Fun Dissidia fact! Apparently the entire series owes its existence to the Advent Children movie, as the game's creators wanted a game that looked and felt like the Cloud vs Sephiroth fight scene (which is also why the launch and aerial back-and-forth attacking mechanic exists)
@@ravenheart2752 its actually the opposite. SQEX wanted a KH fighting game but Disney said no coz they dont want their characters bashing each others skulls. So SQEX decided to use FF.
I highly agree the Dissidia PSP is way ahead of its time. If they just remastered this game or not even improve anything. It still going to be an amazing game on consoles
Just imagine Duodecim With Nt level graphics Add some more characters, go further bonkers on the DLC Yeet that onto ps4/ps5. Slap a 40 buck tag on it Bam MONEY.
@@TheMastermind729 the messed up part is.. Lets be honest here.. If all they did was bundle in the dlc outfits and re-release alot of us would be happy. Dissidia Duodecim as it looks on PS Vita would look just as good on the Switch.
I spent over 600 hours in the original and 012 combined. I can truly say with confidence that Dissidia is my favorite game of all time and I still play it from time to time on my vita
Dissidia made me the FF fan i am today. Before, all my knowledge was just on FF7, and i havent even played that game at the time. When i got the first dissidia on the PSP, i was enamoured by all the characters i have never seen or heard of before. It got me to actually start playing final fantasy. My love for dissidia still continues to this day as i am 3 years going strong playing DFFOO.
Same, I never played FF7 at the time but I had played Dirge of Cerberus (lol) and had seen the Advent children movie. I HAD to try this out as a fighting game fan and now I'm a fan of the franchise!
same! i was a normie bc i only ever really played crisis core,, its the only game i could play with my psp (couldn't afford consoles and a TV) then i discovered dissidia and duodecim, now that im older and have money, i wanna play every ff game from the start lmao they recently remastered crisis core and is gonna release a bundle of the old ff games on the switch,, i really hope this means dissidia is getting a remaster too
Same here for me, except my first game exposure was funnily enough FFX-2 and Dirge of Cerberus, both sequels 😂 But yeah, it made me the big FF fan I am today and the first FF game I completed was FFI, favorite of all time being FFVI and just got back into DFFOO!
Duodecim was god tier, but then NT tried to force me to play online and do boring monotonous offline single matches by hiding the story mode behind that points system. Felt way more clunky too. Which is why I’m buying a ps vita again, just for Duodecim 👌🏻
Mak thoughts exactly, I went into NT with the thought of customizing Cloud and Squall to my liking, I thought I would be able to do my usual go to of Climhazard>Slashing Blow>Omnislash V.5, but no, they killed all of that.
@slevinsanchez2276 but also who asked for 3v3? I have over 280 hours in duodecim but I tried NT and it was just annoying gamgbangin on one dude or getting 3 manned like what? The wall splat thing was good and allowed characters with difficult moves or slower moves to combo and the summons ability itself was cool (not having to stand still to summon) but other than that I dont have much to say good other than i guess the music and graphics looked better but everything else duodecim had it beat
When I was 10 and started playing dissidia 012 the story terrified me greatly. The feeling of emptiness of the overworld, the dissaturated colours and music, things that are there but there's nothing at the same time, it's like there's still a mystery we don't know about and we never will. I remember as you progress through story when you go to the first menu you hear sounds from different characters pleeding for help and it will never come up again. That was realy scary. No fighting game comes even close to what this game achieved. I'm still playing it every week.
Dissidia is an awesome series that many people can't get into because the best one in on the the psp, i wish they would somehow port it to newer consoles. Hopefully you can bring more attention to these games. Anyways, awesome video!
I remember being really disappointed when finding out that Dissidia NT would carry over almost none of the features from the previous entries. I mean, I understand why, but it meant I never got to show my friends why I thought the first two games were so fun.
@@starstreamheartlocke652 yeah, the classic final fantasy elements with the character customisation and RPG stuff combined with the unique gameplay were what made dissidia stand out That is why i think the increased competitive focus kinda hurt the game in the end as you've said
I miss playing duodecim that it made me download nt on my ps4 yesterday. It's not really that bad of a game but i can see why it died fast. The psp game is just more fun to play especially jecht who has the highest skill ceiling type of play.
@@kellinquinn013 yeah, the game is not bad, in actuality it's very good, but it depended a lot on a big online community, which it failed to gather, that, combined with the lack of single player content due to the focus on the competitive side of things made so, that the game died pretty fast, like you said. However i did apreciate the care which the devs had for this game as they updated it for quite a lot of time after it released.
Fun fact: These games are canon with both FF1 and Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin. The third DLC of the latter game even has manakins as an enemy type.
Since you mentioned you love yourself some Kingdom Hearts, a "I played every Kingdom Hearts game" is a must do now. Although I'd suggest saving it for a milestone of Subscribers or a special video for an anniversary maybe? Since there's so many Kingdom Hearts and it would take a lot of time for that video to be made. But anyways, keep up the good work! You put out amazing content, dude!
I remember the og dissidia. I specifically remember finding parts to make a "Counter One Shot" build, where when you countered, your next attack would have a 100% crit chance, and then I'd add other things to increase their bravery attacks damage, and crit damage. I'd pick cloud, wait for an attack, Counter it, get a gauranteed multi-hit thrust attack, deplete their entire bravery (No matter the size, this would remove the bravery off of any number because the damage it dealt was unbelievable thanks to the multi-hit.) and then combo a guaranteed hp attack afterwards, or if they escaped spam one of cloud's ranged hp attacks. I did this throughout the hardest parts of the solo missions, and it helped a lot with clearing the end-game content quickly.
I remember being so salty about the Chaos troll that a few years later on an emulator with save state scumming i did actually beat it It is beatable, it's just every HP move he does is a one-shot and you can never bravery break him, the best strategy is to just learn how to counter his moves with dodging and positioning, and spam HP attacks. If anyone's interested in what you get for beating him- well: Nothing. You get nothing. It goes "oh crap i guess you really are this good haha" and then it just moves on
Fun fact: I played the ROM on emulator and tried some cheat codes for fun. The codes work just fine, except for the final boss, when you go battling against Chaos (also applied to Ferral Chaos). Yeah, that's right, you can't cheat against Chaos.
I remember beating him exploiting one of Yuna's attacks (the summon that shots a horizontal mid range ray). Wasn't enough to take him down but made his HP low enough for the rest of the team to finish the job.
I was legitimately upset when I saw that the best skins in Dissidia NT were locked by a FOURTEEN DOLLAR PAY WALL on a game I payed FULL PRICE for at launch. Kinda sad how the game flopped.
don't know if it's standard price... but in my country, the third costumes (like Cloud and Squall KH costume, or Noctis from Versus XIII trailers) are more expensive than one character ^^'
Dissidia NT was such a disappointment. It's a shame that there likely won't just be an HD remake of Dissidia 012, since that but with the new FF entry characters would have been perfect. I would have loved to fight the FF1 WoL as Zenos in a remake of Dissidia 012. Instead it feels like the bulk of the development went into the graphics and they chose to strip down the game for parts and sell them separate. There is *$863.64* of DLC for the game on steam currently.
@@dominiquesmith6745 It doesn't really matter. That's how much they're piecemealing the shitty "full game" for and is still scummy. At this point I'm convinced that the only teams in all of Square with their heads on right are Yoshi-P's, Yoko Taro's, and Nomura's.
I'm going to keep saying this until I'm blue in the face and then some. The PSP games, particularly 012, are MASTERPIECES. I would comfortably place them in a list of the greatest games of all time. The concept is genius, the gameplay is unique and fun, and even if you're not a Final Fantasy fan you can learn some about and grow to love the characters. The visuals, the RPG elements... music... and don't forget that slow-mo and "The final blow!" at the end of a match. I always found that particular aspect so captivating and to this day it never gets old. For any Dissidia fans or FF fans here I absolutely recommend DFFOO. It can be slightly overwhelming at first but the community is super helpful and once you get into the groove you'll find it to be a very, very rewarding and generous game.
I don't think any other game has the amount of fan service packed into it as Dissidia does. I poured hundreds of hours into the original dissidia and i don't regret one minute of it.
It should be mentioned in Opera Omnia that, while there IS a grind, the devs do like to help make it less stressful with various mechanics: Characters having x2 EXP gain during events No stamina system outside of WOI (and the potions that refill that stamina are plentiful) Very frequent x2 Crystal events Chocobo Feathers to speed up leveling Auto system which, if combined with a powerful AOE unit like Yuna, makes grinding not only much faster but also semi-AFKable, so you can grind easily while doing something else Frequent Ultimate Summons support events (the biggest grind so definitely one needs it) As far as equipment goes, every new character at this point gets a free 15cp weapon, and 35cps have good pull rates and can be bought using Power Tokens. EX and LD weapons are what you'll mainly be pulling for - EX weapons can be bought for EX tokens via the Daily Hunts, LD weapons are a bit more unforgiving. The pity system is far more generous than most Gacha games in my experience, so if there's a favourite character you REALLY wanna pull for, you can save your gems and guarantee you'll get them. You also only need 1 copy of each weapon type - while you do need to Limit Break each weapon to unlock the passive ability, you can do this with either dupe copies OR Power Stones, which can be obtained through a variety of ways, including selling 5-star weapons - meaning that pulling weapons you've already maxed actually gives you something, and aren't just trash. If you don't mind not being able to take on the highest level content right off the bat, getting a few EX weapons and upgrading them to EX+ (the materials for which are earned, not pulled for), you can comfortably do up to Cosmos difficulty and perhaps even take on some of the Chaos battles. If you're only in it for the story, you don't need to worry about your pulls at all. One final thing to note is there's NO PVP aspect, which might be a turn-off for some but it also means your rewards aren't limited if you don't have the best gear. Everyone is in it together in Opera Omnia, so it doesn't just cater to the top tier of players or the players with the deepest pockets.
@@pumpkintank8156 Burst weapons aren't really worth going after unless it's for a fave. Well, I guess with the new BT+ they'll soon start to become more necessary, but for now I'd say they're only strictly necessary for Lufenia+ which isn't something a new player will be worrying about for some time. They're also only for a select few characters, whereas EX and LD exist for everyone.
@@Someguyhere111 Also the Japanese version added a new weapon type called Force or FR, which add a Force Ability which is used when the Force Gauge is filled. After you use it depending on how much max the weapon is you can get upon 10 turns of buffed HP Damage.
012 is arguably a masterpiece, fun and repayable gameplay, an actually good story for every character considering that it's just supposed to be a crossover between Final Fantasy games. The remixes are a mixed bag, some are the best things ever, others suck, you can get the original music as well, even without DLC most of the alt costumes you would want are also available here. There's tons of extra modes for combat, my favourites are the tournament and labyrinth mode, you can create your own stories and battles for them, it's just great. I could go on forever, 012 is just brimming with content, everyone should play it.
A little footnote to your DFFOO review: Crystal farming is really only a barrier at the very start. Once you start getting better, you'll end up with more crystals than you need, and the game switches to difficult, but rewarding boss battles. Great video nonetheless !
@@Niosai Yeah that was a feature removed like two years ago. Now you can farm any, and it usually has a double crystal event which stacks with books. Although the highest tier crystals are gated behind events but I'm at the point where I have way too many than I can use.
Also, if the player can keep up with the grindyness, it gets to a point where they can consistently get most of the gacha stuff and only really worry about how to approach new challenges.
Yeah I agree. I used to complain about not having enough resources when I just started playing because I thought that this is just one of those gacha games where you can rush everything. It needs a lot patience but once you start maximizing some characters, you start to feel satisfaction. Don't give up if ever you started playing, this game needs a lot of your time. Have fun :)
Another thing I'd like to add: You can get event characters before their Lost Chapter, as long as you have 10 Power Tokens, because if you get ANY of their weapons (but not their armor, for some reason), the game will give you the character.
What I love about Opera Omnia is that it gives obscure or not so popular characters a time to shine, such as Kurasame and Jack from Type-0, Sherlotta from FFCC, Cid Raines from FF13, Aphmau and Iroha from FF11 just to name a few. Overall it's my favorite mobile game.
Dissidia was one of my favorite games. Duodecim was great in the fact they brought in my fave FF character, but they nerfed Ex Mode almost out of existance, which killed Gabranth's playability, which was my main in the first game. They could've easily made a better and balanced Dissidia game, but instead we got NT. NT was built bad to begin with, and Square used that to cancel any further Dissidia games. Square completely ignored fan input for what we did like about Dissidia, and what we wanted to add in order to make it better. It breaks my heart that this series not only died, but went out on a whimper.
My friend who also loved Dissidia said that he wasn't quite fond of NT, and despite him being quite a hardcore gamer himself. He told me, NT's battle environment was too crowded for him. Personally, I love the game, it's really ahead of its time, the battle feels unique and revolutionary, basically a smash bros for PSP. For a handheld game, I love how this game is packed with a lot of contents and features, replay is one of them.
Anyone who's had experiences with gacha games and played DFFOO absolutely agrees with how friendly it is. Definitely worth checking out, even if its just for the story (It's SO wholesome)
Agreed, after hearing about it and how it has my husband, Zack, I had my eye on it for some time before I finally decided to get it, and I don't regret getting it one bit.
I played it when it launched it was fun but when I lost my account after they remove the Facebook link and added the Square Enix one I gave up on ever playing it again since it was impossible for me to get my account back.
@Dinomight125 damn that sucks, I also used to play mobius but then my phone broke and i switched to steam but I fell out of playing it on steam and couldnt dl to my phone type, then later when I got a new one it was DEAD 😭😭😭
11:12 actually the maxxed feral chaos fight is winnable, albeit tedious as heck to pull off............ only drawback tho is even if you do go thru the hassle of beating them, you get nothing to show for it whatsoever
I have played and finished it twice, on both Original and 012 Duodecim. This is by far one of the greatest game I've ever played. It's true that Dissidia gameplay is early on that time.
I've been hooked on the app since launch, gave me the Dissidia fix I've been craving since. It's extremely generous and once you're done with the grinding parts you never really have to worry much about it ever again until a new feature gets added. Also love how every character in every series gets to interact for the story.
Yeah, alongside Cookie Run Kingdom, Opera Omnia is one of the most generous Gacha Games I've ever played, because even if the character you want isn't featured on the current banners, you can still get them for free during the story and during the Lost Chapters too, which you unlock after Act 1, Chapter 1, and once you finish that chapter, the game *REALLY* opens up and lets you do what you want from there, take on Raid Bosses, go through Lost Chapters and get the characters you want, and you can do the acts in any order you wish! (Act 1 has you go through the chapters in order, but for Act 2 and 3 (and possibly 4 once it's out for global servers) you can do the chapters in any order, now granted, I'm still going to do them in order because that's how I am, but I like the thought of it for those who don't want to do it in order)
Honestly, I can understand why NT is such a huge departure. Different structure of game, especially something like an arcade game where you fight against others, requires retooling things. The problem is the Single Player modes get way too annoying with enemy Just Guards and Online just sucks because of laaaag...
Ahhhhh man i have such fond memories of playing Dissidia and then Duodecim on launch. I 100%'d Dissidia but never could beat that crazy max-power Feral Chaos in Duodecim. Kinda sad i lost my PSP. lol I didn't end up picking up NT but always thought it looked incredible and I have to agree with you about wanting to see a true sequel because honestly, Dissidia Duodecim is one of my favorite games of all time. It was SO much fun. The Labyrinth mode is the ENTIRE reason i started getting into roguelikes and still love that kind of game to this day honestly. Thanks for shedding some light on these games! This was great! Definitely gonna check out more of your content. You definitely earned yourself a new sub. :)
Me over here randomly remembering playing the first psp game as a demo none stop for 3 weeks without ever buying it, and then forgetting about it till right this moment.
Im so excited for NT when it was announced. then i found out that its 3v3 and some mechanics from the previous two games are not present.. its a ssd day
Glad you could fish for some more decent comments on NT. My NT section would be shorter. "It's pretty. That's the good thing about it." But I also realize it's basicly a port from the arcade, rather than the much loved PSP variants, so.. Glad I have the PSP and both of those still!
DFFOO is one of the most f2p friendly gacha games I’ve ever played! If you are a fan of FF it is a fun game to play. Sure the grind may take a long time because it’s been around for a few years, but once you’re caught up it only takes 2-5 minutes a day to get resources.
A remake of Dissidia 012 would be a blast! NT offered amazing graphics but just cannot match the customization and gameplay that Dissidia 012 had. Dissidia 012 is the only game so far that had me play for over 450 hours and only ever stopped when my PSP broke.
Back in the distant year of 2018, I used to be such a huge Final Fantasy fan (nowadays I’m more of a MegaTen guy), and Dissidia NT was my introduction to the series. I remember when Cloud and Sephiroth were the only FF characters I knew, and all the wonder and intrigue these new and unfamiliar characters invoked in me. Coupled with Massive Explosion, one of the greatest songs in video game history, and what I had was an unforgettable experience I wish I could relive all over again. I pray for a new Dissidia game sometime in the (preferably) near future.
I remember when people would literally mod the characters to have more outfits or just be totally different characters. One mod changes Feral Chaos into Bahamut from FF8
What’s crazy is NT isn’t that bad of a game it’s just a HUGE downgrade compared to Duodecim. If NT was the first Dissidia produced then it would’ve been better recognition.
I put so many hours into Dissidia and 012 on the PSP… so much fun. Also, the Dissidia mix of Force Your Way from FF8 is probably my favorite boss tune from the whole series.
same. dissidia 012 was a dope. when the game release, i immedietly bought the game. and enjoy it. i still played it today on PPSSPP. i haven't tried NT. but i was aware of NT release since i was hyped with soul calibur 6 back then. i'm not into dffoo. just not for me....
Fun fact, the original dissidia is my first encounter with FF francise. I instantly fall in love with the character design at seek out other games from ther e
The first dissidia is something that will never happen again , lucky are those who lived to see it but we outta move on . A game like that is never going to happen again
Truth. They can't even make decent sequels for it these days -- I wouldn't be surprised if after NT they just wrote the series off and never touched it again. They had an amazing game, they infinitely dumbed it down, and now it's just an amazing relic that will probably never even get so much as a PSN port.
True, it comes from a time when unlocking things was a gameplay element and not an monetization element. Developers cared about the fanbase and the love of the series, adding easter eggs and interactions that cross over the cast. these days? its all about how to extract money.. you can see that considering on steam ALL the dlc for NT came out at something like £800...
It's so cool to me that you mentioned you've been playing Dissidia for years and when I check your past videos I see a Dissidia video from 9 years ago. Also it's such a coincidence that my friend just told me about Dissidia so I wanted to find a youtube video about it and you made this full coverage/series history video recently.
I know this isn't a very relevant franchise nowadays, but you should play the Sly Cooper games. I mean everyone should... But I think it would fit into your style of videos, they're super fun and there aren't a lot of games in the franchise!
What a bummer that NT died before Zack come out. I really wanted to see Zack and Cloud reunion so bad and Dissidia series is the only one who can done it but they failed to deliver it in DFFOO. They're not even making a scene where Aerith surprise to see Zack again 😭😭😭
you barely scrapped the surface of Dissidia Opera Omnia, the very beginning is the grindest part (specially the Summon Boards) but after that to fully leveling up any new character takes around 2 hours (90% of that time is getting Summon Board Points because it is the only part of the game with play limit). plus the amount of character go beyond main games and main cast, in the japanese version got Yuna's father Braska as playable character.
Veterans will even get to the point where they have enough resources to max a newly released character in an instant. Also, in terms of gacha, being a GL player helps as you see the banners in advance in JP side, with planning you can complete all content while accumulating gems. Just got 1M gems on hand.
yeah, and even the summon boards aren't a big problem anymore, since we can save wild points to expend in any character... we can have a new character maxed out (aside from weapons :v ) some minutes after they are released... and it's really a great add, being able to play as those important characters that were never playable on the original game... I'm looking forward for Braska and Enna Kross... and I heard Lunafreya will be the next character for december (can't wait to see her interact with everyone)
Original dissidia and 012 hold a special place in my heart. I remember being obsessed with the daily kupo mails and I'd even plan ahead for sundays when you'd get double everything.
If you lived in Japan and play the arcade, you’ll enjoy it. NT is better on the Arcade than Console if you ever get a chance to play it because you're just fighting and that's it. For console, you want more bang for your buck like a story mode, which NT on the console doesn't deliver.
@@deathseekergibbsy I believe there was a good game under all the bullshit in NT. There was a reason the game got support for so long, with a small but generally pleasant community. Trueblade Seeker got me back into it and while single player is lackluster, the game doesn't feel nearly as bad to control as I thought it would. There's a lot of cool stuff you can do in NT, but you have to spend hours in gauntlet mode just to get to the fun stuff.
Man I remember discovering Dissidia the first time on my PSP. I've always played every single Final Fantasy game up to this point and still to this day. I spent entire nights playing this game and took it to High School where I kept playing during the breaks. My very first character I've gotten to level 100 was Cloud which I dropped right after for Ontion Knight who is still my main character now! Absolute love these games and how unique they feel. Awesome video
The Final Fantasy VII demo on the Pizza Hut disc was my first taste of FF franchise, FFIX was my first full game. I never knew these Dissida games existed. I'm going to look more into them, thanks for the upload! Great job!
Personally I don't really think one of the Dissidia Final Fantasy Games is the all time best, but I still enjoy playing the 4. Mainly 012, NT, and DFFOO. I think the 3 games I mentioned before have one best aspect that makes those games stand out for each other (Even though 012 was an enhanced rerelease of the original Dissidia.) Dissidia/012 had the best story and concept, by taking pre-established characters and their motives, and expands them to tell a reimagined story for each of them, while also creating a world where the Final Fantasy Heroes and Villains fight each other in a world where the battle never ends. NT had the best content and gameplay, by giving more content and awesome remixes of the numbered entries for fans, and giving the gameplay a more Kingdom Hearts feel for casual players as well. And DFFOO had the best writing and RPG elements, due to the writing feeling a bit more fan servicey, while also incorporating the elements that Final Fantasy is known for, RPG elements... because, the series, is a RPG series? Overall, I respect your opinion and the video, and I still enjoy playing the Dissidia Final Fantasy Sub Series Of Games. Let's hope the next game in this fighting game sub series is an original sequel. Since Dissidia NT is a enhanced version of Dissidia (Arcade) that was released on arcades from 2015.
One of things I looooove about Dissidia is the theme song variations like Force Your Way of FF8 and Battle In The Big Bridge it's just....*chef's kiss*
When they announced that NT was coming out was I super ecstatic because me and my friends loved the psp ports, we played them for months. Once NT came out I bought it right away and took the day off for it, something I never do for a game. Once I played it I was amazed with the visual aspect. Once I started playing, I was extremely disappointed with the lack of customization and hated the multiplayer. And because of my hate for multiplayer I avoided it, but needed it for the story mode. The game was a fail in my opinion.
Mannnn this brought back so much nostalgia. I got Dissidia for my PSP when I was like 12-14 and I NEVERRRR put that game down. I was on it 24/7. It was a masterpiece. I’ve always loved Final Fantasy and always wished it wasn’t turn based gameplay. Dissidia was the first Final Fantasy where you could run around kickin ass like that. I was addicted the second I picked it up. We need a remaster. We NEEED it.
Eyo the man played DFFOO, it's true that it can be quite grindy but at least it barely has any stamina system unlike other gacha games. Only one part of the content requires stamina but the game gives away stamina potions like candy, so at least if you want to play the game or farm in it, you can just get in and play. The gacha itself is pretty good; gacha rates are decently high and there is a pity system for the stuff you want to pull. Some players in the game have decently sized rosters of characters built up and still have Hundreds of thousands of gems in their disposal, some even millions. The devs are quite generous when it comes to gems you need to pull on the gacha, as well as gacha tickets which are a replacement for gems if you wish to pull.Much like stamina, tickets are given away like candy XD. So for anyone else that's an FF fan and might read this, give the game a try, it's definitely worth it.
Thanks so much for the video and the explanation, i was really excited to buy Dissida NT for my PS4 but i wasn't sure why the metacritic score. Now i can understand, so i'm going tho pley dissidia duodecim. Thanks!
@@Niosai Yeah! And I understood that thanks to ya, I’m going to play it too, but I’m not going to Pay 40 dolars for a arcade game hahahah, I’m gonna wait for a offer and then gonna play it, I love story driven games so duodecim it’s the right call for me now
@@polyboxoftoys There IS a free edition of NT, but the story mode is locked away. It's online play only with a rotating character roster. But yeah, you can't go wrong with Duodecim!
@@Niosai Yeah I tried that one long time ago, but I’m into the story of the final fantasy games and I’m not used to play online, so yeah I’m gonna try it before duodecim, once again, thanks so much for your advices and the video!
NT coulda been the best in the series but ofcourse it was old dissidia spit up and chewed out. Just another modern gaming letdown and one of the bigger ones at that. Series has some amazing potential and the fun factor is top tier.
If you guys haven’t seen the arcade cabinet for Dissidia NT before you should definitely look it it. I was so thrown off by it when I first used it in a Sega arcade lol. It feature 2 flights sticks with PS4 buttons and a big crystal in the middle you use for summons. It honestly felt kinda nice as a controller oddly enough.
I have more than 500 hours in the first 2 dissidias, so yeah, they are worth it. Not just because the gameplay, but the characters and the story. Some of them (like Kefka) are fucking awesome in 3D, this guy steals the attencion of the player in every scene it appears
NT was the only one I hadn't tried, I'm glad to hear about it, I loved the Dissidia series so much and I'm glad you're shining a light on it after all these years, both PSP games are heavily underrated gems and truly deserve some kind of remaster.
the most important thing in DFFOO is managing resources. not splurging on every banner is the name of the game. it will help you save resources for banners that are really worth pulling for end game content. thankfully the dffoojp is ahead by almost 1 year of content, so you can plan your pulls better.. once you get past all the snooze grind the game turns kinda boring honeslty, you only have to play it 1-2 times a week for the new content but compared to other gacha games i think it provides more than enough.
I'm just now playing the FF dissidia the 1st one n 012 it's pretty cool tryna get the hang of the characters and the system has deep depth its 🔥 woo-hoo 2022 psp geez oh yea gr8 vid !!!
As someone who's played (almost) every Dissidia game (I haven't tried Opera Omnia yet), it makes me extraordinarily happy to see that even newer players will agree that the PSP titles were the best. 012's game design aged as gracefully as it first launched. Ironically, I can't hold back my immense disappointment in NT, and I have been playing that game since it first launched. ... I need to retire from NT...
Interestingly, I still have a huge soft spot for the first Dissidia. Nothing beats that golden era when it first came out and some of my friends were carrying their PSP to school with them for wireless battles. My PSP was actually the one that came with the game! 012 is great but didn't capture that magic as much for me, even though it is a better overall game 😁
Because of a person who delete my save from the original dissidia, i have to play it again, then i get 012 completing the game like 3 times(actually going for the 4rth) and i have over 1000 hours of playing, i really love that game
PSP Dissidia was GREAT,i remember mastering Jecht's timed attacks to perfection and then obliterate anything in my path in less than a minute, good times.
Randomly came across this video and now you’ve stoked the fire of playing Dissidia again. My only interaction with this side of FF was with the PSP. I’ll have to buy that then and additional ones. Your synopsis of the first Dissidia game was spot on.
Aww man this video awoke a deep rooted childhood memory I never knew I had! I forgot these games existed, I used to mindlessly play them when I was barely old enough to comprehend them, like 6 or 7.
I remember getting the original Dissidia on UMD for subscribing a to a gaming magazine... Man, I had no expectations going in, and I couldn't believe what a gem of a game I was given
Great video, very nostalgic too!! I remember putting sooo many hours into the Duel Colosseum because it was so addicting just so I could finally buy all of the costumes for each character. I've kept my PSP after all these years because it still want to try out Duodecim someday, but after watching this video I might actually consider tracking down a copy of it!
@Niosai is it possible for you to do an OG / Duodecim combat & movement tutorial guide? It baffles me how there are absolutely NO "in-depth" tutorials on here. I've recently got back into these games and have seen pro players move around like crazy with cancels and other whacky things. I want to go pro as well!!! Pls help
Hell at this point, I'd love to see you try and tackle the whole Kingdom hearts series. The main entries are easy to play through but Re:Coded, 2.8, 358/2 Days, and X are hard to get and not even that fun to go through.
this game was ahead of its time. in the philippines, 2008 was one of the peak eras of DOTA and PC game battle arenas. PSP earns you the "cool kid" title back then but this game is basically one of the "boring" ones for the filipino audiences at the time because people were super obsessed with NBA, FIFA, dragonball, naruto, etc. Basically the rage for PSPs at that time were either sports games or anime games. Safe to say this was ignored by majority of the kids around my age but for me, this game and kingdom hearts became my world. From 2008 until now, this game is still etched into my mind.
I still play Duodecim up to this day whenever I feel bored, and no one near our place who I can play with to duel which feels sad. I used to play with my brother before but I always beat him and he's obsessed with new online games now. And now I'm still obsessed with Duodecim with my phone. I hope this game can get a remake (if there's a miracle).
I actually just bought the Dissidia Final Fantasy NT deluxe edition on steam today for 17 bucks. It has a lot of the DLC and season pass included. Really cant beat that price when all the DLC totals to over 300 bucks lol.
Hey man love the content, but I was wondering if you can try Final Fantasy’s older brother franchise Dragon Quest. “I played (Almost) Every Dragon Quest game” would be hype for me because I want other people to play the series. Keep up the good work dude :)
What should I play next? Let me know!
TEKKEN!!
Play ever assassin's creed game I beg
Castlevania????
Kingdom Hearts :D
every dragon quest game the series is so underrated in the west
Fun Dissidia fact! Apparently the entire series owes its existence to the Advent Children movie, as the game's creators wanted a game that looked and felt like the Cloud vs Sephiroth fight scene (which is also why the launch and aerial back-and-forth attacking mechanic exists)
That makes a lot of sense lmfao
In correct it exist due the a kingdom hearts fighting game that Disney didn’t want to do around the time of birth by sleep, so square made dissidia
@@ravenheart2752 did you have a stroke while typing that? What are you even saying lmao

I highly agree the Dissidia PSP is way ahead of its time. If they just remastered this game or not even improve anything. It still going to be an amazing game on consoles
Just imagine Duodecim
With Nt level graphics
Add some more characters, go further bonkers on the DLC
Yeet that onto ps4/ps5. Slap a 40 buck tag on it

Lets be honest here..
If all they did was bundle in the dlc outfits and re-release alot of us would be happy.
Dissidia Duodecim as it looks on PS Vita would look just as good on the Switch.
I spent so many hours on the original and 012. They're so insanely fun I wish they got rereleased or remastered at some point.
Is there any way to get the original Dissidia Final Fantasy. I saw videos of it and I'm super desperate to get to play it.
@@heatwave1812 the best way is to play it on a psp emulator (ppsspp)

I HAD to try this out as a fighting game fan and now I'm a fan of the franchise!
same here, it made me fall in love with the series
My first was FF2, and I thought it was pretty cool that you could play as the villains in this game
same! i was a normie bc i only ever really played crisis core,, its the only game i could play with my psp (couldn't afford consoles and a TV) then i discovered dissidia and duodecim, now that im older and have money, i wanna play every ff game from the start lmao
they recently remastered crisis core and is gonna release a bundle of the old ff games on the switch,, i really hope this means dissidia is getting a remaster too
Same here for me, except my first game exposure was funnily enough FFX-2 and Dirge of Cerberus, both sequels 😂 But yeah, it made me the big FF fan I am today and the first FF game I completed was FFI, favorite of all time being FFVI and just got back into DFFOO!
Duodecim was god tier, but then NT tried to force me to play online and do boring monotonous offline single matches by hiding the story mode behind that points system. Felt way more clunky too. Which is why I’m buying a ps vita again, just for Duodecim 👌🏻
Duodecim was the best for sure.
I really REALLY hope we can get a new Dissidia that's pretty much just Duodecim, but with more characters and modern graphics.
I was super surprised how much better the mobile game rendition is compared to the original one.
@@starstreamheartlocke652 yeah, the classic final fantasy elements with the character customisation and RPG stuff combined with the unique gameplay were what made dissidia stand out
That is why i think the increased competitive focus kinda hurt the game in the end as you've said
I miss playing duodecim that it made me download nt on my ps4 yesterday.
It would be great! My life IS Kingdom Hearts
I'm subscribing for the potential kh now lol
Oh god. I played 4 kh games and i still don't understand what is happening
You could beat kh1 and 2 around the time it would take to beat one FF game they’re pretty short for rpgs
@@PatternLand depends on the game. The ps1 games definitely weren't much longer than a numbered kh game
I remember being so salty about the Chaos troll that a few years later on an emulator with save state scumming i did actually beat it
It is beatable, it's just every HP move he does is a one-shot and you can never bravery break him, the best strategy is to just learn how to counter his moves with dodging and positioning, and spam HP attacks.
If anyone's interested in what you get for beating him- well:
Nothing. You get nothing. It goes "oh crap i guess you really are this good haha" and then it just moves on
Fun fact:
I played the ROM on emulator and tried some cheat codes for fun. The codes work just fine, except for the final boss, when you go battling against Chaos (also applied to Ferral Chaos). Yeah, that's right, you can't cheat against Chaos.
I beat him without cheating, on the real psp, but I was also a huge try hard as a kid lol.
I looked at the price for the Kingdom Hearts skins and wanted to cry lmao
don't know if it's standard price... but in my country, the third costumes (like Cloud and Squall KH costume, or Noctis from Versus XIII trailers) are more expensive than one character ^^'
I don't mind paying for costumes in a "full priced" game in certain circumstances... but 14 bucks is too much.
@@alexandrap4475 fuck a new phone shouldnt also cost that much
I agree, NT was so bad and disappointing compared to the first 2
Thats if you dont buy the game and stay free to play
@@dominiquesmith6745 It doesn't really matter. That's how much they're piecemealing the shitty "full game" for and is still scummy. At this point I'm convinced that the only teams in all of Square with their heads on right are Yoshi-P's, Yoko Taro's, and Nomura's.
@@thatrandom_canadian well i just got the full game for $18. Other stuff is cosmetics you dont even need
Dissidia exists as pure fanservice and is unashamed of it 100%
It should be mentioned in Opera Omnia that, while there IS a grind, the devs do like to help make it less stressful with various mechanics:
Characters having x2 EXP gain during events
No stamina system outside of WOI (and the potions that refill that stamina are plentiful)
Very frequent x2 Crystal events
Chocobo Feathers to speed up leveling
Auto system which, if combined with a powerful AOE unit like Yuna, makes grinding not only much faster but also semi-AFKable, so you can grind easily while doing something else
Frequent Ultimate Summons support events (the biggest grind so definitely one needs it)
As far as equipment goes, every new character at this point gets a free 15cp weapon, and 35cps have good pull rates and can be bought using Power Tokens.
Everyone is in it together in Opera Omnia, so it doesn't just cater to the top tier of players or the players with the deepest pockets.
you forgot about bts and depends on which version or what time your reading this force weapons too
My man forgot about Burst weapons 😔
There’s just too much now 🥴🥴
I haven’t played in a year or so and I feel like I’d be so behind
I noticed they actually made crystal farming easier recently, I legitimately remember it used to be locked to certain days of the week
Yeah, I'd say Opera Omnia is up there as one of the best games I've played, let alone mobile games.
Can we just talk about how clean that ex core collect was at 5:00 like DAMN
Did we play the same Duodecim. Buddy of mine mained the guy and made him super broken. He was basically always in EX mode
@@dontmatter966 Maybe. I played it daily at community college between classes.
Edit: I mained Gabranth in the first game. I mained Tifa in Duodecim.
I really love 012, I honestly go back to play through the story every now and then
Anyone who's had experiences with gacha games and played DFFOO absolutely agrees with how friendly it is. Definitely worth checking out, even if its just for the story (It's SO wholesome)
If anyone is curious about Dissdia Opera Omnia, trust me when I say, it's worth playing.

It's true that Dissidia gameplay is early on that time.
if NT still had the simple "dash towards opponet" command it would be 10 times better
Kinda sad i lost my PSP. lol
I didn't end up picking up NT but always thought it looked incredible and I have to agree with you about wanting to see a true sequel because honestly, Dissidia Duodecim is one of my favorite games of all time.
I still play duodecim on my vita to this day. It's a fun classic and I play opera omnia religiously (f2p) and it's super addictive
The story in the 1st and 2nd Dissidia was an expansion and a way to contnue FF1, theyre not all self contained.
Ok
I remember when people would literally mod the characters to have more outfits or just be totally different characters.
One mod changes Feral Chaos into Bahamut from FF8
What’s crazy is NT isn’t that bad of a game it’s just a HUGE downgrade compared to Duodecim. If NT was the first Dissidia produced then it would’ve been better recognition.
I liked it playing as cloud was fun once you know your characters movements nd skills it’s actually really fun shame that you can’t go online Nd play
Man, seeing this brings back fond memories. I've probably replayed 012: Duodecim like 15 times
Dissidia NT actually started as an arcade game in Japan.
I’m pretty sure it was meant to be its competition with the Gundam Extreme Versus games.
Yeah, it's unfortunate because a normal traditional Dissidia like the PSP games would've been so much better 😭
Man, I really love Dissidia. Even NT, this video inspired me to turn on NT and try to find a match, but it doesn't seem like anybody is playing :(
I am. If you like 1v1.
Sadly it's one of those games where you either need friends or find a sever of people willing to queue at certain times.
Not worth it
Im getting back into NT. The game is still really fun,and the graphics are still great. If you wanna play with people try a discord.
I though the server was close you still can play online on ps4 ?
Hearing the OST again was so nice, these games on the PSP are just so great, I like to remember my time fondly playing these.
What a bummer that NT died before Zack come out. I really wanted to see Zack and Cloud reunion so bad and Dissidia series is the only one who can done it but they failed to deliver it in DFFOO. They're not even making a scene where Aerith surprise to see Zack again 😭😭😭
im a dffoo veteran and i can say after you do all the summon boards and maxed your first unit etc the grind becomes alot easier
you barely scrapped the surface of Dissidia Opera Omnia, the very beginning is the grindest part (specially the Summon Boards) but after that to fully leveling up any new character takes around 2 hours (90% of that time is getting Summon Board Points because it is the only part of the game with play limit).
plus the amount of character go beyond main games and main cast, in the japanese version got Yuna's father Braska as playable character.
NT made me never want another Dissidia game, it was such a massive letdown, given how amazing Duodecim was
If you lived in Japan and play the arcade, you’ll enjoy it. NT is better on the Arcade than Console if you ever get a chance to play it because you're just fighting and that's it. For console, you want more bang for your buck like a story mode, which NT on the console doesn't deliver.
@@mrdude88 when I visited Japan in 2017, I played a fair bit of it at an arcade. I actually quite enjoyed it in its arcade form
This is awesome! Thank you for taking us through Dissidia. Just started playing the free version of NT but I desperately want to try the PSP versions
ppsspp emulator and ps4 controller will do, dont waste more time with NT
The Final Fantasy VII demo on the Pizza Hut disc was my first taste of FF franchise, FFIX was my first full game. I never knew these Dissida games existed. I'm going to look more into them, thanks for the upload! Great job!
Awesome! Definitely give them a shot if you get a chance. They're a lot of fun, even if they didn't rely on Final Fantasy. :)
Personally I don't really think one of the Dissidia Final Fantasy Games is the all time best, but I still enjoy playing the 4. Mainly 012, NT, and DFFOO. I think the 3 games I mentioned before have one best aspect that makes those games stand out for each other (Even though 012 was an enhanced rerelease of the original Dissidia.)
Dissidia/012 had the best story and concept, by taking pre-established characters and their motives, and expands them to tell a reimagined story for each of them, while also creating a world where the Final Fantasy Heroes and Villains fight each other in a world where the battle never ends.
Bruh Dissidia 1st has best story mode
My guy… did you read the comment? He said the original had the best story.
Thanks!
NT isn't TERRIBLE, it's just not what most people were looking for in a sequel ):
Rip dissidia opera omnia
Moogle: "If you're such hot shit then crush this Feral Chaos with your bare hands, kupo!"
the most important thing in DFFOO is managing resources. not splurging on every banner is the name of the game. it will help you save resources for banners that are really worth pulling for end game content. thankfully the dffoojp is ahead by almost 1 year of content, so you can plan your pulls better.. once you get past all the snooze grind the game turns kinda boring honeslty, you only have to play it 1-2 times a week for the new content but compared to other gacha games i think it provides more than enough.
I like every Dissidia game but my favorite is 012 and Opera Omnia. I hope we will see another entry in the future
I'm just now playing the FF dissidia the 1st one n 012 it's pretty cool tryna get the hang of the characters and the system has deep depth its 🔥 woo-hoo 2022 psp geez oh yea gr8 vid !!!
I just got Duodecim on an Emulator and every fight that i had since then was so much fun i love it
As someone who's played (almost) every Dissidia game (I haven't tried Opera Omnia yet), it makes me extraordinarily happy to see that even newer players will agree that the PSP titles were the best.
Thank you so much! I'm very passionate about Dissidia and I really want to bring this wonderful community back☺️
Aww man this video awoke a deep rooted childhood memory I never knew I had! I forgot these games existed, I used to mindlessly play them when I was barely old enough to comprehend them, like 6 or 7.
Even though I only know her from Dissidia 012 Shantotto became my favorite FF character. I love playing as her and her character is a lot if fun.
@Niosai
is it possible for you to do an OG / Duodecim combat & movement tutorial guide? It baffles me how there are absolutely NO "in-depth" tutorials on here. I've recently got back into these games and have seen pro players move around like crazy with cancels and other whacky things. I want to go pro as well!!! Pls help
This PSP game is way ahead of its time indeed, I used to play it nonstop back in high school
I definitely want to see the PP catalog featured in more games 😳
Hell at this point, I'd love to see you try and tackle the whole Kingdom hearts series.
The main entries are easy to play through but Re:Coded, 2.8, 358/2 Days, and X are hard to get and not even that fun to go through.
I may or may not be a KH superfan who has completed every game multiple times. I'll do a video eventually :)
this game was ahead of its time. in the philippines, 2008 was one of the peak eras of DOTA and PC game battle arenas.
Went back to this video just to say R.I.P to Opera Omnia. It was the best gacha game.
I wasn't expecting Opera Omnia to be in here that's the only game that still gets updates. My first Dissidia game.
That was a walk down memory lane. Thanks
The modding community was pretty big in 012. Soooo many character models lol
The first game was truly love at first sight. Definitely a near & dear gem from my childhood.
I remember playing the warrior of light on PSP dissidia, goat character.
Great video! so I just started playing Dissida (on PSP) this year haha - loving it, and I'm so glad to see people are even still making content.
