Hello Bhante. I've been keeping the precepts for only a few months, and am learning as I go from books and talks, but I feel like I have barely scratched the surface of what there is to know in terms of basic things like the differences between various buddhist traditions. This makes me feel like joining a local or online sangha would be premature. When you first became interested in buddhist practise, at what point did you move from learning on your own to seeking out a sangha? Do you think it's important to investigate each tradition before making a decision like this? Thanks for your time

I dreamed I cut my hair with a steel saucage clamp, my hair was very thick. Then I dreamed that I visited my old taekwondo club, where my instructor handed me an assignment. There is a sutta where some king asks about dreams, then the monk lists six dreams, where the sixth, prophetic dreams are the only ones that matter. I disagree. Lucid dreams or nothing. How can one claim to be awake, yet not have lucid dreams? Because what is a dream, but to emerge from the void, without your knowledge, in a drunken stupor where you accept everything as it appears before you. Might as well die and reincarnate as a stupid baby who remembers nothing. If someone cheats before me in line at the store, it doesn't matter because I will get groceries in five minutes. Those four hours, they're gone and they're actually an insult. So I tried to lucid dream again, wake inducing it. As soon as I felt that demonic form of sleep possessing the eye mucles, the roof of my mouth, the tip of my nose, still not seing any rainbows. I just got up. Why even lay there. An arahant cannot not lucid dream. There is a lot of work to be done here. Tomorrow it is Saturday. So I will either go to bed a little earlier and see what I can do, or not sleep at all. I want my eight hours aware. It might sound harsh. It is actually not harsh at all. We reincarnated in a 24 hour world, 24 hours should be guaranteed. Where is my 24 hours? I am missing a whole third. And it is not like when someone just cheats in line at the store and I get my groceries anyways. Those hours are gone. Just taken as if they never existed. Just death.

Please forgive me , but a businessman suddenly or more or less a quick change to a monk is fine. Your business experience helps a great deal. But to start teaching others is also ok fine. But what are you really trying to achieve . I was under the wrong impression, as l though a monks life was supposed to be for God alone or Buddha alone. Selfless service to others,. In one way you are doing that, but in another your giving advice or stories, teachings based on your own experience. Which agian is fine. Does not mean that its a way to realization. It may be in your mind, but that does not make it correct. You see take a ice berg one tenth is showing on the surface, the other nine tenths are below . What you are trying to teach is the surface value. The other nine tenths is below the surface. The subjective field of life, or the transcendental or call what you want . Which you cannot teach. 🎉🎉🎉 sorry to sound long winded
Yes. Right view is supported by right samadhi. I can brush it off as insanity, then re-attach to buddhism. I do have that ability, its just not the recommended chain. The recommended chain is to take the phenomenon that arises during samadhi. For example, english monk would have to change his view on dreams if he experienced a dream that foretold the future. But if his experience is that dreams are just a repetition, then that is the correct view for him. Then continue his practise in the 8 fold method and let the chips fall wherever they may. This is much better than to change view because what else said. I have tons of views, if my deep experiences make them change, that too is okay. But what if I am so special that there is no overlap with anyone else? Or none have the same experience? Then it can be fun to hear what someone else view.
There is no God to pray to in Buddhism and Buddhist monastics are supposed to teach, not like Abrahamic religions where they just take your money, don't help, hide away and get fat drinking wine and eating all day. Bhante spent years practising before ordaining, so many videos he's talked about this. Why are you telling Bhante what you judge as ok is ok for him? This is not blind faith, you must do the work yourself and I'm grateful for Bhante as we'd have only mixed up crazy judgemental people around us. This whole thread of conversation is not Buddhist, it's new age mixed with Christian beliefs and who knows what else.
