    Caeleb Dressel is currently the best swimmer in the world. His S&C appears to include lots of olympic lifting and plyometrics. If you watch his start, you can see that he is insanely explosive. Would be interested to see a video on him.

      Dressel would make for an awesome video. He has a few lifts on his instagram but not enough unfortunately

    Rowers would be a neat one to see. Doing 220km a week and strength training for elite rowers.

      Yeah, the dutch eight has some neat lifting videos. I also remember a kiwi rower doing 200kg for 8-10 reps on the deadlift (sadly i dont remember who)

      @@MeszlenyiZslt I think it was Ian Seymour on Nz. Yea the Dutch M8 have a lot of training video, along with GB.

    I swam at the same meet as Peaty a few times. Dude was slamming med balls and doing broad jumps minutes before his races. He is crazy explosive

    I’d be interested in a full video detailing those general expected strength standards/prerequisites. Thanks for the ongoing wealth of content,

    Would be great to hear your thoughts on DeChambeau or any of the modern day golfers doing 'specific' golf power training

      They have a video on DeChambeau if you search for it - maybe Jason Zuback is a guy with workout material online they could talk about?

    The NBA plays 82 games per season while the NFL season is 17 games. Both have post seasons and the NBA can push to 100+ total games for the champion.

    Glute bridges with shoulders on the floor is actually a very good exercise for a breaststroker. You don't need a massive range of motion with the breaststroke kick, just need a very strong and explosive lower back and glutes. We see this with Peaty's technique and the angle of his upper body.

    Ever considered track cycling sprinting? Very strong athletes that need to produce high levels of power across various cadences (velocities) due to the fixed gear nature. Chris hoy, Jason kenny etc

    Back when I used to swim I actually got the pleasure of racing with Peaty and a lot of other athletes from the British squad, I think they came to Northern Ireland as it was one of the last Olympic qualifiers, very cool for sure. Walked past the weight room on the way to warm up and they were just doing light power cleans and med ball stuff.
    From my own experience the S&C wasn’t too bad at all, and even the general knowledge among coaches was pretty good. Mostly basic stuff and nothing crazy which is obviously what you want.
    Swimming training volume is crazy, I think I was training around 18-20 hours (all training considered), with 14 of those being in the pool, and that was just what I was doing as a 15 year old amateur.
    If anyone has any questions regarding the swimming stuff I’d be happy to try and give any info I can.

    I would like to hear your opinion on optimising strength and conditioning for rugby. As a player it's hard to focus on maintaining strength throughout the season while you're still recovering from games. What kind of training would you recommend for rugby players in the off-season and during a season? Also what kind of excersises should a player prioritise?

    I'd say another sport that can have a similar volume to swimming is road cycling. Obviously it goes up and down and they race a lot as well (up to 90 or so race days a year) but for certain periods it's a looot of time on the bike.

    I know it's a meme, but I'd want to hear the actual reasoning behind why it's stupid that he could get too big. I get it if they said too strong I'd hate it, but my guess is she's talking about muscle mass. There's almost definitely an optional bodyweight for swimming performance and I think it's reasonable to think he shouldn't take too much away from his swimming specific adaptations in order to gain more muscle mass. There are some other pretty shit takes in here, but I wanna hear more on that.
    If you want to cover controversial swim training, look at Michael Andrew. He trains 100% specifically with shorter reps at higher intensity and up to this year he hadn't done any weight training (I'm pretty sure he doesn't still). It's a little out of your range since he doesn't do any of the stuff that you guys are professionals in, but it's a very interesting concept to talk about.

    • @joewwright92
      @joewwright92 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think they were suggesting the reason he might get too big if he trained more could be some special supplements he may or not be taking.

    Having too much muscle in swim is a real thing, you go from a swimmer to a sinker real fast, especially if you have big legs

    • @polarbear2335
      @polarbear2335 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Makes sense. Would have thought that too much muscle starts to impede on endurance even at 100m. Might even have an aero effect at a certain point.

    11:30 - sprinting isnt 'linear' just because you run in a 'straight line' - watch some head-on slow motion footage of an elite sprinter and almost nothing moves linearly in the sagittal plane. Love the content otherwise!
