      When you play Skyrim, Clavicus Vile will tell you that he can't manifest any place else than the statue he's at, because some of his power is in his dog. Without the statue he wouldn't even have been there.

    I doubt the statue was removed.I mean it was formed by Akatosh so maybe anyone that tried removing or destroying the statue might just die or get paralysed.And the Mede Dynasty probably wouldn't destroy it for social and political reasons and it might as well use it as a symbol of hope you know for propaganda and they probably rebuilt the temple of the one around the statue making the temple bigger for we know there must be cult like following for Martin Septim and Akatosh.That's just what I think

      @@flamesofchaos13 I'm directly against making a canon ending. I don't like that at all... People might say that Dragon Breaks are lazy plot devices, that it's shitty writting, but I doubt many of these people can even understand what "a" Dragon Break is, how it works, and how it "revolves" around the plots. It wasn't lazy. It was a genius idea that fits perfectly with the overall lore.
      Daggerfall's Dragon Break explanation (which even in-universe is doubted, as seen in later books) makes every ending possible. It gives you the possibility to believe in whatever ending you desire, because they're all true. People might say they make all of them meaningless, but it gives you the power to choose your story, in your head. Choosing a canon ending would make all but one important. (Like the Colony Wars series, which had 5 endings and the 3rd one is the canon to the sequel).
      It's not like Fallout which forces you a canon ending and forces you into your own grandson in the village you founded. That, is what I would hate. Some endings just should remain forever open, for as dificult as it might be. Elder Scrolls is unique, and stripping it of Dragon Breaks and the like would reduce it to nothing more than any other videogame franchises.
      And I'm sorry for correcting you, but I could help myself. It's "should have", not "should of". A common mistake...)

    • @flamesofchaos13
      @flamesofchaos13 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@SterbenCyrodill A Dragon Break is nothing but a time-paradox a very common literary feature in multiple stories of which it's always an excuse to not have a reasonable and understandable consistent lore that doesn't include a single plothole. Fine it doesn't need a Canon ending keep it unknown like *EVERY SINGLE OTHER* Elder Scrolls game to exist.
      You literally don't need the Dragon Break to have the ability to make head-canons and fan fictions. Literally every single Fandom does it without making official lore that contradicts itself. An if it does it's literally called shitty writing and critiqued.

    • @SterbenCyrodill
      @SterbenCyrodill 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@flamesofchaos13 "nothing but a time-paradox". That's a very crude explanation of what a Dragon Break is. While at it's core is how it works (*kinda*), in consistency with many plot devices developed through out the ages, a Dragon Break is much more than that. At least nowadays, 23 years after Daggerfall first came out.
      And you just can't ignore such a dramatic event like the Warp in the West and the consequences it had on the political landscape inside the Empire proper, even if I do agree, that's what I defend. Nowadays there are solutions for problems like this.
      I never said you needed a Dragon Break for that. Dragons breaks are rare events and only once seen in the games, at least directly. Making a fan-fiction not contradict the original story is easy and basic, but if you're given the possibility of role-playing a character and then you're forced to accept that the history you created is not accepted because of the "true" ending, ala Fallout 1 and 2. With devices like this, you can make ALL endings cannon, not wasting your own created history in game, following up directly as you see fit and wish.

    Theory 2 and 3 are extremely unlikely, know whats worse for your dynasties legitimacy than a reminder of the old one? publicly spitting in the face of the church, the gods, and the people by tearing down a statue of their chief diety. The Thalmor are unlikely to have torn it down as well because that hurts their image as well, seeing as Akatosh (Auri-el) is the chief god of their church as well. Most likely its either still there or it got destroyed in the fighting between The Imperial City and one of the Usurper Emperors, or by the Thalmor when they sieged and sacked the Imperial City.

In skyrim the thalmor dont really go directly against the dragonborn even after the diplomatic immunity quest evem more if you go for the peace talks by not taking a side you can pretty much give them a huge middle finger by saying th blades are under your protection and cant be touched. Hi, i really never stopped to think what happened With the statue of Martin Septin avatar of Akatosh, the subject is really interesting. I think that Bethesda simply ignored the fact that among all the ElderScrolls games most of the events of the previous games are mentioned superficially, which always seemed a very weak point.
    Personally the theory that the Mede dynasty has moved the statue is not possible, because despite emerging from the Interregnum as a new dynasty, it needs to legitimize part of the fame of the previous empire and above all to maintain the imperial authority over the other provinces. Also, since they faced The Talmor, the figure of Martin Septim as the savior of Tamriel served to maintain the morale among the human factions. It is a toería but, it can sustentrarse since The Mede dynasty conserves in the Imperial standard the Heraldry of the Septim Dynasty (The dragon Forming a diamond). Thing that did not happen between the Reman empire and the Septim.
    For that reason I find more possible the theory that the talmor during the occupation allan scrap the statue. But if they did, it is not uncommon for the temple to have been rebuilt, since it would not be necessary to alter the building, only to remove the statue or destroy it.
    Another issue is, is the statue easy to destroy? Why is it made of the material of the avatar of a God? Or is it just Roc? And if it was destroyed, could someone be left with some remains? They would be a very powerful symbol among Talos cultists after the cult was banned by the Talmor. It is a pity that we did not find any of that in Skyrim, as it would have been an interesting arc of adventures to play.
    Pd I'm sorry if I wrote something wrong, but I'm using a translator.

The gods have influence in Mundus and not only he was a dragonborn and favored by the divines but also azura , I doubt anyone would try to damage it for fear of being punished by one of them, moving the somewere else on other side may even have some good political results if the ruler dedicated a memorial to him or the dead on the oblivion crisis.

    Amazing video! It's really interesting that the statue is never mentioned again after Oblivion... You would imagine its fate would be something extremely important, as it's basically the physical remains of a god, yet we never hear about it in Skyrim, or the books, or Legends.
    I'm personally willing to bet it was indestructible, and the imperials likely recognized its value soon after Oblivion ended, and they probably moved it somewhere. If not, then it was probably destroyed by the Thalmor... :(
    Maybe it's missing from the cutscene in Legends because of developer oversights, but I'd like to believe it's still out there somewhere, maybe being kept invisible by powerful illusion magic, or that it was transported somewhere secret. Bethesda wouldn't just forget about it, and I'm willing to bet we haven't quite seen the last of it yet.
    Thanks for making a whole video about it!

    I agree with you that the statue was unstable. Just looking at, I'm surprised they were and to finish building it at all. • @derskalde4973
    @derskalde4973 ปีที่แล้ว

    If it was removed, i think the Thalmor are the most likely culprits.
    Even if "redecorating" during times of war should not be a priority, the war of the Thalmor is as much a war of ideology as it is over territory, so propaganda would likely be a big part of it.
    Just look back at WW2, when the germans invaded Poland, where they, iirc, took a few hours to saw that border barrier mostly through, just so they could heroically "brake" it for the cameras. Or that famous photography of the russians soldiers, waving their flag triumphantly atop the german Reichstag just after the germans were defeated, that was clearly staged for Propaganda two days later, because at the moment, there was no cameraman, and you can see that some of the soldiers already looted a few things.
    Such things aren't necessary and useless from a purely logistical point of view, but are pretty important from an ideological and/or propaganda viewpoint.

Sure their version of our fav dragon daddy is different then their's but I doudt they would risk. Whats stopping it from waking up and trying to kill you for being a little s**t? Plus they know the truth them not stopping the gates. Martin did. They would try to say the humans build it to not give them credit. Humans being crybabies type things.

    I would think that, given the Dominion's track record, during a time of war they would want to destroy the statue just to raise the morale of the troops more than anything. If you want these soldiers to give their lives to defend the occupation in the name of Elven Dominance, seeing a massive statue reminding you of mankind's sacrifice to end the Oblivion Crisis would likely interfere with that so it would have been a priority to destroy it

    As fun as these theories are I’m entirely confident that the shot of the imperial city without the statute was either an oversight or the temple has been rebuilt around tbh statute, after all it might get cold in there without a roof lol.
    But this is supported by a few main points,
    1. Bethesda’s dumb but not that dumb, players always like having a sign of their actions and seeing the statue and hearing the legend of Martin and the Champion of Cyrodil when revisiting cyrodil someday would be so great, I’m sure this isn’t lost on them even Bethesda know better than to screw that up.
    2. “It will stand for all time as a reminder of you and Martins sacrifice” this doesn’t sound like a line that’s just his own it sound like it’s supposed to be prothetic, the writer telling us something through a character, and going back to my first point it is in game but we were promised it would stay and the last thing Bethesda needs to do is make even its characters lie.
    3. So I don’t have real definitive evidence of this one but it was never a question in my mind that it’s no ordinary stone, if anything it may be the true body of Akatosh and it’s simply dormant usually since the sacrifice the aedra made for creation and returns to being dormant after so that Akatoshs spirit could return to its normal metaphical role;
    But even still the body is more than stone and like the heart of Lorkhan could not be destroyed by any conventional means and if it was destroyed it may mean the death of Akatosh which would of course lead to far worse problems than Skyrim time Tamriel has
