The absolute most infuriating part of the discourse around Adventure Time when it ended was people complaining about PB and Marcy being together.

Right? Did they just skip What Was Missing, or what? Because man, that song *alone* makes it painfully obvious that they were together at one point. They couldn't have made that clearer without saying it outright.
I didn’t keep up with Adventure Time for a long time but even I found it weird why people were so angry about it.
I mean the fact that the shirt was more sentimentally charged then the last gift of a father to his daughter before he was lost to mental illness, that is an intense connection they must have had.
I for one do like Bubbline, but as someone who doesn’t view either member of the pair as their favourite character, I’m not a fan of how the fan base basically forgot about every character once the possibility of them dating came into the equation.
But I guess on the point of them being paired in the last episode of the original show, I can see the argument that due to that being too late into the show’s run, people wouldn’t get to digest the new relationship that much, atleast not until Obsidian. Although fan reaction aside, I’m very biased to this show, as it’s currently my favourite show ever made, and is heavy inspiration for my own story, which I’ve been writing for nearly as long as the show itself has been around.
It's like what was missing, varmints, stakes, all of that didn't even exist to them. I remember being like 11 and seeing varmints and going "ohhhhh they're in love" as a CHILD, like 4 seasons before they were actually confirmed romantically

For both PB and Marcy it’s a story of connection. Both of them wanted connections more then anything else. But because of everything that went down with Uncle Gumball, PB only saw connections under her strict conditions. She became colder and controlling. Meanwhile with Marcy because of everything with her mother, Hunsen and Simon she saw connections as something that hurts her. So she became afraid of opening herself up and even more afraid of losing what she has. Their first relationship was doomed to fail because hadn’t learned what eachother needed to be for eachother. Bonnie to be more attentive and considerate. Marceline getting past her insecurity and being more empathetic.
I always appreciated how real these type of relationships felt in adventure time. W video as always Sage ❤️

Bubbline is one if my favorite examples of how some couples really just need time apart to grow enough and become better people on their own, before eventually finding their way back to each other. And although neither characters are perfect by the end, they’ve both matured enough to make it work.
This relationship was just beautifully written and will always be one of my favorites ❤

In a way, Bubblegum kinda reminds me of Odin from God of War. Both value knowledge. Both emphasized control. Both feared losing control. All of which were heightened due to dealings with death (Giant Prophecy and Lich). Bubblegum, however, managed to let go or lessen such fears and concerns.

Man I really wish a I was into this show. I watched the entire first season several years ago but just couldn't get into it. Maybe it's time I gave it another shot.
good luck, my advice if it starts losing you, take a break and pace yourself through a rough patch of episodes.
I showed the show to my dad, but I decided to cut about a third of it out, mostly from the first 4 seasons. A lot of the early show is fun, but a lot of the deeper more emotionally driven stuff comes later. You need a certain amount of context for that stuff, but definitely not every episode. I'm sure there are some good guides online for what is mandatory and what is skippable.
I would look up what the important eps are for season 1 and 2, and skip the rest. Those were my least favorite seasons. By season 4 it gets it's pace down and keep getting massively better.
The first couple seasons are the most shallow and imo worst. As the seasons go on they focus way more on lore, world building, character arcs, etc. Not to say those seasons don't have any of that, and they're not /bad/, but they don't have nearly as much and they don't pack as much of a punch. Tbh you can probably skip most of the first season entirely, and then go back and watch them later to see how much it changed.
It's so good. Especially considering how each episode is only 11 minutes long. Sometimes they have episodes full of huge revelations and lore dumps, and sometimes they sprinkle it in throughout several different episodes and only directly addressed at the finale or seasons later. I was about 13 when I first started watching it as season 3 or so was airing, and it definitely matured alongside its audience. Some things I didn't fully appreciate until rewatching as an adult, and it's still just as good as it was when I was younger
Once again your videos find a way to get me emotional, this series end got synch up with me turning 18, so in a sense, the growth that the show and the characters got, always resonates with me, this time with your video, thanks for that 🙏

"Obsidian" made me love these 2 so much more than the main series ever did, but I suppose that just shows how much I prefer to see a couple actually together in order to be hooked in. And now I'm obsessed, and they truly one of the most perfect pairs. Thanks for making me realize even more tiny details about their relationship I hadn't before.

Quick question, when did Marceline actually meet Hudson? We know her mother told her the story of how she met and fell in love, but that's about it. Was it after Simon left because it's heavily implied in the show (and stated in the book Marcy's super secret diary) that Simon summoned Hudson and forced her to take care of Marceline.
i am no AT expert but in ‘hunson and marcy’ there’s a short flashback of hunson busting through marceline’s home and it looks like that either their first or one of their earliest encounters
