    I've been listening to Blind Curve a lot recently. The fellow in the front row's reaction as Blind Curve (proper) starts, is one of the most touching things I have ever seen. It's as if the song really connected to something within him from years gone by. Even though this is a "Fish" song, H really shines on this one - and it's one of the rare ones that works equally with both singers and eras. Outstanding.

    This is THE Fish-era Marillion song. I really like H's voice in those old songs and it's amazing how these guys are so consistently amazing. What other band can play like 80% of their (huge) output on rotation live at this level of musicianship?

    • @progmeup

      @Israel Duque Interesting though to observe that both Rothery and Kelly have used vocalists on their solo project that are closer to Fish in timbre... (Martin Jakubski & Oliver M. Smith)...

  • @mymala108

    Don't get me wrong: I love also the Hogarth era Marillion but still: I think that this is the one songs that should be performed with seriousness and for memory of John Mylett. To be honest I don't know if this is something that really should be done, or is there sorta an agreement that this song may be performed on a happy note - that's basically all on Hogarth's judgement. For me, this was and is one of those sadder Marillion songs that has a known history of departing someone in final way. I can understand that this was not something Hogarth composed, but my initial guess would be that if Fish would perform Estonia, he wouldn't do it in taunting smiley way as Pete is doing this song 5:30 onwards. Seems that he is amusing the younger folks standing there in the audience and that's just great, really. And still I just love this song and everything Marillion had done so not a biggie, I maybe over reacting. I and all other Marillion fans are blessed to see two sides and eras of a great progressive rock band. Fish was great heads - Hogarth is now showing us the tails. Maybe I need to just sit back, relax and enjoy the ride they are giving :)

    • @mikaelbjornson2666
      @mikaelbjornson2666 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I couldn't agree more. Thats an absolutely tone-deaf stage performance from Hogarth. Whats with the gddmn hand gestures already? FEEL the song or dont do it.

    • @progmeup
      @progmeup 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I'm not seeing it like that. The themes come naturally to Hogarth, he's written just as much about topics like that (see: the entire AOS album, 3 Minute Boy), and reliving some of the most trying times every night on stage has been emotionally draining for him, so I don't see why he isn't allowed to take it a bit more lightly.

    Jeez that solo was effortless for Rothery, just rolled off the guitar. H is beautiful singer, but the song belongs to fish, its too deep, you needed to have been there, its that hidden element that can only be conveyed if you had been there.

    This is Fish's story....not Steve's. Hogarth may know the lyrics, but does not know/understand the heart & soul of "Misplaced"..only Fish knew from his personal experiences. Watch the Fish interview on the DVD "Return To Childhood". He goes into more detail on the genesis of "Misplaced Childhood"...the drugs, the Berlin hooker, the pseudo silk komono...etc. I couldn't see Fish singing selections from Marillion's "Brave" concept album. Does not click. Would have been great to see a one-off gig with Fish and his old band mates perform Misplaced in its entirety.

      So Bruce Dickinson shouldn't perform songs like 'Iron Maiden' of 'Wrathchild'? Almost every band that exist such a long time got a new singer once along the way. That doesn't mean they can't perfom their back cataloque. I'm glad Marillion still performs these great songs, and H does a great job.

    • @progmeup
      @progmeup 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      On principle I agree, but Marillion have always fiddled around with sections. The demo version of MC still has "Lords of the Backstage" as part of side 1 and "Vocal under a Bloodlight" missing. And many live albums only have "Mad" written on the tracklisting when in fact it's "Wave", "Mad" and "The Opium Den", maybe even the second half of "Standing in the Swing".
