Mark my words, as Maria progresses, grows older, and has more colorful experiences in life, she will blossom and become one of the best and top ballerinas of her time. Of course a 19-21 year old is not going to have the incredible emotion of 26-35 year old ballerinas who bring us to tears and evoke intense emotion… let Maria experience love, loss, more suffering, more experiences, and she will inevitably blossom. Her foundation is marvelous, and I would bet my kidneys that in her late 20’s, she will be able to conjure up the deep emotion and artistry that ultimately will round her out, and make her one of the greats in history.. it’s happening as we speak. She is a pure soul, determined, and has such a love for ballet.. it is inevitable that she will only improve and continue to grow in all aspects ^__^ bravissimo Maria! 💕🤘

Actually her dance is becoming more emotional, she is growing (I mean there is a way from a very young girl to the girl who has more experience in life). I believe in her.
Khoreva‘s body and temperament seems to be born for ballet, Russia's excellent education system has cultivated her with first-class dance skills. After all, she is still very young. She is a brilliant dancer, I love seeing her dancing, she is an upcoming star and, no doubt, a future prima. Except for all these, she is also a great influencer and knows exactly how to promote herself and the place where she works (Mariinsky Theatre) on social media. Keep in mind that I discovered Mariinsky Theatre and the other dancers of it, after discovering Maria (I am not Russian.) My personal opinion is that they are giving her so many principal roles because of the social media promotion she does for the company. Take for example Batoeva, who is in the same rank with Khoreva and she is much more experienced. She hasn't danced Nikia yet although she has great acting skills. In conclusion, Maria is a great dancer, especially for her age, and she deserves being a first soloist. But the Theatre, by giving her so many principals roles so quickly, doesn't give her time to develop. She is so young, she is only 3 years in the company and she has danced all principal roles in famous ballets, except for O/O and Juliet. There is no reason for that, she has too many years ahead. In my opinion it was too soon for Giselle, Nikia, Kitri. She also should have been given more soloist roles, for example Trio of shades, Lilac fairy or even Myrtha. By passing all soloist roles so quickly and by giving her all these principal roles so quickly, they don't help her to develop. They just think of their their fame. P.S. One ballet that I'd love see her dancing, and I think that it's not soon for it is Grand Pas Classique. Also, sorry for my mistakes in English, but they are not my first language.
Actually, she is quite nice as Giselle. Unexpectedly realistic in her own way. Not much drama, but this makes her look better than hysterical ballerinas over-playing the mad scene. Her mad scene is watchable and believable. No feeling of inner discomfort which one experiences observing over-hysterical performances.
@@frogfrog8476 Practically all of them over-perform. Ulanova didn't. She was an authentic Giselle. I love Natalia Osipova as Giselle. But the older she gets the more hysterical her act becomes. But as a villice Giselle in the second act she is unbelievably good. She understands that a villice is not a silfide.
All things considered, Maria Khoreva is the most beautiful dancer in the world today. Perfection of line, gorgeous insteps, impeccable technique , lyricism and pureness of form make her the best among today's brilliant performers. I understand those who critisize her for lack of depth or artistry. Other ballet prodigies did not lack on those skills at her age e.g., Vishneva, Cojocaru, I would say even Zakharova had interesting interpretations at a very young age. There is something missing in Khoreva's Nikiya or Giselle. On the other hand, her Paquita, Kitri, her roles in Balanchine ballets are amazing. What I particularly like about Khoreva is that she often demonstrates her amazing control and shows off her lines, port de bras and epaulement within a normal/fast tempo. This is something uncommon for Mariinsky, where aesthetics typically matter more than tempo or where a long sustained balance after a long (and boring) preparation is considered to be virtuosity. Finally, there is a young ballerina that shows what true virtuosity is and proves that it can go hand in hand with the most beautiful lines and the wonderful use of upper body and head that is typically obtained from the many years of Vaganova training.
Sorry but I don't agree, Zakharova had no turn technique and until she was 30 she was a piece of ice. I saw Khoreva when she was 18 dancing in Nutcraker and she was splendid and perfect.
I agree with you. She seems to me like an extroverted person (at least from her social media persona, or the very fact that she has a social media persona..); and the tragic dramatic roles do not come naturally to perky young people enjoying their youth. But her dancing has a solid foundation in integrity and musicality (the absence of which in Mariinsky you perfectly described), and hopefully those dramatic storytelling will come with more life experience.
i believe her youth may be the reason for the lack of artistry in her dancing. Young zakharova’s giselle seemed out of place for me yet giselle performances in her later years (late 20’s early 30’s) reign the best interpretations i’ve ever seen. I believe those roles require extreme emotion that one experiences and knows through filling out lines of life. Khoreva has not gotten there yet since her age keeps her short, but as she ages she might surpass the minimum greatly! It’s very exciting to think about, but not everyone can let their emotions leak through on stage. We will just have to see!

I learned something over the time😃☀️There are THE Giselles, THE Odettes, THE Odiles,THE Kitris.... THE Paquitas....... But that's cool so. NO ballerina dances all pieces perfect. Sometimes you can tell that ballerinas just can't identify with some roles..that's human. Some suits them more, others less. That being said, Maria belongs to a few selected dancers, who are Allrounder. She always delivers a high score of perfection...not to forget, she is still very young. I really enjoy watching her.... always ❤️

(Side note: I love the choreography for the Dawn Variation from Flora, but the headdress is very distracting. For some reason, I always interpret it as a pineapple and not a star...)

Идеальные данные, пропорции и техника. Изумительно красивый биоробот. Сейчас всё их поколение такое. Скорость, прыжки, раздирка. Как фигуристки с четверными прыжками. Но без малейшей эмоциональной наполненности. Куда приятнее смотреть на настоящих балерин без идеальных вращений и шпагатного шага! Но с душой.

She is extra gifted, charming, and pretty. But I am asking myself why does she use straight pointes shoes, uses only her ankle. And how can she do the Giselle's diagonale jumping on pointe, on these straight soles, not articulating the middle and the bottom of the foot . Her highly arched feet do not bend on the toes. It is the way they used to do at the time of Anna Pavlova, and even Alicia Markova. Quite strange to look at.
I was wondering if anyone else noticed this. Her arch breaks very high. Right up under her heel so she actually bends the box of her shoes backwards noticeably at times.
Maria has incredibly flexible feet, which are obviously very beautiful, but also really difficult to control. So, in order to have more stability, she uses pointe shoes with a very hard shank, that gives more support to her gorgeous arches. That’s also the reason for a wider platform - it’s just easier to balance on. I have to agree, though, it’s not as aesthetically pleasing, as it could’ve been with a more supple shoe, that would allow Maria to really articulate her feet. Maybe she’ll come to it eventually, as she evolves as a dancer and becomes stronger and even more confident in her skill

Spasiba. Da, the technique is flawless, but the soul is lacking. In roles like Giselle and Nikiya, I find she has always the same expression & not enough depth. I am sure in time with her excellent coaches, she will be a true artist in all roles.

Masha is part of the famous rising stars of 2018 Vaganova graduates. But I don’t see much of any of them. Masha is injured but what about the others? Daria? Bulanova? Nuikina? I admire them so much it’s sad that they aren’t getting any important roles lately…
Thanks for your comments. Judging by how many principal roles she's been given at such a young age (graduated 2018), I have no doubt that they will promote her to prima ballerina. Personally I think there are older, more artistic first soloists that deserve to be promoted before her. Khoreva is incredibly gifted, but still lacks depth in certain roles like Nikiya and Giselle imo. In time, I am sure she will develop those characters and become a truly wonderful artist in all roles.

Хорева в своей Мариинке Одетту-Одиллию не танцует, а без этого примы в России не бывает. Не доверяют? Нет, технически она бы безусловно справилась. Тут дело в другом. В России существуют устойчивые представления о том какими должны быть исполнители главных партий в " Лебедином озере". И хоть сам балет больше про мастерство балерины, сама балерина подбирается под кордебалет и главного героя. Зигфрид должен быть настоящим принцем, стройным, изящно сложённым, с длинными конечностями, не ниже любой солистки кордебалета, стоящей на пуантах. Одетта-Одиллия должна быть ему под стать классических русских балетных пропорций. Стоя на пуантах, не выше и не ниже 3-4 см Зигфрида, а длина рук и ног должна быть по пропорции к туловищу примерно такой же, как у него. Она же фея! Это же сказочные герои, а "Лебединое озеро" апофеоз романтического балета. Если любопытно, сравните из зала кордебалет, премьеров Мариинки и Хореву. На партнёршу потенциального Зигфрида не подходит. Жалко! Довелось смотреть спектакли, где эти правила не соблюдались, ломается картинка и, как цепная реакция, здесь не дотянули, там не доделали, а то и вообще грубая отсебятина. Приходится делать над собой усилие, чтобы такое досмотреть. Возможно оно кому-то даже нравится, но это не классический русский балет.

Iirc, he was also critiquing her because she was humble in an interview and said she relies a lot on her partner when dancing pas de deuxs and he interpreted that as her being unable to balance on her own. While she's posting videos of doing unsupported promenades en pointe, and his most famous student is... Misty Copeland.

Каждый палец , каждая клетка должна быть наполнена мыслью и философией которую вы несете. Что несет Мария Хорева ?Чем дрожит ее душа ? И что с музыкальностью ? Балерина ведет оркестр , а не наоборот.
Вы строги:) она и правда очень жестко пиарится, амбиций на троих хватит. Но это умный ход для карьеры - публика захочет - ее быстрее продвинут.) с другой стороны, она пока еще маленькая - успеет приобрести и артистизм, и музыкальность (если не будет лениться). Важно, что есть база - техника. :)
She is an absolute baby still! 21 is not the age where you mature. Mid to late 20’s is when shit hits the fan… love, loss, mental health issues, all kinds of intense things happen and you begin to learn how you move through life’s ups and downs… her artistry can only go up. The more her experiences broaden, the more emotions she will experience, and the more she will be able to translate it in her artistry.. I honestly don’t expect a 20 year old to have the emotion and depth of a 30 or 40 year old who has been through so much… it’s something that comes with time. Even in a few years, I bet the change in her artistry will be wonderfully profound ^__^

She is still so young! Give her some time to experience life.. by mid to late 20’s, after she has dealt with more hardship, mental health issues, loss, maybe love, and all the intense feelings that come with growing into yourself as an adult, I’d bet all my limbs that she is only going to get better and will master the artistry and emotion aspect very well ^__^

She's a lovely dancer and I'm looking forward to seeing how she develops as she expands her repetoire. It's nice to see how she's grown as an actress since she started at the Mariinsky. (Side note: I love the choreography for the Dawn Variation from Flora, but the headdress is very distracting. For some reason, I always interpret it as a pineapple and not a star...)

Мария безусловно идеально сложена, я согласна, что лёгкий вес ,она тоненькая, изящная, красивейший подъём, это мне всё нравится. По поводу артистизма не дотягивает, я об этом писала не раз, но сейчас намного лучше. Не стоит её ругать, она очень старается, хорошая, талантливая девочка, конечно будет примой. Дорогая Мария здоровья тебе, удачи, успешного творчества в самом любимом моём театре и, хотя живу очень далеко, Мариинский театр для меня всегда великий.

She is extra gifted, charming, and pretty. But I am asking myself why does she use straight pointes shoes, uses only her ankle. And how can she do the Giselle's diagonale jumping on pointe, on these straight soles, not articulating the middle and the bottom of the foot . Her highly arched feet do not bend on the toes. It is the way they used to do at the time of Anna Pavlova, and even Alicia Markova. Quite strange to look at.

I was wondering if anyone else noticed this. Her arch breaks very high. Right up under her heel so she actually bends the box of her shoes backwards noticeably at times.
Maria has incredibly flexible feet, which are obviously very beautiful, but also really difficult to control. So, in order to have more stability, she uses pointe shoes with a very hard shank, that gives more support to her gorgeous arches. That’s also the reason for a wider platform - it’s just easier to balance on. I have to agree, though, it’s not as aesthetically pleasing, as it could’ve been with a more supple shoe, that would allow Maria to really articulate her feet. Maybe she’ll come to it eventually, as she evolves as a dancer and becomes stronger and even more confident in her skill

Spasiba. Da, the technique is flawless, but the soul is lacking. In roles like Giselle and Nikiya, I find she has always the same expression & not enough depth. I am sure in time with her excellent coaches, she will be a true artist in all roles.

Masha is part of the famous rising stars of 2018 Vaganova graduates. But I don’t see much of any of them. Masha is injured but what about the others? Daria? Bulanova? Nuikina? I admire them so much it’s sad that they aren’t getting any important roles lately…

Thanks for your comments. Judging by how many principal roles she's been given at such a young age (graduated 2018), I have no doubt that they will promote her to prima ballerina. Personally I think there are older, more artistic first soloists that deserve to be promoted before her. Khoreva is incredibly gifted, but still lacks depth in certain roles like Nikiya and Giselle imo. In time, I am sure she will develop those characters and become a truly wonderful artist in all roles.

Мне очень нравится Хорева. Её техника практически безукоризненна, превосходные стопы, гибкость поистине змеевидная. Но как я уже как-то писал, это русский балет. Хорева в своей Мариинке Одетту-Одиллию не танцует, а без этого примы в России не бывает. Не доверяют? Нет, технически она бы безусловно справилась. Тут дело в другом. В России существуют устойчивые представления о том какими должны быть исполнители главных партий в " Лебедином озере". И хоть сам балет больше про мастерство балерины, сама балерина подбирается под кордебалет и главного героя. Зигфрид должен быть настоящим принцем, стройным, изящно сложённым, с длинными конечностями, не ниже любой солистки кордебалета, стоящей на пуантах. Одетта-Одиллия должна быть ему под стать классических русских балетных пропорций. Стоя на пуантах, не выше и не ниже 3-4 см Зигфрида, а длина рук и ног должна быть по пропорции к туловищу примерно такой же, как у него. Она же фея! Это же сказочные герои, а "Лебединое озеро" апофеоз романтического балета. Если любопытно, сравните из зала кордебалет, премьеров Мариинки и Хореву. На партнёршу потенциального Зигфрида не подходит. Жалко! Довелось смотреть спектакли, где эти правила не соблюдались, ломается картинка и, как цепная реакция, здесь не дотянули, там не доделали, а то и вообще грубая отсебятина. Приходится делать над собой усилие, чтобы такое досмотреть. Возможно оно кому-то даже нравится, но это не классический русский балет.

В любом случае Хореву поздравляю. Просмотрел афишу Мариинки, Хоревой в роли Одетты-Одиллии больше пока нет. Очень хочется посмотреть, уверен, может будет не привычно, но точно интересно.

Iirc, he was also critiquing her because she was humble in an interview and said she relies a lot on her partner when dancing pas de deuxs and he interpreted that as her being unable to balance on her own. While she's posting videos of doing unsupported promenades en pointe, and his most famous student is... Misty Copeland.

С огромным уважением к труду этой девочки, но это плохо . Русская балерина это живописец ,а не техничная танцовщица . Каждый палец , каждая клетка должна быть наполнена мыслью и философией которую вы несете. Что несет Мария Хорева ?Чем дрожит ее душа ? И что с музыкальностью ? Балерина ведет оркестр , а не наоборот.
Вы строги:) она и правда очень жестко пиарится, амбиций на троих хватит. Но это умный ход для карьеры - публика захочет - ее быстрее продвинут.) с другой стороны, она пока еще маленькая - успеет приобрести и артистизм, и музыкальность (если не будет лениться). Важно, что есть база - техника. :)
She is an absolute baby still! 21 is not the age where you mature. Mid to late 20’s is when shit hits the fan… love, loss, mental health issues, all kinds of intense things happen and you begin to learn how you move through life’s ups and downs… her artistry can only go up. The more her experiences broaden, the more emotions she will experience, and the more she will be able to translate it in her artistry..
I honestly don’t expect a 20 year old to have the emotion and depth of a 30 or 40 year old who has been through so much… it’s something that comes with time. Even in a few years, I bet the change in her artistry will be wonderfully profound ^__^
Видела ее на сцене в двух партиях и, конечно, Хореву очень сильно продвигают, поэтому ее вообще видно. Отличница и трудолюбивая, но Никию, Жизель и аналогичные партии пока не идут вообще. Унылое зрелище. А вот Пахита весьма неплоха. Любопытно, как она будет танцевать лет через десять, когда держать такой вес будет физически невозможно и пропадёт эта детская точность и легкость. Прима-балерина, говорите?

She is still so young! Give her some time to experience life.. by mid to late 20’s, after she has dealt with more hardship, mental health issues, loss, maybe love, and all the intense feelings that come with growing into yourself as an adult, I’d bet all my limbs that she is only going to get better and will master the artistry and emotion aspect very well ^__^

и да про пропорции…Николай Максимович в каком-то интервью говорил, что у неё своеобразны пропорции и нужно осторожно подбирать костюмы и причёску
