  • Before Collider’s screening of The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power last week, Editor-in-Chief Steve Weintraub spoke to the cast and crew behind Prime Video’s most successful series in history. During his interview with Morfydd Clark, a standout actress who took on the part of Galadriel for the show, they discussed what an experience it was to step into such an iconic role and filming Season 1’s big reveal.
Rings of Power takes fans back a thousand year before the events of Peter Jackson’s trilogy to a younger Middle-earth. Set during the Second Age, the Galadriel we meet, Clark’s portrayal, is far removed from the restrained composure of Cate Blanchett’s. Instead, Galadriel is a warrior, Void-bent on exacting revenge for the death of her brother, Finrod (Will Fletcher), which is the drive that keeps her fighting the evil she believes has returned to Middle-earth.
During their interview, Clark talks about the skills she had to master in order to become Galadriel, and the thought behind taking on such a significant role. She also shares how she immerses herself in J.R.R. Tolkien’s universe, filming the season’s big reveal, and whether she believes Galadriel was swayed at all by Sauron. For all of this and her Season 2 tease, you can watch the video or read the full transcript below.

What a lovely person. Really looking forward to season 2. I felt she was born to play the role of Galadriel while I was watching season 1

Quite like Morfydd Clark as an actress, but the horrific downgrading of her character in the series as well as Elrond's from their real status and power as written by Tolkien was something I could not get around. She at the beginning of the 2nd Age was the most powerful being in Middle Earth except for the hidden Sauron, her history and flaws are simply not brought forward in anyway. No one had authority over Galadriel, certainly not her nephew, Gil-Galad, she in fact rejected the authority of the Valar themselves over her and their right to judge her in her part of the rebellion. Tolkien's word describing her the greatest of the Eldar born of Valinor, save for Feanor alone.
Elrond was the direct heir of Gil-Galad and born under the light of the Silmaril to be the heir of all three houses of men and the Second House of the Noldor. Trained in war by two of the most deadly Elven Lords of the First Age. If they had cast Celebrian Galadriel's daughter in the style they did I would have been fully behind the character. Zero excuse for the Elrond crap.

i dont know if it is the material or her acting but she was not likeable at all as galadriel in season 1. season 2 better be a vast improvement.

"Prime Video’s most successful series "
actual lower rating on their own platform than intern series.

      "in J.R.R. Tolkien’s universe"
      has a fan-fic love-story with Sauron...........
you know, the Tolkien-fans cringed already heavily with the potential love-story demands in the Hobbit between Galadriel and Gandalf and were outraged by a potential misbehaviour of Weinstein against the actor Cate Blanchett.
And these guys, who stood directly behind female actors in the MeToo movement, hated your idiotic love-story.
