I drill, and ream the covers and install a 250 hard steel pin, so you have locating pins in the block before ever removing the front and rear covers just like gen. 1 sbc ! Saves you from buying tools that you may use once!
I think this is the most gorgeous engine you guys have ever built. As far as I am concerned I don't really care about the rest of the car. The engine is the heart of it all. Kudos to you as well as your sponsors (especially ARP).
I gotta say, the LS platform really is easy to work on compared to lots of other engines, even ones with less cylinders. Placement of essential functions is my hypothesis for why. Ease of access and simplified everything. Sure makes me want to do a swap.
Nothing. These bling builds are SEMA builds. No need to be concerned about anything else. Intake runners are usually sized for the operating range of the engine, short runners are usually used for high revving (7k+ rpm) engines. If power curve was the intention, this would have been better off with a Fast intake.
I would love to see a 100+ HP per liter "moon-tune" full send N/A build one day (in this case, 600hp for a 6.0L). I know the LS7 from the C6 Z06 can get there somewhat easily, but seeing it in a 4.8, 5.3, 5.7, or 6.0 would be awesome as well.
Wow, some serious coin into that street LS 410. The induction, accessory drive system, and fasteners alone would break me. Probably not representative of your average hot rodders engine. But hey, who knows? Some people love alot of bling. Impressive looking and has an incredibly flat broad power band. Would be perfect for a heavier oldschool musclecar.
just the rotating assembly from Summit cost $2700. not including the heads, induction, front accessories, ignition OR labor costs. I'd say $13k JUST in parts
LOL. you said "nifty" Frankie. You're darn tooting right too. That's a sweet balance that long ago wouldn't have been messed with. The only thing you n Pat need is a Spintron. I'd like to see a comparison of dyno runs between this ITB vs A long tube plenum intake both being mpi basically it's the airflow that will show up.
I don't get it. You advanced the camshaft to lower the power band yet installed a short runner ITB intake, which enhances high RPM performance? Please explain.
WITH THE RIGHT GEARING....HIGH TENS IN THE QUARTER ARE POSIBLE.......ONE THING YOU GUYS NEED TO LOOK AT WITH THESE STROKERS IS PISTON SPEED....A318 HAS A PISTON SPEED OF 1750 FEET PER SECOND AT 3000 ROM..IF MEMORY SERVES ME....A 360. Great st engine, doesnt need 7000rppm or boost. This would be hard to hook on the st as is anything more is a waste Would have liked to see longer runners for this stroker. Pat are there whipple blowers for a Gen 1 sbc?
That will put it to the ground nicely. My ls2 403 stroker with a ysi head laid down over 500 ft lbs of torque at 2600... Absolutely zero traction. Hated it because it ruined the average light to light and made my car a 70 roll only. My mistake
I love the program and watched it from the beginning. I for one though am sick of chevy engines getting shoved into everything that they don"t belong in. If it says Ford on the front then put a Ford in it. If it is a MOPAR don't make a Mochit out of it. Keep it a MOPAR. If it is a Pontiac then put a Pontiac in it. You balanced without the flywheel? And why didn't you through the dampener on the front to get a good reading with that after all was said and done? I don't want to harp on you guys, but those double and triple checks can be the difference a masterpiece and a giant paperweight.
Throw some timing into it like 32 to34° then it will be in the mid 600 range.seems that all of ls builds end at 28°.I've built a 417 that made over 700 on pump gas
I got a question.... Can the same combination or similar, be applied to a ls 383ci. stroker with the same intake and about 10.5-1 compression? And still have similar results!
Helluva set up with ITB ….. question…… How much to purchase this engine from you guys? Or an estimate of what it would cost? BIG UPs from Dallas, Texas 🤙🏽

LMAO, diamondfire, it doesn't increase power, it might slightly help with fuel economy.
Those slight dished pistons were simply because they wanted a street (meaning pump gas) friendly engine. Their final compression ratio was over 11.1/1, so it's definitely not lacking. Not even really boost capable unless you wanted to run only E85 or higher. Those kits have an option for more dish to get compression ratios in the ~9.5/1 range for boost though, so that's an option if boost is the ultimate idea. But since these pistons aren't directly comparable to the stock set, you can't just judge by the dish/flat/dome numbers - these are a completely different piston from stock. ;)
hey pat shoot the sob with Nitris put twin turbos and a super charger as well hit the switch and hold on oh what liter engine size is the lq9 is that the 6.2 by chance please let me know thanks
In this business you will receive many many opinions from other people. Most of whom are not qualified to give such opinions. I was told by another professional engine builder that if I was going to do this for a living I had to have very thick skin. I soon found out what he meant by that. The more you win the more other engine shops talk trash. And mostly it's jealousy. HOWEVER I am more than qualified to give you an opinion and I only mean this in a positive way. And let me just say your parts list although it may not be NASCAR quality was very very good. I realize this is a street engine, but I think you are lacking a lot of knowledge when it comes to building serious horsepower for the street or Racing for that matter. I don't mean this to be mean or disrespectful so please don't take it that way. We are living in a time where people don't have to search and Hunt to make every ounce of power like we used to 30 years ago. People simply click online and order parts that make 500 or 600 horsepower without even trying. The skill to acquire such large HP numbers is slowly being lost. What I'm saying is given the exact same parts you just used, I can come on that show and build that engine using all my tricks and skills and make 150 more horsepower than you did and safely turn it 8000 rpms. And that is the skill set I'm referring to. People have no idea how many steps were left out that would have accomplished the numbers and RPMs I am talking about. Now, I understand your point to this build and its purpose and I also realize you may not have the time or even the know how to spend such time in creating an engine of that magnitude. But trust me, using your parts it could be done easily. Anyways, I do appreciate your videas especially trying to keep the hot rod world alive. Lord knows our youth need something to be passionate about besides the CURSED CELL PHONE. On an engine like that with a slight camshaft change, slight compression change, and a little more N/A induction, it would be possible to make 950 hp, so with that being said, using your combination and degreeing the cam in a different way, and using a little different camshaft numbers, making 750 hp should be an easy task with your parts. But hey, it's a nice engine so keep up the good work. Semi retired Salter Racing Engines Engines have powered: 6 nascar track titles, 15 national land speed records, pinks all out winner, multiple drag racing championships, tractor pull records, hundreds of wins, etc.. But I love helping people and I love sharing knowledge to keep this skill set alive. Thank you for a well made video.
We use "duralast" because of blah blah bullshit. You use duralast because you're paid to and you get them free. You'd be using doorman and saying how amazing they are if you're paid. 😂
WHOA! Did he just install a piston and rod and DRAG THE ROD down the bore?? All he had to do was turn the block so the cylinders were straight up and down!! What the hell??
Thats why he set it in carefully. With how rounded and smooth the side of the rod is theres zero issue. Its tipped to the side so pat can reach under and line it up with the crank.....
Pat and Frank, you guys are the best!!! Keep up the good work and don’t worry about what anyone else thinks!!!👍😸
Really sweet! Two minor additions; chase that 10hp to get to 600hp and contrast the super shiny with a little satin and or color.
My 5 month old son loves your show I’m building a 1979 gmc caballero Diablo it’s going to have a 406 in it
This channel got me into engine building as a hobby. Crazy times we live in lol
I drill, and ream the covers and install a 250 hard steel pin, so you have locating pins in the block before ever removing the front and rear covers just like gen. 1 sbc ! Saves you from buying tools that you may use once!
Love the paint you guys used on this one instead of the wacky weird ones you normally choose
Also it was still climbing and hadn't quite peaked. I'd would guess if you did a 3500-7000 sweep it would have crested at 67-6800 and hit 600!
Very good parts break down, excellent sponsor plugs, and then the dyno run was the icing on the cake. LS power to the peps.
I think this is the most gorgeous engine you guys have ever built. As far as I am concerned I don't really care about the rest of the car. The engine is the heart of it all. Kudos to you as well as your sponsors (especially ARP).
I would love to see an all out 383 SBC making 600hp. But I have a feeling they done one awhile back.
They did. It had a blower on it. I think it went in a”muddy truck” they did the rebuild bc of a blown head gasket
They have built a 383 that made 562hp a while back. Small block build stage 2.
I thought that was the blown small block they broke a piston on.
I gotta say, the LS platform really is easy to work on compared to lots of other engines, even ones with less cylinders. Placement of essential functions is my hypothesis for why. Ease of access and simplified everything.
Sure makes me want to do a swap.
I want that in my suburban! It would tow my 24' boat like it wasn't even there.
Make sure you have open hood so fresh air gets to it and not hot engine bay air
This is great! I’d love to see a 5.7 based hemi stroked to a 410.
Love these vids, keep up the good work
Love the intake, but what kind of air cleaner will work on that to keep the bad stuff out? That would look great in my El Camino.
There are small air cleaner mushroom tops that fit on top of the intake tubes.
Nothing. These bling builds are SEMA builds. No need to be concerned about anything else.
Intake runners are usually sized for the operating range of the engine, short runners are usually used for high revving (7k+ rpm) engines. If power curve was the intention, this would have been better off with a Fast intake.
Looks like it could have made a little more, looks like it was rising on the final run. Would have liked to see it ran to 7k rpm.
Excellent video !!! Thanks guys...
It would look great in my dually
Funny pat reading a How To Build Book
I leaned so much form you guys are awesome 👍
I really like the engine block paint choice. Very clean, aluminum-block look.
That's really a fairly big cam for a street engine
I have a stock 2015 Silverado with 6.2 with camper shell and all stock it does 0 to 60 in 5.2 seconds. It’s a beast for the weight.
I'm not into polished or chrome but DAM DOES SHE RUN AND SOUND GREAT!!!!! Torque monster.
+1 vote for an import. Something like a Honda K series, Toyota 2JZ, or Nissan VR38. Love seeing the detailed work, keep it up!
Impressed on the amount of USA made parts in the Summit Racing kit.
A whole lot of chrome.
I thought for sure you would go for 600, but that's OK, I loved the build!
I wish Powernationtv would do a LS conversion with a flat plane crank
Why?
Well I don't know about the performance advantage but they do have a distinct sound so there's that.
@@joshtheking1772 Most flat plane engines are DOHC, I would like to see if you could get the same higher RPM with a Single cam.
Super cool build
Another nice one boys.
Talk about an ABSOLUTELY linear power curve. Yeesh. That's a very clean slope.
Is like to see yall build a high rpm LS. Like 8 - 9000 rpm.
They just did on the previous video.
@@frankcastle9691TH-cam hides stuff now...

My 76 crew cab c30 would be amazing with this engine in it.
Great engine combo 👍🇦🇺

man this would transform my V6 mustang into a muscle car
Keep your ford ALL FORD😎
ah yes im sorry 🤣🤣🤣🤣@@josephf593
You need a 6.8L DOHC 40V Triton V10 for you're Mustang
If you put that GM in a Ford, I'm putting a 455Oldsmobile in a Firebird
love the borat reference at the end lol.. need something like this in my 84 k10.. badly
19:40 why didn't they use ARP main bolts? 24:40 You advance the cam to pick low end but you use ITB which know for top end power.
Man I wonder how much they charge to build your engine definitely worth it
Man, that engine would look and perform great in my 2002 Chevy Silverado 2500 HD with 127K on the odometer that has "Zero Rust" I might add. 😎

Awesome looking and running!! That's the way to build a proper engine!!
The only rime chrome will get you home
What is the reason for moving the crank forward? Isn't it just going to return to its "happy spot"?
That intake gives me John Kaase vibes. Stacey David used one on the Boss 9 in the V8 Interceptor.

How have y’all not promoted carbide tipped scrapers! Matco sells A version also. Great tool for the “every man”
This engine would be a great swap for a Canadian Muscle car like the 66-69 Beaumont
I guess you could call me a sunnen cause it also takes me 5 strokes to finish 😉

I don't get it.

Stroker engines are more concerned with bottom end torque. That was always my impression.
What kind of map sensor set up are they using for the individual throttle bodies they kind of just glossed over that
I love my 5.7 hemi in my truck, still I’d swap it out for this LS any day. 😊
