    Best thing I ever did was replace the stock carb with a vm24!

      Kip Painter did you have to do any modifications to the carb to make it work or was it plug and play?

    Thank you so much! This method really took the guess work out of the equation, especially with the lack of technical data available for this carb. I appreciate you making this video!

    So I found a piece of debris in the needle, put it back together and it started leaking again….because I put the float in backwards!!!!!. Realized this after watching the video again …i tried bending the clip & took it apart probably 25 times!!! Thanks for sharing this.

      @@andersonparajon1647 yes I replaced the float and the needle valve. I had to adjust it in very small movements with the little adjustment tab on the float to get it to stop leaking and also idle properly. The Yamahas can be a bit temperamental when you start messing with this. Just make small adjustments until you achieve what your looking for.

    The over flow drain hose exceeds the elevation of the fuel in the bowl.
    It was probably an oversight.

    I'm 5 years late but where does the fuel overflow valve lead to? Its the see-through red tinted wire that goes from the fuel bowl towards the engine I believe. Just unsure if it actually connects to anything as it drips gas while I'm trying to get my bike started

    Turns out our float valve isn't letting gas in to bowl, the gas come directly in thru a non threaded hole almost below where gas tube enters carb ?

    Did you ever put vm24 carb on because I was gonna order it but it seems like it’s only for the older model ttrs and I have a 2009 ttr 125 with different throttles.

    I bought my ttr brand new and of course it’s stupid lean. That white round peice u put on the main jet was just sitting on the bottom of my carb. Are they suppose to be there or?

      I don't think it goes where he put it in the video the parts microfichefrom Yamaha shows it sits in the bottom not where he put it. been working on one that was where he put it and it would run on choke only but backfired and sputtered and when I put it back in the bottom of the bowl like that one was and like the microfiche calls for it ran fine. who knows

  • @rigguyjt
    @rigguyjt 5 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    You shouldn't have to adjust float height to make it quit leaking. You should clean needle and seat and put back together and try it. All you did was make a lean condition.

    • @rigguyjt

      @@Musalini-oq7bu as far as the TTR 125 or 90 go, this about it. If you have a CV carb like this one, I suggest just making sure you don't have any vacuum leaks or the slide won't work properly as it works off vacuum. These carbs are very temperamental but if you keep them stick with genuine parts and keep them tuned in you can't lose. Hope that helps.

    I just picked up a ttr125. Started leaking after the first 5 min ride. I bent that tab up just the slightest bit, after putting it together bike wouldn't start. Might just buy a new carb, only $50 and rebuild kits are $40

      As many as you need to get it idling properly. I usually go half-turns at a time.
