Nice breakdown Cody, I like it. We'll differ on Final Conflict, I think the infanticide angle made it appropriately evil and brought the horror, but I can't fault a fella for drawing that particular line. Great to see the franchise represent well with the new one, cheers bud.
Very solid list, I must say. For me, I probably would have a few in different spots. The remake would be on the bottom, mainly because no matter how bad Omen 4 is, at least they tried something different, I could respect that more than just rehashing the same exact thing like the remake did. And I actually liked the second one slightly more than the first, so probably for me, I would have put that on top. One thing that always annoyed me about The Final Conflict is that in the previous Omen films it was established that they needed 7 daggers to kill Damien yet he dies by getting stabbed by just one. It's like someone didn't watch the previous films and it created an inconsistent continuity.
There were two sequel books that actually went somewhere with that, but they never made it to film. Damien is reborn in a new body and gets a second attempt at the whole end of the world thing. The fourth Omen film that we did get is not an adaptation of these stories and bears only the mildest of resemblances to the premise of the fourth book.
Even though Omen IV was universally hated, the plot twist at the end was very unexpected when I first saw the film, with Delia being merely the bodyguard/protector to her twin, Alexander, who is the true Antichrist. Still a very strange film.

The only thing I didn't understand was, in the omen, it was stated that the priest was there for the birth of Damien, and he he said that the "mother" was not a human, it was a Jackal. That was not the case in the first omen. The person who gave birth was absolutely a human woman
Margaret is half jackal herself, like Damien. Both were born from a rape committed by Satan incarnated in a jackal. They both have jackal blood in their veins.
I just didn't find omen 2 interesting past the hockey drowning scene. For me it was like... Damien doesn't even know what's going on and people are dying around him.

I hadn’t watched omen 3 & 4. I watched first omen last night. I was thinking it was how they wanted to tie how there was a female antichrist in omen 4 but since omen 4 is set after omen 3 that obviously can’t be possible
Ummm… Excuse me, but _no!!_ I’m calling BS on this _"franchise"_ ranking because, neither you nor most of the commenters, from what I can see, have even mentioned the cancelled-too-soon series, _'Damien'_ (2016), starring Bradley James as the titular Antichrist which, though lasting sadly only one season, is still nevertheless absolutely a part of the *_'Omen'_* franchise & deserves to be acknowledged!! 😠😡🤬
The one really weird thing about the show is that it positions itself as a follow-up to the original film, but it ignores the sequels. At that point, why not just make it a continuation of the remake's continuity instead?!

I respectfully disagree about the 2006 remake being a shot by shot film of 1976. There were various differences. Kathy’s death was different from 1976. There was an extra death in the beginning that’s not in the 1976 film. There’s the pope and cardinals talking about the comet in the observatory. So there are differences and it’s my opinion that it’s a decent remake.
Of course the first omen is number 2. So typical of a modern TH-cam movie reviewer. And another reason why omen 2 will always be considered an underrated sequel…
@@JCStorm76 but they did mess it up. Shot for shot the same movie and they still messed it up. The remake isn’t creepy and has no feeling of dread like the original did. As for picking 4 over 3..wow!
I’ve been watching them in chronological order starting with the new The First Omen, which I thought was AMAZING!!! I’ll be honest, I thought the original was decent but I was pretty letdown by it, and I think 2, 3 and 4 have been absolute GARBAGE! I’m gonna watch the remake tonight just to cap things off, but overall what a super, super disappointing binge this has been.
The only thing I like more about The Omen remake is that you don't have to watch Gregory Peck CHEWING UP the scenery. I can't stand old school "acting." (unapologetic OVERACTING!!!)

The remake will always rank dead last for me. What a waste of time. At least Omen IV had pretensions to be its own film.

The original really isn't all that spectacular, I would put First Omen ahead of it tbh.
