The three of them were horrendous to both Mystique and Nicole Paige Brooks (FROM ATLANTA, GEORGIA!!) and, consistently, Tatianna bit back when the girls came for them. Tatianna did have some nasty things to say, but they were never about girls who didn't deserve it -- Morgan for saying she "pitied" Mystique and making fatphobic comments about her, Raven for being awful to Nicole and leading her to believe she'd made a friend in Raven only to talk shit about her any time she was brought up in the two episodes she was in, and Sonique for similar things to Morgan as well as telling Tatianna that her drag was "tired." Tatianna's deal with Jujubee is her deal with Jujubee, but beyond that Tatianna was consistently open about how she felt and was arguably the least two-faced member of the cast, along with Jessica Wild and Jujubee.

I have loved Tatiana ever since she performed in Spoken Word "All the Same Parts". It was creative and ingenious. And I can see that she's just gotten more beautiful over these past several years. I've always wondered how hard a time the contestants had that were as smart as or smarter than RuPaul. I got the distinct impression that if you were super smart he wasn't going to like you very much. As in his face-down with Pearl..(forever my favorite episode EVER!!). I've heard many other Queens share their experiences with RuPaul. I read so much really bad s*** about him that I almost don't like him but I love what he does and I love the show Drag Race so am I still a fan?? Hell yes?
ru is a vindictive narcissist posing as a loving guru. the girls who see that and call it out get iced by WOW, including courtney, carmen, even willam (who has done some very gross things and i do not like her, but she was maybe the first person to tell people about the kind of person ru really is). it's so sad because i grew up idolizing ru and watching her old 90s content all the time, and this show was a lifeline for me in middle school, so finding out the kind of person ru really is was depressing. thank god the show gives us an opportunity to meet new drag artists all the time who are genuine people. if you create a persona you will always be found out, and that's exactly what's happened with ru over the years
I was another of the participants in the Season 1 Fan Vote. It was interesting because at that point, there was very little known about the show aside from it being a drag-related reality TV competition hosted by RuPaul, but you can damn well bet every drag queen working back then (oh, about 60 of us nationwide - ha!) found their ways to that website. I have to admit, I was impressed with how much each one of the girls on that list hobnobbed and slob-knobbed with the others, offering to exchange votes for each other. One interesting aspect of the show's original concept - and this has been discussed in _some_ interviews - is that each contestant was to bring an assistant to the show with them. There's been some confusion over whether this meant they would compete as a _team,_ but as I understood it, each queen's assistant was available to help with the facets some queens might not be _as strong_ with i.e. sewing/design, hair, etc. I have something of a theory as to how this came about and how it was done away with: Having read the _And Don't F&%k It Up! An Oral History of RuPaul's Drag Race (The First Ten Years),_ it's revealed that RuPaul had been approached many times about the idea of a Reality TV-based drag competition, but for years her primary reason for having repeatedly turned it down was because she didn't like the inherent negativity that came with the genre (a far cry from how the show's producers have been accused of stirring the pot to create drama and tension). Some have suggested this may be why RuPaul has such a steely exterior on the show. Those first few years, Ru really struggled with having to crush the girls' spirits with eliminations. But in relation to the queens having assistants on the show with them, I think that may have been a stipulation Ru initially insisted upon. Very, very few queens do _everything_ for themselves and the fact alone that RuPaul _herself_ doesn't do _any_ of the things they expect a winner to be entirely proficient with may have been the justification for the "assistants" concept. As some queens from the -first seas-- - oops. As some queens from the _Lost Season,_ have shared, the contestants learned that "assistant" concept was axed _the night before they were due to depart for Los Angeles and film the show._ Nothing like a curve ball, huh? I'm sure their assistants were heartbroken. But why _would_ they axe it? Contrary to the narrative most media outlets tell today, there _was_ indeed a large network of drag artists in every one of the 50 states and its territories. Aiming to find the queens that _can_ do everything would be the only way to whittle down the many queens vying for a slot on the show. At the very least, I think that's one of the few possible reasons they managed to convince RuPaul. To bring everything full circle, yes: Nina Flowers managed to net enough votes to win her the Fan Vote slot in the cast the first season, followed by Jessica Wild the second. One of the most interesting bits of Fan Vote trivia is that while it was announced that Penny Tration won the slot for Season 5, the _actual_ winner that year was a young queen that would become one of the show's most beloved personalities: Adore Delano. Until recently, it was something of a mystery as to why Adore wasn't cast for Season 5. Was she too young? Was she too wild? Too well-known from her stint on _American Idol_ or contractually bound not to compete for a specified number of years on another TV competition? Only recently after years of speculation, Adore confessed that her not having been a part of the Season 5 cast was because she was simply not ready. The show back then was a cake walk compared to the insane amount of work the show requires today, but as my own drag mother, may she rest in peace, once described drag as a money-eating monster. And seventeen seasons in, we now have some contestants claiming to have spent upwards of $100,000 on what they bring to the show, that won't be changing anytime soon. Those of us who had campaigned for that he fan vote were pleasantly surprised when we received a postcard in the mail weeks later. It was signed by RuPaul and thanked each of us for our interest in the new venture. It's the sort of thing one might have framed and displayed proudly.... If not for the fact that each postcard was addressed _not_ to our stage names, but our _legal_ names.

Ok I don't understand what several commenters mean by "how much hate" Tatianna got. Are we talking from the fandom/viewers? Because I remember when S2 was airing and Tati was NOT hated by the fandom (at large anyway). Most people were on her side in all her conflicts with others. Again I remember S2 and Raven was hands down THE most hated queen of the season, even more hated than Tyra at the time (Granted some of that was a"well she's our winner, we can't talk too much smack on her" mentality.) It wasn't until a couple years later that Tyra's popularity (such as it was, she was never a fan favorite to begin with) took a major nose dive and Raven's got a resurgence.
