I do this all the time. You have to scotch tape the heat switch down. Works great!

Hi April...The idea was mentioned by one of my subscribers back in the comments on my "Living in a Van with No Oven" video so I thought I would give it a try. C. Lynn Higginbotham is her channel. Thanks for the suggestion Lynn! And April, thanks for watching. I hope you share it with your friends and family.

Maybe Dash should come up with a mini cooker for soup, stews, and popcorn. My thumb joint would ache from holding down the button, but you got the job done; yay!!!

I just use a sauce pan & lid on the stove.😆 old school. I thought about getting an air popper but I've got no room in my kitchen for anything else. Try topping it with nutritional yeast!! Its so tummy and good for you

When I make popcorn, I usually heat the oil first. When the oil is hot I add the kernels. Popcorn does take a bit of time.

Yeah, it didn't work in my steam cooker... but it works fantastic in the microwave.
Just put a tablespoon of kernels in a paper bag fold the end over and over and nuke it for about a min or two just stop when the popping slows down before it burns.

I could be wrong but I am pretty sure she doesn’t have a microwave in her van and even if she does there are days when there isn’t enough sun to run one.

I’ve seen someone who regularly stir fry’s in her rice cooker just wedge a piece of paper in the power button to keep it from switching to warm.

Yeah, did that. One way to break your rice cooker. Had to learn the hard way. It overheats and eventually dies. So I wouldn't recommend your suggestion.

I remember the old Orville redenbacher commercials when he would say Hi I'm Orval Reddenbacher from Valparaiso Indiana. 😊. we were extra stoked as kids hearing that because my mom's family is from Valparaiso Indiana 😁. I'm still watching and can't wait to see if this works, or not.

Mine only pops half the popcorn. It's ok because I like the unpopped kernels.

Hi, maybe take that inverted coffee mug and place it over the lid handle and that would give you the weight you need to keep it in cooking mode. Good luck.

Initially, I was going to do some on the stove. My wife accidentally bought the microwave stuff and, as we don't (and never will) have a microwave, I thought why not try the rice cooker. Then I thought I'd see if anyone else had tried it yet, and if they were successful. For anyone else reading this who has a microwave, I test and tag electrical equipment in the workplace and I perform a separate test for actual microwave leakage. This involves a special tester and searches for leakage around the door and from the back. Any warpage, food left where door seals or corrosion will cause leakage of microwaves. The (apparently) safe limit is 5.0 mW/cm2...We will never use a microwave. Also, there is no such thing as microwave safe plastic. I'll try the rice cooker this afternoon 😁

Put a small potato in the rice cooker to hold it down.

I wonder if by putting the oil in first and letting it get hot, then adding the popcorn would work any better? Place a weight (pan with rice (or other weight) in it) on top of the rice cooker's lid to hold it down... This prevents you from having to constantly be resetting the cook switch... You can also place a small metal cup, filled with water, in the rice cooker to give weight to your small, light weight, recipes....

    • @toppersouthtexas6625

Added... I use a donut weight (used to hold cloth while cutting) on the lid to hold the rice pot down... Works for me...

So what movie did you watch?
I would need more popcorn than that, but that's probably why I have to eat keto . 😅😅😅🤦
