I think this might be my 1st youtube comment, but when I saw yours I just had to, it was too ironic. I quite literally just got done watching Rear Window on TCM. (I'm a 21 yr. old girl with an old soul) But heard this song during that scene and immediately googled the lyrics, "to see you is to love you," and was thrilled when Bing and Dean Martin came up, they're 2 of my favs. I don't know how I never came across it sooner. But anyways yours was the top comment, and it was just too ironic haha.
Interesting that its use in "Rear Window" is far memorable than its origin here in this mediocre road movie. Bob Hope turns to the audience just before this scene and says, "Uh, oh -- he's gonna sing. Time to get some more popcorn." The truth is that Paramount owned the song, so they just used it to save money. Check out 44:45 on this clip: th-cam.com/video/DxMft223FUA/w-d-xo.html
Thanks for posting this rarity. As you may know was it featured in Hitchcock's "Rear Window" from 1954 where it played a key role for "Miss Lonelyhearts".
This is so wonderful
I was just watching Rear Window and was knocked out by this.
The first time i heard this song was in the movie REAR WINDOW with James Stewart and Grace Kelly.Yea i remember Miss Lonelyhearts.
