Correction: Christianity and Islam are the most common religion in Nigeria but they're not the only religion.. there's also the traditional religion which differs with different tribes
My thought exactly!!
I was looking for this comment
Thank you sister
Very well noted. I cringed when I heard him say there were only two religions in Nigeria (both imported).

Nigeria 🇳🇬 is very diverse, almost a mini Africa. It is a land of a thousand Kingdoms. Highly underrated and misunderstood!
Even Nigerians font understand or know all the ethnicities in Nigeria
@@Peterjev6 I doubt if God Himself knows the number of ethnic groups in Nigeria. I've seen figures ranging from 250 to 1000+ different languages ....It certainly makes the country an exciting place to experience.

I’m so happy to see this on the channel today. The guy in the video is actually a Ghanaian brother. We love our Nigerian siblings so much! Love from 🇬🇭
We are above 200 million people, and currently the 5th largest country in the world
🇳🇬🇳🇬
I’m a Nigerian but that’s a crazy population, northerners should slow down on their birth rate,
@@akojiodinaka5042
The explosion in birth isn't attributed to the northern part of the country alone.
There's been record numbers also in the southern and western part as well.
The onslaught of Boko Haram and other criminal elements has significantly slowed the birth rate in the last decade
So nigeria is home to the best music industry, fashion and beauty industry and writers in Africa. Our authors are amazing. The first African to win the miss World is Nigerian. Nigerians are amazing and very diverse. A typical Nigerian is trilingual. Nigeria is def home to a lot of rich people too
I’m Proud to be American Nigerian God bless y’all.
Much love ❤️ Bro 👊
There are more than 2 religions in Nigeria. The traditional religion is a 3rd major religion. In every family especially in the south western part ( Yoruba), the have people practicing each and every of the 3 major religions. In my family for instance, there are muslims, Christians and traditional worshippers. Olua is worshipped on my mother's side. Logun ede is worshipped on my father's side. They co-exist without conflicts. * The youtuber spelt Yoruba wrong.
Nigerians write good books . My favourite books (fiction) are mostly by Nigerian authors.
Yes true
Omg...the wedding video in the beginning, I was part of the crew that covered that event. Cool to see it here❤️
Shout out to that brother... but he's Ghanaian so he messed up some pretty important things. You can't say Nigeria has ONLY two religions - traditional religions are widely practiced and still respected in many corners. Also, while there are three "main" ethnic groups they are not the only dominant group. Among other noteworthy groups are the Ijaw (South-South/Port Harcourt), Edo (Benin City), Efik/Ibibio
A lot of inaccuracies in the original video:
1. Per Wikipedia, the population of Nigeria is 225 million.
2. There are other religions asides Christianity and Islam. There is the Yoruba traditional religion with the orishas and small percentage of Hinduism(e.g the Guru Maharaj and Hare Krishna sects) and also the atheist community is now being recognized.
I would love to start a Quasi panantheist group in Nigeria as a Nigerian
11:09 If you are visiting Nigeria make sure you come down to lagos. It's just like New York City you can find anything you want there even though our capital is in abuja in themiddle of the country. The social center is lagos.

Couple of corrections.
1. There are actually over 500 languages spoken in Nigeria. Unfortunately some of the languages and people are getting extinct so the part about the 200 languages is wrong.
2. The religion bit as well. Sonics Christianity, Islam and the traditional worship that is related to our folklore. This traditional is kept alive and you can even find traces of it brazil and haiti. I recommend you watch more than a country on Netflix it will shed more light on the traditional worship.
Nigeria's economy is not 80 percent oil based however its government revenue is 80 % from the oil n gas industry
I have tried without luck to explain this fact to people. Nigeria have a very complicated political system which was leased from America and Britain and we have not ma aged to make work. It is why the FG can have a spending system which is totally different from the nation's spending. Then we have the states with the powerful governors. The senate and the powers they hold in their constituencies which make them feared. The members of the national House of assembly. The state Houses of assembly in 36 states. Unlimited commissioners. Several ministers and ministers of state. We have not spoken of special advisers and special assistants and special girlfriends of all these people. This are the controllers of the 80% but there is the indigenous private sector which is hugely responsible for the success story of Nigeria.
@len darko What is the 20% national revenue comprised of, and why is it yielding only 20% of national revenue if it represents a larger chunk of the economy, is it pricing or not exporting or not being taxed?
Northern Nigeria has Muslim dominated while southern Nigeria has been dominated by Christians. The Muslims in southern Nigeria are tolerant, unlike the fanatics in northern Nigeria. Education in southern Nigeria is high compared to northern Nigeria.
You both are Amazing, I am from Nigeria, I like your content, keep it up, I just subscribed to your channel 😊

As much as I want you guys to move to Nigeria for a bit, Port Harcourt to be precise, I'd advice you to know somebody. There's always a lot going on but if you don't know anybody, it's going to be a boring experience. You just need 1 person that'll introduce you to others and the rest will take it from there

Nice job my family you guys have loves from Nigeria 🇳🇬
Religion or no religion Nigerians don't intentionally hurt foreigners
Just to add that though the North have predominantly Muslims they are not all Muslims. People often think Hausa/Fulani are automatically Muslims. That is not true a lot of Hausa and Fulani people are Christians, they confuse their tribe for their religion. Islam is not only practiced in the north but also in the south
Also there are hundreds of other tribes aside hausa and Fulani in the 19 northern states
@@gladysmaya2352 Northern States are not 19. That’s some political and imperialistic BS. There is no way Kwara, Kogi, Benue, Nassarawa, Abuja, etc are geographically in the North. There are in CENTRAL NIGERIA or what some call “Middle Belt”. We need to educate our people.
@@Damian-rt3rt soo true, you're right. But all have different tribes/languages aside hausa...that's the point am trying to pass across.
@@Damian-rt3rt you're right the north central state are not core North,if not for political reasons, our politicians have decided to put the region into the north central geopolitical zone
Also, yorubas are like 50/50 in terms of being muslims and Christians, the north has got Christians as well, but not not has predominant as in the south. The ibos are predominantly Christians.
I actually disagree Yoruba's aren't 50/50 in terms of being Muslims and Christians...like the ratio of Christians to Muslims is 7:4.
@@johnfamoroti4298 the logic here my friend is not religious dominance, its more about the balanced spread and presence of both religious bodies.
But if you can name 1 yoruba state that is entirely made up indigenous Christians, then I will accept your ratio of 7:4, if not lets just stick to the religious spread of 50/50. And be mindful of those that indulge in the traditional religious worship.
@@Wady112 i disagree with you dear on Yoruba on the chances of being 50/50 Christians and Muslims. We have more Christians more than muslims.christians are more dominant in state like Ondo and ekiti state

Thank God for videos like this
You both even look Nigerian I can even tell your tribe.
This guy is just about 40% right. His statistics are wrong or old.
1. Nigeria is currently about 210 million.
2. Housa and Fulani are two different ethnic groups. House/Fulani is just political and manipulative to edge other ethnic group in Nigeria.
3. The percentage of 18% IGBO, 21% YORUBA and 29% HOUSA statistics are just political. Eg, after the indigens of every city in Nigeria, the second most population are the IGBOS where'as 96% of the population in IGBO Cities and Towns are IGBOS. You cannot travell 4killometers in IGBO Land without seeing a village,Town or City but in the North between Bauchi and Maidugri is 56killometers with no Hut at sight talk of a City. They have MORE LAND MASS but not more population.
In Lagos the YORUBAS are just about 3% more than the IGBOS in population to be honest so how can any of these tribe be more populated than the IGBOS. It is just pure politics. Everything political is tribalized in Nigeria just to egde other groups the reason for the political problems in Nigeria apart from the insecurity by the Fulani JIHADIST trying to grab indigenoues poeple's Land and convert them to Islam. IGBOS are more populated followed by YORUBAS the HOUSA to be honest,
The three major groups are IGBOS, YORUBA and HOUSA. The FULAS are in the minority
4. Apart Christianity and Islam there are Pagans and Animists.
210 million people to be exact!
I'm a Nigerian I'm here for this lol
The Nigeria we all know and see everyday on the internet is the southern side that’s the Christian region and it’s more diverse and beautiful
The North is actually diverse. Would you believe that the number of Christians in the North is up to 40 percent? Would you believe that the North has more then 50( a lot more) languages? Do you know that the Fulanis are not up to 4 million in Nigeria (there are a minority tribe, who have succeeded in capturing the Hausas and use them for their imperialistic goals)
The census in Nigeria is always skewed to give an outsized advantage to Northern Muslim populations.
@@Damian-rt3rt I can agree with you
Let me make a few corrections:
There are 3 major religions in Nigerian, Christianity, Islam and traditional worships which differ based on tribe. There are other religions practiced here.
We have dozens of ethnic groups, igbo, hausa, yoruba, ibibio, tiv, fulani, kanuri, ijaw, edo, itsekiri, just to mention a few,ans about 525 different languages are spoken in Nigeria, igbo, hausa and yoruba being the 3 major languages and English is the official language. it's the largest black nation (means we don't have white people like South Africa), population is over 225 million
3:15 uh oh yoruba was mispelt.
We over 200 million people
Ty ❤
The information is not a 100% correct about the religions, there is also the African Traditional Religion, although just a small percentage of the population still practice it.
Nigeria population is now more than 200 million
As a Nigerian we are 206+ million 360 ethnic groups 500+ languages fun ass crazy yet loving folks and whatever he said there that needs alittle correction
I think you guys should see a movie titled ( the woman king ) we have a Nigerian actor in the movie, he played the role oba
Please kindly react to Nigerian cities like Kano, Uyo, Enugu, Port Harcourt, Calabar, Owerri, Kaduna, Jos etc to discover core Nigeria away from Lagos and Abuja.

Ethnicity is different from tribes but tribes , are found inside ethnicity
Igbo is an ethnicity, same as yoruba's and Hausa.....
Fulani is an ethnicity but they're not indigenous to Nigeria, they're intruders
In the south of Nigeria
You can find the Yoruba ethnicity, Igbo , ogoni, Efik , ijaw
So how are we that much in ethnicity, they're just mistaken tribe from ethnicity
Where are the intruders coming from? Fulani people!! A South African brother who’s curious 🧐

Nigeria 🇳🇬 is home of 2013 million people only Lagos is 21million
Nigeria is more than 200million people. We have three major religion . Which is Traditional, Christianity, Islamic religion.
There's also a difference between Hausa and fulani their languages don't fall other one language group ,northern nigeria is hausa dominated ,besides that there are other indegenous tribes in the north ,the fulanis are a settler group who have come to live with the Hausa some 300yrs ago .
3:03 519 ethnic groups actually
We have over 250

We have 3 major religions in Nigeria....Our traditional religious(Africa spirituality), Christianity and Islam.
There is nothing like hausa - Fulani this two are different tribe, hausa is the major tribe and Fulani is minor
Bro, they are mix... in fact most fulanis in Nigeria are assimilated into the Hausa culture. None of the the fulani people in Nigeria, speaks fulfube, they speak Hausa mostly!

Nigeria population is over 210million
Nigeria is over 200m in population, not 160m
Go check on the movie" nemaste wahala" between Nigeria and Indian
Nigeria is Approximately 218million people

Nigeria's population is over 200 million now
Nigeria has about 220 million people , not 160 million. The 160 million was from almost 25 years ago.

I think this video is old, Nigeria is over 200 million according to 2021 census.
I will have to disagree with the brother, we do not have only 2 religion in Nigeria,we have a lot, I guess what he would have said was Muslim and Christian was the 2 major religion. Sending my 🤎 guys

Ah 160 Ke? O wrong o.
It isn’t underrated but they have 3 religions
Christian religion
Islamic

But e be every other thing is right
And Nigerians are very nice and cool I mean there are super friendly with foreigners 😊
The funny thing is that they don’t teach Africans about the United States too…. I can barely mention up to 10 countries from other continent too. So it’s also the same here. 😁❤️
I want to know more about African Traditional religions of Nigeria like Yoruba religion.
Yoruba ain't religion but tribe man
The population of Nigeria is definitely over 160mil. As at last census it was said to be 200mil. Also there are 3 major religion not 2. They are the Christian religion, Islamic religion and traditional religion. The 3 are fully practiced but national holidays are given for just the Christian and Islamic religion. The northern part although practice Islam, they have a lot of orthodox Christians although they all dress alike like the Muslims. It's just a way of life n culture
Not all dress like muslims.there are so many Christian's in kaduna,plataeu,taraba,etc...they don't dress like muslims
It's only in Adamawa and borno and some north eastern states that dress like Muslims e.g wearing of hijab is a tradition in the north eastern Christians in Nigeria

Dem family, Nigeria is "50%" christian, in the way America is "100%" Christian. E.g., the President in U.S. is sworn in on Bible, most people would call themselves Christians etc. But like with the U.S., on ground people believe a whole bunch of different things. We even have Krishna in Nigeria lol
