Seems pretty logical to someone who has any understanding on body function?
I have had broken ribs a couple of times in my life & it hurt's a #$&%@! bucket load & you cannot breathe properly. I never had the other complications, thankfully, I'm sure that they are much much harder to diagnose. Christian was obviously VERY committed to the/his club & his team mates, SO BRAVE. The club doctors should NEVER allowed him to go back on the ground even for "just" having broken ribs OR rib. The are trained medical professionals, he is not.
If the AFL doesn't do an independent inquiry into this situation then it will be failing the players. The players are the number 1 priority to this entire organisation, all they seem to care about is their back pocket and reputation.
I just been shaking my head so many times since that day. I'm dumbfounded how club doctors allowed him to go back out there. None of it makes any sense to me that this was allowed to happen. I have no medical background but it looked to me at quarter time that he should be off to the hospital as soon as possible. Especially when in the same league we had Tom Lonergan incident not so distant in the past. That was what popped into my mind straight away so I just do not get how an actual professional medical person at the club could be less concerned than me just watching on. If he was a family member of mine, I would have been going off at their club medical staff for sure.
@@shaundgb7367 I saw some other footage, not even this stuff and even just from the other grabs I was in disbelief that anyone thought he was safe to play on. This footage is even worse. We need a better system to protect these guys.
Disappointed in the club, Pert and Goodwin pushing the players so hard to the detriment of their players . Look at the spin that immediately came from Pert is what has infuriated the supporters and members with little regard for Christian , his family and partner. Or was that the multimedia team ? Nobody has come out and said : “we made a blue . We are apologise for our heartless behaviour. “ Times have changed and the new age players need that emotional connection and support. This is where the older leaders Pert and Roffe have missed the whole point . Get better Christian!
Obvious just from the eyes of Petracca Of course, Darcy Moore had NOTHING to do with it Not unlike Barry Hall on Luke McPharlin...NOT a lot of courage involved by Moore/Hall
Afl medical staff and procedures across the board Definitely needs desperate reviewing! The AFL singed off on this is a joke, there needs to be serious ramifications and compensation from the AFL and Melbourne for what they have put this man through let alone his family. This can never happen again at anytime.
The physical injuries will heal but the emotional trauma of knowing he let his captain down with some of his efforts post-injury will haunt him forever. At least Gawn is able to laugh about it
He is such a good man, a superstar player and an all around wonderful human.
Full marks to Petracca he is a man's man and as good a footballer as you will see.
An excellent young man, on and off the field, glad he's on the mend, wish him and his family all the best.
0:12 is so disturbing
Best of luck for future and is injury free.

Christian is a champ. Did he lose his spleen or did the doctors save it? Im very surprised the doctors let him back on the field.
Barely saved it. had the highest possible grade before losing it.
