Good video. I’m glad you are checking out Flatcat Gear’s options. They also have a small ring that makes a Jetboil Flash less exposed to wind. I have a Sterno Inferno system that was made for the Fire Maple stove, and used it on a long hike. The hard part about this system now is finding the Sterno Inferno itself-it was discontinued a couple of years ago. FG makes stoves to fit other, more available, HX pots, but unfortunately they are not as small and light as the Inferno.

This is actually a genius “retrofit” for this ultralight jetboil type system

Yep that is so smart, what a setup. They were thinking outside the box with this one. It's to bad that the Sterno Inferno Stove Kit is no longer in production, but it would be good for the people that already have that system.

Thank you for sharing that product I own one that particular item and it was demonstrated by a British reviewer who mailed me one. Now I have a way to use my pocket rockets for that pot systems. Will purchase it soon. Still my go to guy for reviews. I’m gonna be repainting my Coleman two burner stove with high heat rustolium spray and of course will use your videos on disassemble and reassemble. Like I said your good at what you do and thank you again

Great video, I was already to order this as I have a pocket rocket deluxe. But the only problem is you can’t find a Sterno inferno cook set anymore… it is not available and per Flat Cat Gear it’s discontinued. They also make one for the Widesea Hx pot. It’s a little heavier and not a good lid option… would love to see a video on that option and what you can come up with for a lid other than a yogurt lid…. Keep making great videos I like your comparisons.

Love watching you spend money to boil water faster and lighter. Have fun stay safe.

The windshield looks more use protecting the handles from the heat if the stove. Altogether nice setup.

What a great product. Great way to modify a cook system. I don’t think cost is a factor. If you have a Pocket Rocket and were looking at Jetboil or the Windburner you’d have to pay much more than a simple retrofit.

I got the FCG ocelot windscreen for the BRS, the bigger one, not the mini, for my 900ml tall pot. Works great, not cheap, but can help u extend ur fuel supply efficiency, with slower boil times, and less jet noise too 👍

There's a device that makes limitless potable water from 1 dodo bird beak. Lots of luck finding a dodo bird for beak harvesting.
Great video. How do I get a Sterno Inferno to try it out? They discontinued the dang thing. 😡

Why can’t I find the video you made about the inferno?

Since the Inferno is no longer available I would be more interested in tests with the Olicamp or Fire Maple HX pots and the Flatcat plates. A number of people seem to be testing efficiency of the pots with odd testing criteria. The numbers look alot better if you boil 4 cups of water etc. I believe they also have models for the soto windmaster and other stoves. I'm with you $35 is nothing when you are talking about ultralight gear.

@@skylerphoenix8880 I believe that the Sterno Inferno Pot is no longer being made. Do you know where you can still get one?

I have fire maple 1l pot with fire maple 300t and hx adapter plate. I got basically same test results boil time and fuel consumption wise. Around 5-6g/0,5l of water. I use this setup in winter down to 0f/-18-20C when I have to melt snow for 1person. Using gas can in water trick. Result: melts snow much faster and for much less fuel than my white gas stove (primus omnilite ti). I don’t remember the number of the top of my head.
Fm 300t + adapter plate weight was 53g if I remember correctly. My white gas stove was…well, more than that😂

Yes, but isn't the Sterno Inferno discontinued? It definitely looks like an interesting upgrade but seems like a rather limited product.

    • @Funkteon
      @Funkteon ปีที่แล้ว

Correct, they are discontinued, but you can occasionally find a WAAAYYY overpriced one kicking about on various websites from time to time. They were absolutely terrible due to the poorly thought-out design of having plastic feet that melted as soon as the flame caught some wind and blew over them. It was also impossible to safely grab the tiny handles due to the way the wind would blow the flame out of the space at the top rim of the windshield... They were also only 400ml, making it difficult to do anything except boil water in them, which can be done with much cheaper and more reliable (and safer) options from GSI etc...

You are not paying the $35 for that piece of stamped (or more likely laser cut) piece of stainless. You are mainly paying for all the thought that went into it to make it a good product.

Could you review the Pill Bottle Stove th-cam.com/video/ARwKxQ30oOI/w-d-xo.html
I've been interested in how good it is, what kinda of stand/windscreen to use, and what difference using a pot with a heat exchanger has while using it.
It's a small porous pizza stone soaked in alcohol
