Beolit 12 Repair Tutorial Replacing Battery and Door Latch / Lid Catch

You love your Beolit but the battery needs to be replaced and/or the door latch is broken? There is no battery available from Bang and Olufsen (B&O), however, there are companies replacing the cells in the battery pack. Check out akkuplus.de/Ak... (non-affiliated link).
For the Door Latch I kindly contacted Bang & Olufsen (see contact details below) and they requested me to send the serial numbers of my two Beolit 12 speakers. Guess what happened: They sent me two DOOR LATCHES FOR FREE!! I did not even have to pay shipping! Try that with your no name mobile speaker after 9 years!
In this video I show you the steps of disassembling the housing for replacement of the door latch assembly and the battery. The steps should be easy to follow even with no explanatory language. Take care when detaching the compartment in order not to bend the metal grill too much. And take your time when detaching the door latch (black part) from the compartment. You may whish to make use of a third hand in order to simultaneously bend both snap tabs opposite to each other.
Do not overtighten any of the screws.
As you can tell from the infrared-receiver on the front the speaker, I filmed the repair of the Beolit 12. Please note, that the successors Beolit 15, Beolit 17 and Beolit 20 have a different battery and may be designed slightly different. So please take even more care when referring to my video in connection with the younger Beolit models!

The part for the door is a Push Release Catch, which is also used for waste bins from Brabantia, for example. You should be able to find a replacement on various platforms using the search terms. There are several suppliers on A…zon, the dimensions appear different, but it is always the same component - always fits Brabantia. It's strange that one of the most expensive designer loudspeakers uses such a cheap, unsustainable part...
Installation is very simple - there's no need to dismantle the Beolit: you can use a small screwdriver to prise the push release catch loose on either side. The new one is then simply inserted.

I ordered them from A..zon Germany from a manufacturer namend Operitacx. But as I said - there are similar parts an they seem to come all from the same Chinese plant.

hello I would like to know where you bought the part for closing the door of your béolit 12 because I have the same problem it is broken and in France I cannot find it bangolufsen no longer manufactures it, thank you for your answer
it was then provided for free by b&o Berlin. I do not know. whether these parts are still in stock…
Fyford Fyford found out that B&O products Beovision 6 and Beolit 15 used the same latch. Did anyone find sources? If so, please post here!

Sorry, that thing is from 2012, there was no USB-C at that time. Pick Beolit 2020 for USB C!
Did you get the latch / broken black bit from Akkuplus?

I just found out that the Beovision 6 uses the same latch... still searching. Also looks like the Beolit 15 used the same latch... the search continues

Если после отключения АБ её снова подключить, то что бы колонка включилась нужно сначала подключить её к сети 220В!!!

@@garlp Я просто заменил элементы в родной АБ, с помощью программатора сборосил циклы и установил другую номинальную ёмкость.

Sorry, I do not. Since being quite fagile, any B&O employee should know "the black little broken thing" in the Beolit compartment :-) Try and call the Beolit support in your country and kindly ask for replacement. Mine were even shipped for free. Good Luck!
