Wouldn't it be easier to just do one or two bars and then copy and paste the rest ?
More important question, without a midi is there a way I can use my keyboard for the notes on the instrument ?

    • @JustDaNorm

Yep you could do record two bars and then copy and paste it or turn it into a groove clip.
Hmm are you wanting to use your keyboard to record midi or record audio?

@@darrellpidgeon6440 you might want to change the octave shift on your mid board. Normally the notes B, C, D, and E are reserved for two bass drums and snares drums on midi.

What im looking for is to record midi on my piano then change the midi voicing to any orchesta/band instument. That should be an easy thing to do when working with midi but it doesn't look like cakewalk has this ability. Is there a workflow for this?

    • @JustDaNorm
      @JustDaNorm  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

Yes what you do is record on an instrument track using whatever your virtual instrument you want to use like Cakewalk TTS or other type of plugins.
Once you record midi you can change it to any sound by changing patches on the instrument you use.
In each track there is a midi tab that allows you to change bank and patches. You also can just change the sound in whatever instrument you use.

@adobo1976 what sounds are you looking for your pieces?

Yo man great vid. Question for you and anybody here...I have an interface (ASIO) I plug in to my PC that is used to record Guitar, Bass and Vocals. I got no issues with it. But because I cant properly record a drum kit, I got to use the SI Drums. When I pull the SI Drum suite up and test it all out, I can hear it. But as soon as I drag over a pre-recorded beat(.wav file) into the track it doesnt play sound. I can see the bars but it aint playing back to me. I checked all the common stuff like Echo On, Master recording. etc.
When I create track, ive tried both Audio and MIDI. Neither shows sound. Its rly messing me up cuz I am weird...I always like to do beats first, then add my bass and guitar riffs. So its a huge roadblock for me.

Hey James, I hope all is well! Thanks for the question.
When you add a drum loop, are you dragging it into a midi or instrument track? The drum loops will not work in an audio track.
If you are using midi/instrument track. You should either hear sound from General mid sounds, or if you use instrument track you can add an instrument like the SI Drum Kit to it which should allow playback.

i really hate daws man, theyre the only thing demotivating me, ones too expensive, ones too simple and ones too complicated, and i dont even know how to make a single sound that isnt a keyboard (sample) and i dont know how to get instruments/samples outside the program, this is the only reason i hate making music, can never make it because of these stupid daws with such major flaws

Sorry you are having issues with DAWs. What kind of music are you looking to make in a DAW?
There are a bunch of free instruments outside of DAWs you can install and use. Just depends on what sounds you are looking for.

Quick comment: When doing these videos, please stick to the content. Don't go into showing me how to use the piano, the settings......that's not what I came here for. Stick to the subject at hand. I came here to record AUDIO from a vst, without doing a midi track. This didn't help me at all. thanks.

Thanks for the comment. This video focuses on recording virtual instruments in Cakewalk. It’s a combo of an audio and midi track.
There is no way to record audio from VST with out midi track as cars require midi data. To make it complete audio you have to freeze the track or bounce it to an audio track.
