Cicero is so fascinating. Love his sparks ... lol. Great lecture professor Sadler. BTW if there is no C sound in Latin why do we still pronounce Cicero with c rather than k? Thank you
Well, that's partly a function of Latin in the middle ages changing some of the consonant sounds from what they were in classical Latin. English is strange in that respect anyway - we pronounce "J' differently than many of the other European languages do, for example. . .
Interesting video mate. I was wondering, would you be free at any point to come onto my channel for an interview? I've had Massimo and Donald on so far and I think everyone would enjoy hearing your opinion on certain topics. All the best.
+James Corey Ha ha, "daily Sadler" .. I love that because it is the same with me. Tapping into Iron Maiden fans' favorite salutation I go for: Up the Sadler! (It is very respectful, something like: Hail Sadler!
"If you want to make a person happy, add not to their riches but remove their desires".
Exactly.
Another great video Dr. S - gotta love the Stoics!
Thanks!
Great - you don't see enough Philosophy and Wealth insights out there. Many thanks
You'll find many in ancient philosophy
@@GregoryBSadler I've love Seneca - stoicism has taught me a lot in life. Any other recommendations?
Great, Cicero and Seneca are my favourite stoics, find them the most relatable and practical
Well, you do know that Cicero isn't a Stoic, but rather an eclectic who likes the Stoics
@@GregoryBSadler even more relatable than a stoic, someone who likes them!
I bet Seneca would've approved on the title of this work! Nice video.
Perhaps he might. . . . - glad you enjoyed it
Thrift is an income. I love this. I come from a long line of skinflints and misers.
I loved the ending summary, thanks
You're welcome!

Circe1 it's from church latin. There are other differences than just the c/k thing. Church latin has pronunciation rules that sound more italian.
Yep, and church latin is coming from medieval latin. . .

You're welcome!
7:00 I thought, for a moment, you actually had a Gideon Bible in your hand.

Sure - why don't you email me at greg@reasonio.com and we'll find a good day/time
well if I didn't have the latest technology, there wouldn't be a Dr. Sadler on my screen.
I'm using some of the not-latest to view it and respond to your comment right now.
Yeah I'm on a 1960 IBM with 8mb of ram and I'm getting my daily Sadler and I'm happy
