Fun fact: The origins of this feature goes back to the galaxy S9/8. Those phones had a inwards curve on the left and right on your screen. The edge lighting would take advantage of the curved screen to "project" the light on the area around it when it was face down.
Ikr. I just discovered a new feature on my galaxy a13, when im not using my phone, and someone sends a message, the phone doesnt ring or vibrate, it only does it when you pick up the phone. Samsung has so many features that we discover a new feature everyday
As a samsung user we dont need the dynamic island. Dynamic island is a cool iphone feature but we dont need it. Its so many different features that sansung has that gives samsung its own uniqueness
@PFnove you can get it through an app. As a samsung user I don't want any iphone features. I don't want anything that resembles or copies iphone. That's what makes sansung unique. I just like being different.
The Dynamic Island on an iPhone does more than just show your text messages. It tells you how far your Lyft/uber is, how long til your door dash order is ready, Directions. It’s a quick reference for a lot of apps.
If you like the more detailed option more, you can go to settings, routines and make a profile that does the edge lighting when a particular app makes a notification
I love the brief setting and being able to have edge lighting when I get notifications. It makes it really nice when I don't have my phone on and see it out of the corner of my eye
true. I has the same on my Galaxy Note 9, it does not even have camera cutout in the screen, and i like it. But it is only notification pop-ups, nothing similar with Apple's island 🏝 🙂
Yeah, it's not the same, but I don't really see any use case where the dynamic island is even needed, you can already control music and apps by opening the notification bar without it taking space from the screen, and if you are doing multiple things and don't want to waste the half second it takes to open the notification bar you can just open the app on divided screen or as a floating screen
you guys are completely missing the point tho, apple has only had it for 2 years and its exponentially more interactive and more informative, the island on iphone actually shows you information and, gives you quick controls or will actually show the notification; not just flashing lights around the screen (which iphones have been able to do through settings for awhile now)
@@noahr6786 uhhhh yeah sure but it doesn't change the fact that Android did it first and from what I see iphone took inspiration from that abd improved on it because I remember years ago around 2019 my mom's phone could do this
The fact is that dynamic island actually allows user to quickly have shortcuts like Music controls, timer and more. Here it’s just a different pop up notifications that is small enough for that you couldn’t even notice it
@hubhub27 actually it is more customizable, you can make it do practically anything you want from what I've heard. That sounds a lot cooler than the normal dynamic island.
It appears to be a galaxy twenty four ultra, but I also have that and the regular twenty four. I like the stylist features it makes it super easy to take notes.
@@hamzayousaf4377 Do you even know why that cutout exists on iPhones? There is a LIDAR system recognizing your face in 3D, not just by a flat image. I'm not saying that this is 100% reliable, but hard to put under the screen.
Realme GT 6 has this too. It only lights up the side edges, though. Fun Fact: It's branded as the Flagship Killer, having features and performance of flagship phones at half of their typical price.
In my opinion, i just think that the dynamic island on the iPhone is better because it just doesn't randomly pop up and expand, but it hides the proximity sensor and TrueDepth camera system so you don't just have two black blobs on top. I just like how my dynamic island notifications don't just pop up randomly on the screen, but now slide just out of the dynamic island. The animations are cool too. No hate on Samsung, they make really cool stuff. I really think their OLED monitors and TVs are awesome, and especially their Samsung Odyssey G9.
It's already available in One UI 3 (Android 11) but with fewer effect options (I don't remember exactly) . The specific ambient lighting effect (the running light that goes around the screen) is not available for low-end ones, only for high-end ones. I once had A10s with One UI 3.1 and it has the feature right after the upgrade from One UI 2 (Android 10). The firework effect is my favorite, I changed my Galaxy phone and I didn't turn the feature off.
With the ios 18. Dynamic island just got even better. One of those features is the flashlight wherein you can adjust the brightness and width of the flashlight. Something that isn't available on any Galaxy Series.
This is available on any of the S Series models from the past several years. Not quite as intuitive as Apple's Dynamic Island, but similarly styled and edge lighting has been a Samsung patented feature for a long time (since the phasing out of notification lights). You're right, it is a cool feature and everyone with a Samsung S Series should definitely try it out, but this really is Apple's to oranges. Both are fruit, but are vastly different in look and taste.
You can also set it up to change the Color of the Popups to a particular contact. So that whenever that person pings it shows up in a different color. Pretty useful TBH
Had this on my s9 since 2018, you can even filter color based on app, or on specific words contained in the notifications.. also, it looks even better on curved edge phones
This feature was avaliable for pretty much A DECADE for Samsung phones, for real, this was a feature when they introduced the curved screen displays like Galaxy S6 Edge in 2015
It is just a different notification style. It was invented back in the days for those phones with curved sides because Samsung wanted users to use their phones putting the screen on the table. It was cool, only in the darkness, other than that distracting a lot when screen is facing you. Dynamic Island just pop out with buttons and actions that you can quickly do - so baiting short.
Not only has this been a thing for many years, this is also literally nothing like the dynamic island at all. Most of the dynamic island is patented so that other manufacturers can't just replicate it.
I've owned modern galaxies since the S21 and can attest that it's been doing this since it was released which leads me to believe, Samsung may have already had this feature way before the S21 as well 😅
