I had a look at this practice set and the tennis looks pretty solid to me Karue, I like the short wide killer angles you go for often for which shows your skill level is pretty high and also wide down the lines, but just taking your time getting to it. not overcooking, but on your backhand slice, on low balls down near the ground you can't finish low on these or it just dumps half the time into the top of the tape when you drive it and doesn't quite get the clearance. To try to resolve that I switched to a low to high swing instead on that ball and that allows me to pronate the ball through the court instead of just digging it up out of the ground to try to skim it back as its known to hit short and weak or turn into sitters.
Great video. I was hoping Simon would win, he was looking a little tired and it seemed he mis-timmed some shots. Anyway, we want more games like this...
So lucky I could see this in person, just happened to be at Redondo Beach and could not stop looking over. So much more pace in person, and both ppl r super nice in person too
watching you play is such a joy. Your backhand is my favorite stroke but your serve and forehand are tied for second. Your serve just seems to effortless and accurate and today you had some real pop on the forehand side
Great to see you guys play. My two fav matchplay guys. Glad you're healthy and things are good. Play some dubs with him sometime. Have a great year guys!
Didn't even know this was going to be a possibility, two youtubers I watch relatively often. Great match. Respect how both guys don't let ego get in the way, they take on all challengers, and upload the results. Simon really reminds me a bit of a righty Noshioka. Hope he gets to play a Slam.
Really great hitting and another great video. Simon's tough! Hope you both do great in Ithaca. Thanks again for putting together this channel and putting so much great tennis on TH-cam. It's been a big inspiration in terms of me getting back into the sport the last few years. I even got some friends together to get tickets to go spectate at a big tournament for the first time this year (indian wells). My buddy asked me if there were any players I would be excited to see and I realized I'd probably be more starstruck to spot Karue walking around than any of the top ten, haha. But it's true! I'm more invested in this channel and his journey than anything you see on the Netflix show. Anyway. Good game, well played, and thanks for helping bring my enthusiasm for tennis back after a long hiatus. I'm sure I'm not the only one.
amazing to have both top tennis youtube guys playing on my screen on a Sunday. although the game seemed to me a little tentative on ground shots. maybe thats just me? would have been nice to see a post match chat about how you both were feeling on court. outstanding tennis as ever though. thank you very much!!
Amazing hitting. Simon is incredibly talented. Hope to see him within higher rankings. Amazing content K. Always a great pleasure seeing you hit with your clean strokes and mindset with your game. Cheers and hope to see more of this! M
Peak tennis content. Thanks for making this happen. Would love to hear your thoughts on each other's game's. Both of you have some of the best (maybe just the best?) Analysis of play styles on TH-cam. Would be awesome to hear a discussion about this.
CONGRATS ON YOUR ITF25!!! You’ re the guy! Te desejo o melhor cara, aqui no Brasil em SP toda minha galera te acompanha, gostaria de ver um vídeo em português seu. Seria muito irado. Parabéns, Karue, siga em frente cara, sucesso 👏🏻
This is amazing. I have followed both of you for a while and was wondering if there would ever be a link up. I know it's hard with Simon being from sweden.
I learn so much by watching you play Karue. One thing I've noticed is how stable and still you are every time you're about to hit a shot. Zero wasted movements and super efficient and I can see why as any excess movements just creates more things that can break down or go wrong. Thanks for the content and best of luck with your tennis career!
It’s fun to see both of you playing together. Simon possesses a really unique style of playing and hitting the ball as well, which can make him a very dangerous opponent. This wasn’t much of a challenge however! Good luck at Ithaca!❤️🍀

I was going to tell you that you need to stay low through your shots especially on the backhand side, but your explanation at the end made sense. It’s not that you were being lazy, it’s that you were tired from the leg workout before the match. Good luck this year!
damn that shot at 9:35 was so close! the exact contact point with the ground is lost in between frames, but it kinda looks like it might've brushed the line anyways fairplay I guess Simon had the better POV
Nice hitting. With how incredible your topspin/flat backhand is...I would use the slice to slice backhand less! Easy W, too clean. Simon played pretty well himself...volleying and lack of weapons got to him.
Funny, when you guys played the baseline game I took it literally and thought you didn't play a match tiebreak or whatever, but really played games but then without the serve. I thought what a great idea... But then I heard the score being 9-8 or something :)
Will be interesting to see how you go in 2nd round vs Kingsley. You had a solid win in the first round. A shame that Simon didnt get through to the main draw though
I really enjoy watching Karue playing. His style is one I like: he hits "flatter", through the court, but with consistency. Offensive, but not all-in in every shot. He moves well and that backhand is awesome! Vai Karue, tamo na torcida! ;)
Karue pls answer. What do u change mentally/technically to play on clay? I have a similar style but in clay its harder to catch everything on the rise and my shots lose quality if I try to play heavy instead of flat.
I know everyone has their equipment preferences, but I think Simon would benefit from a heavier swingweight on his racquet. You can tell his swingweight is lower than Karue's, and there's a difference in stability/weight of shot. Karue plays so smoothly and lets weight of the racquet plow through the ball while keeping the swing under control. Simon has great strokes but has to keep that racquet speed up so high with more effort to get the same effect. I know it's something that's not easy to adjust to, but I really think some lead at either 3+9, or at 12 like Karue uses could do Simon some good for some extra stability/smoother power. Especially at this level where the weight of shots you're returning is so high.
Awesome practice set! Quick question: What do you think gives you the edge in a lot of the sets you play against these elite players? Just curious. You play a lot of really high level players and seem to edge it out most of the time in a relatively comfortable fashion. The sets always seem really even, but somehow you find a way to gain the upper hand so I know it isn't a coincidence. Do you focus on anything in particular?
What about double? It seems you're good at the net, good return, I think you have the quality of strokes to make damage also at high level double atp game. Around the world, playing with top players, beautuiful cities....not too bad!
My 2 fav ytubers alltime nice play, maybe bothnof you can take out for the community 48 Hours of beeing a professional on tour really getting an image of the daily bases resting, recovery eating practice etc..., i think the community only see some practice some breakfast and some electrolytes, but the work the agility training the stretching...
How did you decide between a platform and pin point serve? Feel like all the modern younger players do pin point. What are the pros and cons of each? If any?
I tried copying Federer when i was young lol and for the most part I think platform is a more reliable movement for most people. Taller people may benefit more from pinpoint since they don’t have to go up so much. But overall I think platform is the better choice for amateurs and shorter players
@@Karue-Sell Thanks for the reply! When I first started playing tennis 2 years ago I just naturally started doing pinpoint(prolly from watching the pros) and honestly it just feels way more natural to me. I’ve tried platform and I feel awkward and off balance. I’m USTA 3.5 and I struggle with a consistency on the serve, when it’s on I get a lot of free points but some days it’s just off the rails(which we all know how frustrating that can be) and I was wondering if maybe the stance could be playing a part in that.
I bet Karue's racquet is heavy. His swing looks slow and easy but the ball comes screaming off the strings. That's also how Nalbandian, Murray, and Berdyche looked, all of whose rackets reportedly weighed close to 13oz.
@@Karue-Sell Oooh U got that thing set up nice...let me guess: just under 2 points head light? Your technique is so clean, it's hard for me to guess right.
