I think the singing aspect depends on taste. The singing style tends to be somewhat loud, not as melodic, but more shaky or arabic sounding (like Fuji), or more like a monotonous call and response African pattern. I mainly like the dundun (talking drum). Most Yoruba church choruses are translated from Igbo. I don't think the singing is the main strength, but instead the drumming/instrument and partying.

@@lilmizzije, I agree with you to a certain extent but that statement is not applicable to all cases. I.e. huge percentage of white folks don't like black folks. That's majority. Personally, I don't believe that the Ndi-Igbo that despise Yorubas are the minority. Because alot of them supported the derogatory terms that Nnamdi Kalu was using on Yorubas. There were urging him on. And i also on social media platforms, the way some of these folks speak ill of Yorubas is out of this world. And i am not saying some Yorubas don't dislike Ndi-Igbo because they do. But the tribal slurs that some of these scumbags often use on Yorubas, are out of this world. Especially on TH-cam. Because it's very easy to hide your identity on TH-cam. I don't really give a toss if you like me or not. But if you disrespect me, I will disrespect you. This is a tribalistic country, and i don't delude myself. But it is what it is.
Forget about the naysayers, tribal mistrust and political jingoism. I did my NYSC in Ondo state, and it was fun. Yorubas are cool people and their ladies are lovely.
I am suspecting you now oo What did you do in Ondo Mr Man, Ondo people have very beautiful Yoruba women or gals should I say they look more like Igbo women.
I like the sound of Yoruba language and how the people preserve it and pass it on (despite their own challenges with modernisation). Also Yoruba weddings are very colourful and interesting - full of story telling. Respect wise, they are very good at kneeling down, laying down to greet etc. but can be quarrelsome and insulting when they want to be. Also I think they tend to be politically correct unlike some other people groups who tend to say things as they are and act according to their conviction no matter whose ox is gored. However, on a personal level, I have met several lovely Yoruba people who have been very kind and considerate. I wish them well xx
I'm a Ghanaian,l loved the Yurubas bcos they respect more than any tribe in the world.Even they see any elderly person,no discrimination at all in them.

It's just a compliment to Yoruba cooking. But Nigeria as a whole has a lot of good cultural foods. Yoruba doesn't actually have much variety of original foods/soups like many other tribes in terms of foods. So it's just a compliment to admire amala and gbegiri, but don't think it is the best food in Nigeria, talkless of the world.

Big ups to Genius TV for this wonderful initiative. I wish we can upscale it. God bless Nigeria.
Hello my Igbo family I found out I am Nigerian and huge percentage and I’m from the Igbo people so I would live to no how was my ancestor sold to the Jamaican masters ..
Igbos didn't participate in the slave trades however, because Igbos practised a "democratic" but independent style of communal living with no central government, power or unifying elements where all the tribes within the Igbo race fought for a common course "Lack of Igbo nationhood", the Igbos at the peripheral were victims of kidnappers from foreign places. Also, within AlaIgbo, a sect of priestly tribe fell to corruption with monetary enticements from European slave traders, they took Igbos who came to their courts through dubious judgements and rituals and were sold. However, most were victims of kidnapping.
We have more good things to share than bad ones. If the media focus on these good points, it will reinforce the relationship between our tribes. Good one
What most don’t know is Igbos and Yorubas would have made the perfect allies. It’s just unhealthy competition for prominence that has destroyed what could have been.

All your points are laughable but if am not Yoruba I will reason the same way too.

I am Yoruba but I love my Igbo people. I love their food, their hardworking spirit and their women......The woman I loved to marry then is from Anambra State, Njikoka Local Government precisely. I generally love the igbos because they are very much like us.
I love The hustling spirit, the ability to be be happy even with little, the Yoruba drums, Amala and ewedu, the ability to make a place lively. I love my Yoruba people. My best friend is Yoruba. That man I love with passion. Never a dull moment with.
Wow I can’t believe nobody mentioned their singing abilities. They can sing Walahi
True!
Imagine..that's also what I was wondering...
No one mentioned Fela Kuti
I think the singing aspect depends on taste. The singing style tends to be somewhat loud, not as melodic, but more shaky or arabic sounding (like Fuji), or more like a monotonous call and response African pattern. I mainly like the dundun (talking drum). Most Yoruba church choruses are translated from Igbo. I don't think the singing is the main strength, but instead the drumming/instrument and partying.
@Mercy "Most Yoruba church choruses are translated from Igbo" *DUMB COMMENT. What Mr Klasic said is correct.* *YOUR TRIBALISTIC Mind is only trying to start a competition that only exist in your head.*
i think every tribe can sing in Nigeria..it isn't a unique quality if you ask me
i'm Ibo and i love the Yorubas, very lovely language and culture unique beauty
You r not Igbo, stop lying. A real Igbo man will not spell ‘ibo’ like that.

Yorubas are respectful, damn!
They can greet you thrice in a day.
They speak their language everywhere.

I'm an Igbo man. Yoruba people value their language so much unlike my people. I cherish them so much because of that.
That is so sad. Even went as far as replacing their greetings with English.
But no be ur shout nah
I think we are all the same about the language stuff. As a Yoruba man i also to think that Igbos do more in making sure that their children learn the language even if they are living at far end of the world..

@@JustForfYou, and did i say everyone is going to like me?? So, what are you on about????
Forget about the naysayers, tribal mistrust and political jingoism. I did my NYSC in Ondo state, and it was fun. Yorubas are cool people and their ladies are lovely.
I am suspecting you now oo
What did you do in Ondo Mr Man, Ondo people have very beautiful Yoruba women or gals should I say they look more like Igbo women.

Love love love Yoruba folk! They cherish their culture, language & they're fun to be with. I have friends from all parts of Nigeria. I love all Nigerians!
I worked for two Yorubas as my CEOs. I also have a lot of them as friends. Shout out to all Yorubas with real love. I am always afraid to come out when I do good to them. They will be greetings me like " Thanks for yesterday", "Thanks for day before yesterday" Lol. One love

@@siatta1001 Probably you referring to the foreign foods like pizza, burger, salad, macaroni cheese, lasagna, kenturky fried chicken, potato fries....No way dear!

You know that family first thingy. And of course the worldwide acclaimed Apprenticeship system, developed and practiced by the Igbos deserves to be studied and passed from generation to generation and to the uttermost part of the world.
