Great song! His gutturals are rarely matched by anyone. They are deep, powerful and resonant rather than shallow and scratchy. How he achieves this I don't know. And, the way he can flip to cleans is amazing. Interestingly, I was looking through my music library and noticed that about half of it comes from Finland.
@@TheWolffAndTheMelody As a Finn I recommend another of our gems. Smackbound's "Drive it like you stole it". Awesome female vocals by Netta Laurenne. On guitar the touring guitarrist of Megadeath, Teemu Mäntysaari. Drums from Stratovarius etc etc. So it's a metal supergroup. Her/their cover of Dio's "Don't talk to strangers" would make Ronnie proud. Netta's vocals gives me chillllls. Here is the link to the official video of "Drive it like you stole it": th-cam.com/video/bakdeYSBG3w/w-d-xo.html
Saw them live in Japan on two consecutive nights in September - needless to say that it was a total blast and among my most memorable times of 2023.🖤💥 However, when it comes to "On The Dark Waters", I'm always BLOWN AWAY by the change they make in the last chorus, as it becomes so hauntingly epic that I have to mention it as one of my all-time-favourite moments in metal. People often talk about classics and old songs, but this jewel is a NEW song that deserves to become a classic!🖤❤️🔥🔥❤️🔥🖤
Wtf?? Not a fan of thrash voice, but this one took me on a journey. Dude playing his guitar like a sitar? Love the instrumentals, the switch between thrash voice and beautiful voice. Thank you for sharing.
I think the world might be coming to an end. A song with gutterals that I really, really liked? The gutterals were very tolerable, and this man's clean voice is simply out of this world good. I liked everything about this, and I have to say that guitar solo near the end got run back and played again. Then, I looked up the lyrics, to make sure I got them all, and they were also spectacular. There has to be some folklore behind them.
I'm a sucker for bass licks and when they can be listened out loud in the song, my jaw meets the floor. The vocals are undoubtely top notch. Hands down to FUCKING AMORPHIS !!!! 🤘🏾🤘🏾🤘🏾
Um.......Banger!!! Everything about this song was great. From both vocalists to the guitar and drums. Just a all around good song. 2024 is gonna be a huge year for the channel brother!!
The band really hit the Jackpot when they came across with Tomi. I never really liked growling until I heard Skyforger album. I still don't except when I hear Tomi mixing his clean vocals with that amazing deep beasty growls.
I saw this the day they released the video for it and was just as blown away. I love Amorphis so very much! I'm glad you've done another reaction to them, and like I said, you'll hear from me on every one XD
This is my first experience with Amorphis. And my reaction was just as yours, Tommy: "It´s so good", "OMG", speechless at the end, "10/10". I´ll definitely check some more songs of them.
Thanks for doing this, sooo good. Enjoyed your reaction. Defenetly one of my favorites, shows diversity of Tomi's voice..and Esa with tha eastern vbes🎸 just perfect . May the year 2024 be filled with ❤,happiness, joy of finding great music 🎉🎉🎉🎉
In case you were wondering if Amorphis rocks? Amorphis fucking rocks. For your next Amorphis song I think you might enjoy the following: Majestic Beast Hopeless Days Honeyflow (Japanese exclusive bonus track)
Hell yeah man, Love Amorphis! lol Tomi with Sleep Token would definitely be something ... guaranteed to have a more even mix of harsh and clean vocals . One sad thing about this video where's Tomi's custom Mic? That thing is rad! 🤘🤘
Have loved Amorphis for years! Mikael Åkerfeldt/Opeth and Tomi were the ones who made me like harsh vocals. But noooo Vessel/Sleep Token and IV/guitarist can scream very well on their own! Have you listened to any live recordings of ST?? If not you should, Vessel is just amazing 🤩🤩🤩 Check Vore and The Summoning for instance (for both cleans and harsh vocals).
Tomi J is extremely good, but I will always prefer their first three albums to everything latter. I'm really hoping that we get a Nightwish level of production live bluray with Amorphis doing their older songs..
I think I made the exact same face when I heard Tomi Joutsen for the first time, when they released Silent Waters back in the day. The title song of that album is a great song to listen to in order to discover their softer side. Wrong Direction is another very emotional song mostly done in cleans, there's a live performance of it, too. And for their heavier side - Drowned Maid, or The Wolf. Amorphis is always amazing. And so great live, it's almost ridiculous. Esa Holopainen deserves more praise than he gets, too, probably my favourite guitarist.
Amorphis + Tomi Joutsen is always good! Tomi joined the band for the seventh album and this song we just heard is from the band's fourteenth album. The 7th, 8th, 9th and 10th albums were produced by Marko Hietala and he was also a background singer on all four albums. The story says (I don't know how true it is) that during the recording phase of that seventh album, Marko would have advised/taught Tom how to sing. If he did this and made Tom's singing better, then big thanks to Marko! Both guitarists of Amorphis (Esa Holopainen and Tomi Koivusaari) have also made a solo album. Both albums have a different singer in each song. Tomi Joutsen also sings. But on Tomi Koivusaari's album, which was released on December 1, 2023, Marko Hietala also appears in one of the songs. It's worth getting to know it! Link below. Bjørkø feat. Marko Hietala & Petronella Nettermalm: Whitebone Wind (Official Video) th-cam.com/video/ZMqpmFVACnE/w-d-xo.html
I love amorphis! Have you react to Shades of Grey?? That's a kick ass song! Also, from same Halo álbum, seven roads come together is amazing. From the old ones should definitely check black winter day or from rich and poor or my kantele - go for magic and mayhem from 2010 for Tomi's versions.
I bet it is kind of difficult for being a reactor... I could not wait to hear more of a new band I've discovered. No way I could wait for weeks to do another reaction :)
Amorphis are fn Legends. Btw: check out Disillusion with their songs: "Back to the times of splendor", "Alea" and "The great unknown". Aaaaand Cypecore has a new song called "Patient Zero", which will blow you to Alpha Centauri....🖤😎🤘🌠

Tomi's voice is unique... his cleans hit like a mirror on an bright day.

I agree completely!
I saw Amorphis in Zürich with Lost Society and Sòlstafir!
I also agree that their new stuff is just as great
I absolutely adore them!
@@TheWolffAndTheMelody Been an Amorphis fan since the mid 90s. They changed sounds a lot but are still really good
love it how you were just left speechless after the song 😀

You will love Amorphis! His gutterals are so nice and not so angry and unhinged.
Many of their songs are based on Kalevala, which is a collection of Finnish folklore and mythology.

Amorphis is such a great band, please keep reacting to them!
❤❤❤
I love amorphis im so pleased to hear someone react to them ........ they r so underrated but i think theyre great 🤘🏼🖤🤘🏼🖤
they arnt talked about enough!
Amorphis are the literal dogs bollocks.
Every time they come to the states and to Tampa I catch them. I've seen them about 4 times and it's in a little club of only about 100 people.

Been a huge fan of theirs sine the debut some 30 years ago. I love when bands have their own unique sound.
Catchy riff, powerful unclean vocals and a strong chorus. Nice song
Nice. Amorphis. It happened hear for me for the first time. Been wanting to give it a listen, thx for making it happen.
Glad you like it!
