      Saw them once and to say they had the place by the balls is an understatement. I've never seen a band since with a stronger connection to the audience than Pantera.

  • @rightfootlefthand
    @rightfootlefthand 3 ปีที่แล้ว +17

    Pantera evolved really interestingly. They became darker and heavier, especially towards the end, taking it even closer to their Texan roots.
    All I needed growing up was Iron Maiden, Sepultura, and Pantera. That kind of covered the spectrum for me 😁

    My first Pantera show I think maybe late '94 early '95 we were at the barrier (as close as you could get)...yep..we were stage left (facing the stage) in front of Rex's bass rig and fuck....it was brutal!...Dime always covered the entire stage so we got time with him but fuck we were Bass hammered all night...goddamn how I wish I could go back in time. Got the black picks with the screw on them for the "Far Beyond Driven" tour...*sheds tear*. : (

    Now this is Pantera! You HAVE to respect Pantera for keeping extreme music alive in a sad couple of decades for heavy music. Pantera, Testament, Slayer, Overkill and Exodus kept the flames burning.
    The world is a colder place without the Abbott Brothers!
    Also hahaha look at that Metal-ass Dog on the stage! Remember dogs have much better hearing than us, still the dog is completely chill on stage, digging it! OF COURSE that dog is chillin' it; looks like it is Zakk Wylde's dog after all! The dog is probably drunk on beer.

Definitely worth a watch...And, I wouldn't make a dog suffer through getting their ears blown out at a show. I saw Hoobastank at a bar back when they were first starting out, and a guy brought his pit bull in there...The crowd about crucified his a** running him and his pooch outa there. This was when Phil was very hard to understand as it was just a bunch of muffled screaming and him just falling down on stage. Sometimes he wouldn’t get up and just finished the song sitting on his ass.
    Blame it on the booze, heroine, and painkillers he was horribly abusing because of his back and neck issues… Pantera by that point needed to take a long break.
    Just never thought it’d come down to Phil then trashing the band in interviews….and then the shock that the heavy metal community around the world got with the assassination of Dime, Vinny succumbing to his health problems, and lastly Rex and his reoccurring health problems and just the wear and tear on Phil would end one of the more important bands in heavy metal history.
    Long live Pantera!
