WeatherTech window shades for Toyota Tacoma - (Spoiler!) DON'T BUY!

- You've probably found this while searching the side window shades that WeatherTech makes. Here's a spoiler...don't buy them!
The cut and fit are horrible. After Customer Service via email, seemed as if they didn't care and would be happy to swap it out...for the same exact item that would NOT FIT also.
In my opinion, it's just a poorly designed and manufactured product. I understand there's lots of cars and models out there...but if you're going to make a custom fit product and charge nearly $200 for a piece of coated foam, it should fit perfectly.
I was originally apprehensive about making this video because it's on the negative side of reviews...but I figured it could help someone trying to make a decision based on my "take it or leave it" response from Customer Service.

Not everyone has shit mounted on their windshield, that's just a work around you're gonna have to do, I'm still looking to get some for my truck
Yup. I just use the sides only. It’d be nice if WeatherTech sold only those separately.
As expensive as they are, you’d think they’d be a perfect fit. Thanks for the honest review!
I wish they fit just a bit better! Thanks for checking out the video
Honestly this is the only video I have seen that wasnt thrilled with them. You must understand that all companies have your odd miscues, its just life but I think the overall reviews would say to buy them.
Just got them and they work on my 2017 Taco Bell
I agree, I don't imagine the windshield part working the other side well because the mirror+sensor console often is not dead centered at the factory level.
Yes. And the gap lets way too much light through compared to other shades.
The kinds of people that buy these are meticulous, very true. Especially for $200 bucks.
Thanks for the honest review. For the price you pay you’d think they would be a better fit
I would just leave them on all day because window tint is illegal when I got certain places in Mexico
I actually just received mine and it doesn't fit on my windshield either, it's too long and isn't cut out properly around the mirror...Thought Weathertech was supposed to be good? I've had Chinese ones that fit better.
Disappointing
You’re supposed to put your sunshades down to hold it up
And what’s wrong with the back ones, they cover up the whole window lol
@@RedlineMaximaSE watch the video again. There’s an inch of extra material that just flaps on the door. For $200, we’d expect near-perfect cuts and engineering since we know the material consisting of laminated foam is very inexpensive to produce. We’re paying for the research, design and engineering for a perfect fit.
The problem is the giant gap around the mirror. I just don’t use the front at all.
It’s looks better than putting towels to keep the heat and cold out and more convenient, it gets old folding towels when I take them down in the back of the car, has anyone found a better option yet ? Let me know I want to get something else soon
I previously had a prius and bought weathertech and they worked perfectly. Then I bought a brand new 4runner and the weathertech shades I bought are horrible. I open the door and they fall out. The silver side separated and it has made the whole cover less firm. The front windshield one doesn't fit properly at all. The left side is clearly too big. I got mine for stealth car camping
Yes! The front is pretty much useless to me also
3:58 I had same problem with my Elantra version by weathertech. So its obvious that they are complete idiots when making the front windshield sunshades which is the MOST important one of all the windows. So there china factory or Vietnam factory or just there design pattern data that is used in the computer is all completely wrong. Because like i said, this was a complete waste of my money. Now that being said, the rest of the windows fit, EXEPT the back window. So do you see the pattern here? Weathertech are IDIOTS when it comes the the FRONT and BACK windshields . And since i just got mine yesterday in September of 2023. You can see that Weathertech can careless that there selling a factory defective product to its customers. Also that being said, i bougut there floor liners , and there perfect. So i would recommend Wearhertech floor liners, but i would NOT recommend there SunShades, because there complete piece of 💩 Literally i wasted like $130 for the full SunShade set. ✌️
PS: And these Sunshades not fitting is completely UNACCEPTABLE, in the year 2023 with state of the art computers, they should fit perfectly. But like i said, weathertech completely are lazy and dont care to get there sunshades to fit perfectly. I guarantee you there not even measuring the windshields correctly. There probably getting the measurements from old factory data, or even from window tint businesses data , but there not measuring the windows by hand to make sure they getting proper dimensions. All they have to do is not even do that. A 3rd grader can just get huge sheets of poster or note paper and put on window rhen trace the window pattern onto huge paper . And easy done. But its obvious there not even doing this. And like i said, in a billion years i never thought these sunshades would be messed up. Becauze nobody messes up car sunshades. It's impossible to mess them up. But weathertech figured a way to be the first to mess up sunshades. Unbelievable 😡
Agreed!
WeatherTech customer service is also not very friendly 😢
You seem to just push it into the window ? Does it stick ? it would be nice to not have to get out the sun visors every single time..
Also does it jam into and over the side posts please ? Looks like it but I'd like to confirm because I'd like to use it to protect the plastic trim of the posts, it's getting sticky...
It fits right in between the plastic/rubber seals where it meets the glass. It doesn’t cover the seals. But yes…you just simply push it into the window and its stiff enough to stay. Honestly, the front does not fit well. The sides fit decently and lowers the interior by 15-20 degrees on a hot day.
@@AdventureStop thanks ! that's very nice ! but you recommend the HeatShield for a better fit ? Can you do a review on that one ?
Did you get a refund ? Or you kept it ? It works to block out light good enough 👍🏼 I’m going to buy let’s see how it works out for me
I kept them and only use the side window covers. Seems pretty pricey for laminated foam, but I don’t think it’ll replace them once they wear out & begin to disintegrate.
It’s looks better than putting towels to keep the heat and cold out and more convenient
thanks for the review, but i think as long as its doing its main job which is keeping sun out and the interior kool is the purpose but if you want perfect and quality get a benz or bmw !
I actually bought the HeatShield brand for my Bmw which cost nearly half of the WeatherTech, and they fit very well. I definitely recommend giving the HeatShield a good look at. Thanks for watching.
Imagine saying get a Benz or BMW and the word “quality” in the same sentence.😂
I think your being a little too over the top about it dude, that seems like a pretty good fit for me man. Calm down it still works extremely well 😂
The sides are alright. The front is sorta useless, so I hardly use it. I bought the HeatShield brand for my other car, which costs significantly less, and fits much better. Thanks for watching.
If it doesn’t fit right, call customer service. Ask if they could look at some pictures you could take for them to review and if they’ll help you.
So disappointing!
Very!
Garbage product....not difficult to make correctly at the weathertech factory if they had the intelligence to do so. Disappointing
Exactly. And lacking solutions from customer service.
