    I would also say embrace the frizz. Some find this ugly, but I'm enjoying it. Every stage is beautiful. Never had a bad hair day in my 6 month journey. Best decision I could've ever made!

    I have definitely decided to get Sisterlocks installed and my consultation with one consultant is this month. I have done my research and because she is established and local and her work is exceptional, she is expensive. I have other options but so far they leave me feeling doubtful. I decided to slow my roll and pay for my Sisterlocks through installments (kinda like lay-away). I want them done right! It's worth waiting to get them done in the best possible way. My hair is already 10" long and growing fast so by the time I"m ready to have them installed this summer I may have to cut a few inches off just so I can afford it. Anyway, take your time my sisters and choose someone you really trust to do the best possible job even if you have to wait and save up your money. We're worth it! Thanks so much ibyl! Great tips! subscribing.

    Itchy scalp can be due to the fact that your scalp isn’t being combed or brushed - so You actually feel the dead cells breaking off and you have an urge to scratch naturally to help them come off :) . I love your video !! And your Locs are pretty !

      +Giraffeinastang Thank you! What's your number one reason for wanting Sisterlocks?

    • @Giraffeinastang
      @Giraffeinastang 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      My number one reason is because they can truly be beautiful. Two, I'm very physically active in life and work, always on the go, so I struggle with growing and styling my hair. I've been natural for 6 months, I feel Sisterlocks would be the perfect fit for me and my lifestyle.

    Great video! Lady, 4 years later and I still have HHS...bad. 😳 I need help. Lol! Also, crazy but "original " listerine was the best solution to an itchy scalp. By the way...love the hairstyle. I really gotta do better. Peace and blessings my friend. Keep bringing it.

    • @ibyl
      @ibyl  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Inform your loctician of this concern so they can help monitor that area. Less manipulation may allow that area to thicken more. Loving usually provides less manipulation. I have family who started Sisterlocks with thinning areas and those areas have thicken up. I suggest to avoid pulling the hair in that area tightly and even be careful with styles.

  • @mskss9411
    @mskss9411 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Should you take your braiding and banding down right after you wash or once its dry? Im Trying to avoid locs from combining. I'm not locked yet but I have a date soon. Mines will be thin because of fine hair. It seems they may tangle easily at the root. So let it dry or take down while wet?

    • @ibyl
      @ibyl  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It is fine to take down banding as soon as you have finished washing your hair. I think banding is just to reduce the locs unraveling (slippage) or puffing up too much during the washing process.

    hi! ive had my sisterlocks for about 7 months, why do they look fuzzy and my edges are fuzzy too

    • @ibyl
      @ibyl  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      In the past I've gotten a grooming (cut loose hair around the loc) when my locs looked extra fuzzy. I'm not really sure another solution. I didn't have a good experience the last time I had my locs groomed so if they get fuzzy I will just deal with the fuzziness.

    i got my sisterlocks three weeks ago. i was not given the starter shampoo by my consultant, she said she couldn't get them. when i went to my consultation i told her i wanted my hair to have that full look as they grow and she said they would swell and i shouldn't worry. but after getting my install she was now telling me some pple's hair double in size and some remain the size they are, which has gotten me very worried. my locs right now are very thin. i know it's only been 3 weeks, should i be worried based on her comment? my lose natural hair wasn't thin. it was very dense, although soft, but the way she did my locs they're very thin and based on her comment that some pple's hair don't swell, i don't know what to think now

    • @ibyl
      @ibyl  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Oluwakemi O. I wouldn't worry. You are still in the very new beginning stage of the journey. Swelling usually occurs months into the journey. Either way whether your locs swell a lot or a little they will still start to look full if your hair has always been naturally dense. Even with the locs swelling they do settle down to a smaller size they don't typically remain swelled. If your loctician didn't supply you with the starter shampoo you can order it from the Sisterlock website.

      I think with time they will start to drop with maturity/time. Have you tried drying your hair in big braids or fat twists? That helped me stretch my hair so I’m sure that can help loosen the curls.

      +Stephanie Morgan Hey Stephanie! Thanks for tuning in and for the suggestion. I did a video recently called 'Now that would Make Some Good Weave' and it's based on comments I've heard over the years from people about my locs and even when I had loose natural hair. It's not the Storytime style but similar. I will work on one like what you suggested. Happy almost 2 years!

    Do you have to interlock sisterlocks? Is palm rolling an option at all?? Thanks

    • @ibyl
      @ibyl  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Sharee Walls The Sisterlocks locs technique is a specific way of interlocking the hair. They would no longer be considered Sisterlocks if maintained with palm roll. They would be considered traditional locs. The Sisterlocks are typically small so that are also too small to palm roll unless eventually combined. I've heard of people starting with Sisterlocks and combining then palm rolling after that. TH-camr NiqueOasis actually did that.

      Hi, are you using the TH-cam app? There’s a plus sign at the bottom to add media but it has to be a video. Unless you have access to make a post. A post can be a picture.

    • @ibyl

      Hi, no I haven’t experienced thinning at the base.

    I have a question. Do you have to have Sisterlocks installed before you get training as a consultant? Also, does the consultant give you a say about the size of the Sisterlocks. For instance, I've seen some that are really really thin and I prefer they are closer to the size yours are. Thanks in advance!

      +YaYa No, I once went to a Sisterlock Consultant that didn't have Sisterlocks.

    Where do I buy sister lock products products

    • @ibyl
      @ibyl  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Try looking on the Sisterlock website or search on the website for a consultant selling the products in your area. I use to order them from the website or buy from my loctician. I haven’t purchased any products in years.

    Hello Ibyl, I've decided to take the Sisterlock training class to become a consultant. Instead of spending $1000 (at least) on Sisterlocks I've decided to take the training and spend all that money towards the training and then get my Sissterlocks installed afterwards. Anyway, I've looked into it and my question is, they have something called Stimulus packages that are a little cheaper. What do they mean by that? Is it discounted to motivate folks to take the training?

    • @ibyl
      @ibyl  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey Yaya! I know people take the training class to be ale to loc others hair, but I'm sure it can be taken to maintain your own locs. I took just the retightening class years ago which is vey basic and I learned how to retighten sections in the front, but I practiced on my own head during the class. Stimulus package offers the training at a discounted price. I'm guessing the price is reduced to encourage more to take the class. I'm not sure if there is a difference in what is offered.

      Thank you Ibyl, I had already decided to take the training class after I had my locks installed but since I already have the money for the locs I decided to plant these money seeds and grow a bigger tree. There is a Stimulus Training coming up in July in my home town in July which will allow me to also visit my family and have a place to stay. Later after the class I can get my locks installed and be better informed about selecting a Consultant and maintaining my own hair. I don't think I want to install my own locks though. Anyway, I've shifted gears and it feels right. I'm an artist most of my life and I've always worked with my hands so I think I'm well suited for becoming a successful consultant.

      Yes, the Stimulus training is $250 less than the regular class which is great! I won't have to pay for hotel because I have family and friends there. The class is August 5th through the 8th. Anyway, I think this is the best idea I've had for a long time. I'm excited!

      +Jess I dyed it about 3 years ago. The auburn color is growing out now so my natural black color is noticeable.

    Great video. I have a few questions please. Do your retightenings hurt? Did your install hurt. I am considering sisterlocks. I have read one should not be in pain after retightening sessions. I also saw a sisterlocks consultant use a crochet hook to do a retightening and the client was in pain the entire time. Is that the way it will be? If so maybe I should remain a loose natural. Thank you for your input.

    • @ibyl
      @ibyl  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Retightenings should not hurt. There are a few factors that could cause tension. Not separating locs after a wash, if you’re tender headed you may have sensitive spots, if your loctician is working too quickly and snagging a single strand or two. All of that can be alleviated by talking about any discomfort with loctician or going to someone who works well with you. My install did not hurt. There’s a Sisterlocks tool that should be used.
