      Adrian Struwig maybe, it was a generalization as it applies in concept. In the end all that really matters is we are all having fun tying and catching fish

    Great looking version, definitely like the new MFC vertical eye hooks they are game changers when it comes to articulated flies .

    Another question-- in this video you use the 7502 size 5 hook then the Arex size 1. Question: would a Gamakatsu B10S Size 1 be good with the sz5 7502?
    Thanks again, love your book and videos!

      Ed Torchia you gotta specify bud, lol!! It’s a wool comb but EP sells them or you can find them on amazon

    Thanks for the video Rich. Is there a general rule of thumb on the size difference between the front and rear hook or does it depend on the pattern? Thanks!

    • @RichStrolis
      @RichStrolis  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Nate Riel typically want the rear hook 1-2 sizes smaller than the front but that’s just a general rule of thumb

      That's what I figured, thanks for the info.

    I have a question--in your book CATCHING SHADOWS on Pg 158, you have the 'recipe' for a Brown Trout Ice Pick. There is a line that says "Flanks: Yellow Senyo Laser Dub and marabou." My question is: where are these located on the fly, and how do you tie them in correctly?
    Thank you

    • @RichStrolis
      @RichStrolis  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      You simply tie the msrabou in before each clump of laser dub on either side of the hook. 4-5 fibers each side. You do the same with the yellow laser dub.

    • @woodrowmcwilliams2547
      @woodrowmcwilliams2547 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@RichStrolis OK so 4-5 marabou fibers on each side, THEN the yellow Laser Dub over those, then the regular Collar laser dub over that?
      Thanks!

    Great fly.
    What exactly does the monofilament loop do? Does it keep the tail from fouling around the hook?

    Hi Rich,
    What size EP steamer brush do you like to use? 3”? Thank you!

    • @RichStrolis
      @RichStrolis  ปีที่แล้ว

      For all the articulated versions yes, they were primarily designed for that fly as I used to spin the brushes out of various colors of ice dubbing. You can use the same size brush on the singles as well but once you go smaller than a size 4 the smaller brushes are a better fit.

    You can take your waste material from the rabbit strips and make dubbing or a small dubbing brush

    There's just something about catching fish on a fly we made ourselves.
