This is great information! You are so right...you need to do your research! Thank God I found a consultant that did a good job on my head. BUT she could stand to be a little more professional. She's good and fast, so she has plenty of clients (which she tends to over book). As a result, her home is a revolving door. Also "some of her personal friends" that comes there doesn't seem to have any filters on their mouths. And interrupts her while she's working. Then I noticed that if you tell her something about your hair. She tend to get a bit offensive about it. Unfortunately this won't work for me. I'm paying you my hard earned money so I want what I'm paying for. Anyways, this prompted me to look up another consultant which I'm meeting with today. And hopefully every thing works out well. *crossing fingers* And even if I switch...it won't be until I get my 1st re-tight that came with the initial price I paid for my installation. Yes ladies, you got's to be cautious, speak up, and do what's right for YOU!

I decided to wait a while longer and save up the extra money and have it done right. It was a difficult decision because my purse is tugging one way and wanting my locks to be awesome is pulling another. It's all clear now and your video helped a lot. I found a consultant with great reviews an awesome portfolio, she's local and registered, none of which the other consultant had. Thanks so much!
+YaYa I know it can be a very difficult decision I remember facing the same myself and it came down to the same thing you said... some people didn't care to have sisterlocks and just want small locs and with that I'd recommend alternatives like braid locs but if you want sisterlocks then unfortunately you have to just save. In all honesty it took me months to save I was wear a turban for like also 5 to 6 months when I was saving because I knew what I wanted and didn't want to do anything else with my hair lol. Good luck girl hope it all works out! ❤❤😊
Yes! That's exactly how I feel! I want to make sure they are done in the best possibly way right from jump! For my hair texture, my hair density, grid and so forth. I don't want to be telling a horror story after having them installed by the wrong person, lol! So this may seem crazy and even though I know who I want to install my locks I'm going to hold off on that installation for a bit longer because I went and signed up for the Sisterlock Training coming up for me in August. Big leap, huh! I thought it would be a great investment one way or another and perhaps I could offer those services to others as well as myself. In any case my Sisterlock Consultant is waiting in the wings and she is there when I'm ready. I pray my Sisterlocks will be as beautiful as yours one day. Thanks so much Abidemi for your inspiration!
Hi thank you for this video, I made the mistake and went to a consuktant who said she would install sisterlocks for me for a good price and what i got was a HOT MESS they where too big not the recommended size,. I eventually pluck up the courage to discuss my concerns and she agreed to do them again and not charge me for the install and three retightening session. This was a emtionally and stressful time because i had to take them all out which took weeks trying to do this around work and family. But I can safely say they look beauriful now 1 year and three months in. Your video is important so we dont make mistake in choosing the wrong consultant. Im now going to a different consultant and im happy with my hair.

Respect ThyCoil I understand where you’re coming from but it’s hard to indicate an average cost because it really depends. It depends on the length of your hair and it depends who’s doing it whether it’s a certified sisterlock consultant or a trainee I paid almost $1000 to get mine installed and my hair was approximately 7 to 8 inches long. Mine was done by a certified sisterlock consultant. I hope this helps have a blessed day.
I got a quote for on average 8 inches (I have a tapered cut from 1 to 12 inches) for $950 by consultant in the Southeast. Retightening would be $150 each 4-6 weeks for at least the first year.

Abidemi---I'm so confused. When you wash sisterlocks....do you have to retwist them every time you wash? I had regular locs years ago and it was virtually impossible to wash my locs without retwisting the root so I am wondering if there is something different with sisterlocks where you don't have to do that

+YaYa she was doing the interlocking technique but the locs were big and there were no uniformed grids. Well the first was I little uniformed but the back was definitely not.
