@@Tetus7 that's probably true. It's strange though because in the years following OK computer, he's seemed, if anything, more confident in his falsetto. So I wonder if he could have done it (in, say, the early 2000s.)
@@GoSolar He could sing those notes in falsetto today, but in this song he sings them in modal voice which is much more powerful than falsetto. He could perform it live and sing the high notes in falsetto but it would sound silly.
Probably one of the most vocally demanding songs by Radiohead... That non-falsetto high B at 3:32 is pretty challenging, I doubt Thom can still do that.
+Guilherme Eddino There is absolutely no way Thom can do that anymore. He hasn't been in good vocal shape in a while. There's a reason why he sticks to his falsetto way more now. Still a good singer, but the last time he belted out really good was probably during HTTT, and even then.
Thank you a million times over for posting this. I would donate a kidney to see them play this live. I guess they haven't since like 1995. Such a rare moment, I'm glad there's at least one video of it. It's not like now where everyone has a cell phone. Thanks to everything holey this exists.
This is absolutely amazing. But also had the thought watching Thom flail his arms in that schoolboy outfit that he must have been such a damn cute little kid lol
man i wish they'd return to this kind of stuff - The Bends was so listenable - not saying the stuff they've done in the last decade and a half is necessarily bad, i just can't sit back and listen to it and really enjoy it the way i've done with The Bends a thousand times

Mark Silverman It was also originally "Just shoot your guns, you'll never change." - but they hated that they were sometimes compared to Nirvana, and after Kurt committed suicide, he wanted nothing of anyone thinking it was a tribute.
this song is actually about a mass shooting that killed 17 people in a small town in england they changed "just shoot your gun" to "just like your dad" so people wouldnt think its about kurt cobain
Wow. Occurs to me I don’t know I’ve ever heard this one live, even around The Bends tour. Not super sure I’m right on that, as I’ve yet to check about a lot of the 96 ish shows. Anyone? Did Thom choose to “sulk” live very often (sorry, had to go there)
Does anyone know where this is from? I don't think it's Rockwave festival since that started in 96', however I wasn't around back then so I could be wrong.
Back when you could feel the intensity in music. Yorke could deliver that so easily. Meaningful art (music, cinema,...) -, where is it now? Sterilized by the PC culture that strips every false note, every lost step, everything unpure; it is killing art and culture as a whole.
0:09 that's adorable, the guitarists moving in unison
wat are ya talkin about! you nerd!
The only ed n jonny moment we have💀
His old voice was beautiful, more aggressive, and that growl in his singing is amazing
After OK Computer the band lost its way so bad I can't even tell if he can sing this anymore. I doubt it though.
@@RMT192 fuck off
Kid A - Amnesiac is their best album dude
Jacked Johnson Have you not listened to anything after OK computer? They have so many other great albums afterwards

that B at 3:32 blows my mind in the studio version. and is blowing my mind 50x more live.
totally underrated song. one of my absolute favorites. wish they would play it again live.
No way he could still sing that high B or probably even the A.

best track on the album
I just adore his air drumming in this one
Ridiculously good, imagine seeing these guys live back in 95!
Thom Yorke's vocal quality is one of the best in the rock world.
thom yorke stimming for almost 4 minutes
WHAT BAHAHA
Real
He’s kind of real for that ngl
That’s why I love this video I do this when I sing sometimes too
i'm crying rn. his voice it's completely beautiful 😭😭😭😭
I'm really grateful that this exists...Also, Thom's best haircut
💯, on both accounts
One of highest notes hit by Thom alongside of "You"
Channeling his early Lotus Flower dance moves here.
that key change at the end is fucking stellar, by far one of the best voices in rock.
Probably one of the most vocally demanding songs by Radiohead... That non-falsetto high B at 3:32 is pretty challenging, I doubt Thom can still do that.
B? Fuck me.
+Guilherme Eddino I can hit that B when it comes on in the car, I'm sure of it. Well, maybe not...

Is he singing falsetto for example When he sing (burn at 3:27 ) and ( Dad at 3:42)
No, falsetto is what like Nude or Reckoner sounds like.
Stunning vocals. I miss the raw power that Thom used to have.
he still has it but it has transformed
@@BlankRami Flattering but unfortunately he cannot do this anymore.
@@robmaddison8645exactly, he can’t do this anymore but he can do different equally impressive things. Thom will ALWAYS be the goat tbh
I think my favorite version of Radiohead was The Bends. I love everything they do, but the passion from this album is unmatched.

this was only played live 7 times i think, within a period of 1 month in 1995. this video is the definition of a gem.
do you think it was because it was so taxing to sing or because they thought it was 'middle of the road' (for Radiohead anyhow).
@@robmaddison8645 Mix of both. Ironically, the company apparently told them that this would be the big hit
ok the high B is good but is anyone not gonna admit how beautiful the bass is in this song ?
A young Thom Yorke singing my favorite Radiohead song live...❤️
Those times were gold.
Dude, this is precious. Been searching for years. 'Sulk' live. Rarer than rare. Thanks for posting.

Sometimes you burn....
What a song! This version is spectacular!!!

Amen
WE wish..
The Bends is so underrated. They evolved their music but that doesn't necessarily mean this stuff was bad. Doesn't get the recognition it deserves
They wanted to be more creative, AND they did. After OK Computer, Radiohead became timeless, and a legend itself.
In rainbows tho
this is a rare gem!

@@BlankRami hey there! I also do Radiohead covers th-cam.com/video/_uEKraQyLyQ/w-d-xo.html

both lyrics are great in their own way
pretty sure the reason they stopped playing it is because it shredded thom's throat into mush
They still do play Fake Plastic Trees, Bends, Telex, and Street Spirit. Maybe the song is a bit tough for Thom to sing properly.
Thanks for posting, rare piece.
love this even more now than i did in 95'
SO FREAKING GOOD

3:23 not suprised he got a voice crack there, that note is DIFFICULT.
This song needs to make a return someday, although I don't know if he can pull off the chorus anymore

seriously. I love this song. I think it's one of the best off The Bends. I wonder if they disagree, and that's why they don't play it...
as far as i can tell they don't play it cuz thom yorke can't hit that high note toward the end
