    My cat was sound asleep until you started turning your steering wheel lol

    Very clean set up, looks good. I always hated the way Ford had the power assist, the ones I drove did not work very well and looked even worse ( a bunch of oily hoses lol ). My 72 Ford High boy had manual steering with 17” wide by 40” tires, not bad to steer while moving/driving but could be a bear if you need to turn without moving much. I like the 78-79 set up that Ford used for PS on the F250’s. I loved my 79 with the PS box, NP 205 married transfer case. Funny how GM came out with power steering box first, one wire alternator, and HEI ignition but the Fords back then pre 80 were such better built as far as frame & sheet metal. Again great job ! I’d be interested how this electric works with larger tires like 36” to 38”s.

    Hi, we bought the Steerman kit and also need the new drag link, but can't seem to find it anywhere, everywhere is out of stock. Any suggestions? Thank you

      I'm not sure. I'd reach out to Steerman to see if he can recommend something.

      I ordered part # Moog DS801 from Amazon, I think it was about $60ish. This replaces the hydraulic/four hose apparatus.

    Just installed this setup in m 75 and mine is making that same whining noise but to me it doesn't seem like it's coming from the steering wheel. Mine makes the noise even when the power is off. Did you stop yours from making that noise? How did you fix it? Thanks

    • @gator4917
      @gator4917  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Mine was in my steering wheel, right behind the horn area. I took everything apart and then placed some grease to lubricate it. I really want to remove and replace the entire steering assembly with a ididit steering column.

      @jamesclark9800 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Guys, I have the same setup for my 73’ I’m running 37” tires and the steering unit with the adjustment knob all the way up still feels like manual steering and not enough power to turn the wheels. Have you guys had this issue? Confirmed 12v all the way through the system, plenty of grounds.

      @gator4917  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@jamesclark9800 I had to open up the control box after talking to Steerman cycle and there was a very small set screw. However, that was one of the early control boxes. I would reach out to Steerman and ask him.

  • @jamesclark9800

    Hey man I have a question I have the kit installed on same truck. The red mating clip wire that follows the adjust knob what does that plug into?

    • @gator4917
      @gator4917  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'll need to go look. I know I had to run a "bus bar" of sorts and I think it's a hot wire, but let me check how I wired it. It could also be wired into the control box too, I honestly don't remember. Sorry. My truck is currently getting the axles rebuilt, so I don't have access to my truck at the moment.

    How did you remove the power steering control valve?

    • @gator4917
      @gator4917  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Are you talking the drag link that connects to the axle from the pitman arm? If so, I used a Moog drag link, no control valves. I don't remember the part # though. I then just removed everything else, steering assist (stabilizer looking part), hoses and the pump.

    • @gator4917

      Sorry about that. Yeah, the fender needed trimmed a little. Removal of the old steering was a pain, I had to pull the gearbox to make the geometry work for putting it back together.
