My golf instructor just spent the entire lesson on this. My upper body was taking over first. He said gotta separate the hips from upper body. You're drills though will Ingrain this. Thx for the timely video!
This move has drastically improved my swing. Effortless power and better consistency. The swing thought that helps me with this sequence is; Hit the ball with your hip (right hip for right handed players). The shoulders and arms, and club will naturally follow. When I "strike" the ball with my shoulders or arms, I get into all sorts of consistency problems.
Thankyou... Been doing these drills all off season worked like a charm . I couldn't stop spinning the right shoulder forward at the start of the downswing , was looking in totally the wrong place ive won 3 medals this year and loads of top 10's . Only problem I've been cut 6 shots 👍
Yep, I noticed this move a long time ago and have always wondered about it. Never seen a good player (scratch or better) not do it. I've had some luck at times feeling like I'm loading my chest into my arm in transition. When I do it right, it's like an extra 15-20 yards throughout the bag. I'll try these drills. Thanks!
Weird question, but so your initial thought is moving the lower body without the upper body. Once it’s activated, is your next mental que to move the upper body to follow? Or do you just keep focus on finishing turning the lower body?
@@jchowngolf yeah yeah! Listen you love the Gilet and you wear it well JC. Freak us all out and bang on a polo! Ha Nice tips and appreciate the content
More time doing the drills is what’s needed 👍🏼 For more context, it took me 6 months back in the day of the resistance band drill in between every shot for the move to implement into my swing 👍🏼
Disconnection is one reason for an over the top swing, out of sequence downswing is another. There’s multiple reasons for over the top, all depends on the players root cause issue 👍🏼
It’s easy to do when you’re not rotating like you in the video tho… your body is facing the camera instead of the direction of the band like a real swing, from there it’s much harder
Thats just so wrong.... even when you showed us the over the top swing early in the video you still shallowed the club really well... I would happily swing over the top if I still shallowed it like you did.
Haha, there’s more to shallowing than just the separation. You can still shallow and be over the too, shallowing the shaft is just the COM pitching behind you, you can slice it whilst shallowing if the sequencing/depth is off. The reason why I still shallowed it in the bad swing was my lead wrist staying in flexion in transition. If it was flat or cupped, the shaft would certainly have not been shallow haha 👍🏼
love these videos , practical easy to understand solutions , thanks

Excellent info and drill!
Superb explanation. And thanks for the drills as well.
Great video JC. Best instruction for me. Appreciate it!
Thanks Rick!
Yes, transition from ground up. Nice band drill to work on lower body /torso separation. Well done.
Thanks Ken!
Great channel bro. Keep it growing.
Great video thankyou I done the same drill but with a tie from my dressing gown or robe whichever you like to call it 😃

I'll be using this swing thought tomorrow, cheers for sharing.
I love simple tips and thoughts like this. Will try. Thanks!

I can even see the bubble wrap technique you shared in what you're showing today... great teaching again as always!
Absolutely bud! I’m glad you enjoyed the lesson!
Thankyou...

Like the way you explain how you did it, how it takes time to learn it but is possible.
Thank you JC. 🏌🏻♀️
I feel personally ATTACKED by that initial out of sequence swing you did so well.
Great video.
Haha 😂
Great explanation!

My pleasure Roger 👍🏼
Consistent, quality content, loving the channel man! Look forward to your videos every time. #fleetwoodswingarmy
Thanks bud! Haha great to hear, I’ve got some great ones coming up!
Can’t wait man, you’ve helped me clean my swing up a lot! Might have to hit you up on skillest 🤙🏻
Great video again, even better as I’ve just seen you’re a Billerica boy
This is what I need 🙌🏼
Have a great practice!
Great videos and keep them up!!...I was wondering, do you always wear that black vest especially in sunny weather with "short sleeve shirts"??
Thanks bud! Haha sunny doesn’t always mean warm in England. My videos next week won’t have the jacket on as it’s far too hot now 😅
Good 👍🏽 stuff!
Thanks Phillip!
Where did you get the practice net from? Great video, thanks!
It’s from net world sports 👍🏼

Hi,sometimes it fills like belly dancing.thank you
Easier said then done 😀
You’re not wrong, golf in a nutshell haha. All about the grinding the move with the drills 👍🏼
@@jchowngolf when you been doing it the other way for so long, hard to change and then trust it

Absolutely bud! Quick fixes never solve the problem permanently, all about the hard grind for months or years 👍🏼
30 degrees and still the gilet JC?
Are you sure you are from Essex???
This was filmed a week and a half ago when it was cooler haha 😅

I can perform these drills great, but cannot transition over to the swing on the course..the upper body takes over.

You just described me.
You're actually totally connected. The problem with over the toppers is they are disconnected
Disconnection is one reason for an over the top swing, out of sequence downswing is another. There’s multiple reasons for over the top, all depends on the players root cause issue 👍🏼
That’s just interpretation. Depends on how you define “disconnect.”
😁👍
Thank bud!
So much of your swing happens in the backswing
