- God is Eternal Bliss. His being is love, wisdom, and joy. He is both impersonal and personal, and manifests Himself in whatever way He pleases. He appears before His saints in the form each of them holds dear: a Christian sees Christ, a Hindu beholds Krishna or the Divine Mother, and so on. Devotees whose worship takes an impersonal turn become conscious of the Lord as an infinite Light or as the wondrous sound of Aum, the primal Word, the Holy Ghost. The highest experience man can have is to feel that Bliss in which every other aspect of Divinity - love, wisdom, immortality - is fully contained.

First you must have a right concept of God - a definite idea through which you can form a relationship with Him - and then you must meditate and pray until that mental conception becomes changed into actual perception. Then you will know Him. If you persist, the Lord will come.
Cultivate His acquaintance. It is possible to know God just as well as you know your dearest friend. That is the truth.

@DubS3332 way back in the days, Yogananda organized an African American group in D.C. when he found they were not admitted to the auditorium where he was speaking. I understand he was always appalled at that. He encountered much racist bigotry himself, especially in Florida where they really tried to railroad him (imagine that 😅). This is in the 30s, I believe. Yes, it seems that not many African Americans are represented, but don't let that put you off, Yogananda teaches against all that racist bigotry, and the meditation techniques are universal and profound. I feel we, African Americans, need it more than others even, to heal our generational ptsd & current situations. Take his lessons, man, they will be transformative. 🙏🏽

Six months ago I stumbled upon Ashas videos here on TH-cam she’s a disciple of Yogananda then I picked up autobiography then I picked up the two volume set 1700 pages - the second coming of Christ - where Yogananda comments on the New Testament the teachings of Jesus. It’s absolutely amazing you might want to consider buying that.

Well one thing I know is for certain. Religions are a beautiful gift, at least the majority of them are. But you don't need a religion to approach God. You yourself are enough if you find yourself in need of God, but you are not affiliated with a religion. However, having a religion that is a good fit for you is of much value.
This os different. I was just slamming my head at 4 at night...intrusive thoughts.. I am human though. The hour before I was nightmare and then praying.

What takes years of training and practice can be done much more simply, and quickly via A Course in Miracles. It teaches how to accept and utilize the “Vision of the Holy Spirit.” You cannot but join with God when this happens. Recall the joyful vision of Scrooge at the end of the book.
Has anyone besides Yogananda, from the SRF in the US, ever achieved self realization and enlightenment?
Only two that I'm aware of Ragasi and Durga Ma... there may be more...I'm only few years in, so my knowledge may be incomplete ❤
I have studied SRF teachings for many years now. Not only theory but also practicing yoga/meditation every day. I also teach Yoga. I don’t know if I have reached Self Realization, the only thing I know is that life becomes more joyful every day. Bliss expands. For me these are the signs that I am on the right path. I don’t want to give this state a name. It just is!! Namasté❤
I would say many. Janakananda is one, Daya Ma is another, Gyanamata... many of his direct disciples, I would say. And then, there are undoubtedly many, many out here who are students of his lessons, kriyabans etc, who have achieved some level of Self realization. The thing about it... those who truly attain that level of consciousness, are apt to be very humble about it too. It's not like they're all going to become gurus and whatnot lol. Many very realized people, you wouldn't necessarily know by outward means. Nirbikalpa samadhi... that's a very high, not easily achieved state as I understand it. But attainable in this life according to Sri Yoganandaji...

Very very few people can only attain enlightenment. I dont think anybody living now on earth attained enlightenment.
