if you do these styles daily i find the teasing tends to make my hair get more split ends personally so i use hacks like that, hair rats are easy and cheap to find even a hair donut cut would work.
@@drmantistobboggangonzodr3961 How do you get split ends? The rubbing action is at the roots. I think for a person who teases their hair a lot, it is super important to use a product that keeps the hair hydrated (maybe an olive oil, a coconut butter or a mayonnaise mask each week), and to never, ever use any heat on their hair. My hair is very fragile, it gets split ends from merely existing, and heat tends to make that worse, so I air dry my hair and don't use curling irons or flat irons. Also, for even healthier hair, skip the dye, and especially skip any bleaching. You can use henna, though, which makes for a more natural look anyway as it is translucent, and bonus points to henna as it is also hair care. Also, if you learn to tease right, it shouldn't damage your hair as much. The way Natalie teases is gentle. Notice that she is careful not to tangle the hair. It's not the teasing itself that damages the hair but rather rips in its texture from tangling.
So glad I came across your channel! Such a big help finding out all these tips and new styles to try. Particularly love this up-do with the red ribbon, so cute! :-) X
Oh my God thank you so much for showing how this is done, I've been to cosmetology school about 30 years ago and we never learned anything vintage! This is so Joan Crawford in Mildred Pierce! I can't wait to try this on a mannequin.
I've done this look as you can tell by my photo but I actually started off by doing the bumper bangs first by teasing then did the rolls but I think your method is much more simple. I am going to buy a bun so I can create the bangs like that...Thank you
It's really not too difficult because you don't have to worry about the front of the rolls because they are hidden. Just make sure you have even sized pieces of hair at each side and you should be able to do it!
Hello! I'm loving watching your tutorials! Would this one work for Rachael's hair from Blade Runner? Her bangs sit lower on her forehead, but it looks similar aside from that...
That was So much easier to follow that the book I bought of vintage hairstyles from Betty Paige! THANK YOU! I have wanted to do this look for ages! Can you do one featuring a garrison hat like many of the military pinups?
Have you thought of knitting one? You could use a regular rat, knit a rectangle out of a fine yarn that matches your hair colour and then cover your rat with that, sewing together the edges and the ends. It might be a little harder to get the bobby pins in there, but on the flip side, they would probably hold better.
Lovely! Not sure I could wear it this way. My hair is very thin and fin, so I don't think I have enough hair to do it justice. I did try victory rolls once and because I don't have thick hair, it didn't look very good.
Thank you for helping me with getting a psychobilly look for the Koffin Kats show I'm planning on going to. The last time I went too one of their shows a lot of the girls had beautiful hairstyles and I wanted one too. Your videos are very helpful. It was a lot easier then I figured it would be to do the victory rolls. The style actually even held during the wind. With my fine straight limp hair I thought this would be an impossibility. Again thank you so much. :-)
Thank you for encouraging another girl with fine, straight, limp hair to go for it! Fine, straight, limp hair is gorgeous, we just didn't know it because modern hairstyles focus so much on loose, natural hair, and the models they are designed on all have thick hair because they are hair models. The hair styling industry is so rigged against us that I have never found a hairdresser who knows what the hell they are doing when they give me a cut. Now I just grow it out and style it because I don't trust hairdressers anymore. One time a black girl asked to touch my hair and she was ecstatic from the feels she got, she said it was like silk, and she said she was jelly. That's when I started to not hate my hair so much. And now with these old school styles, I can put it front and center and feel good about it. 😀
Holy cow, this is nuts! This is the kind of video that gives a person the courage to try something they would never try because it looks so darn difficult. I am going to try this without the rat. I saw another tutorial where the girl separates the middle part horizontally into three sections and teases the front one a lot, then the middle one a little less and the back one only slightly, and forms the bumper from that, using the teased hair as though it were the rat. Then she just smoothes the top gently the way you smooth your hair. I think if you do this without the rat, you absolutely must use hair spray, but I prefer that to rodents living in my hair. 😂 I don't know, my hair is awful, it lacks volume, is super fragile and annoyingly straight, but in exchange for that, it is super silky, and I pride myself on it being touchable, which is why I don't like any foreign objects being in there.
Oooo I've never tried to make it look like one continuous roll but I LOVE IT! I adore the effect of that! It would look amazing with the back rolled up at the base of the neck. Beautiful! Would love to see a more personal video like a get to know you or a q&a video :) xx
I really love your videos. I'm from Portugal and here the pin-up style isn't very common (and I'm turning into one xb) so I'm so glad for you to do this kind of videos. I love it!! I really like to ask if you can do the hairstyle that Marylin had and how she did it. You explain very well so I think that I can do it if you explain that to us. Thank you so much :)))
I'm in Portugal too! And yes, this culture is too conservative for people to dare to do flamboyant 50s. And so you and I are pioneers and we are going to rock this place! 💃 🕶 😂
Hey! How is the ''filler'' officially called? I have no idea where to purchase it in Slovenia :) So a good start would be knowing how this thing is called, haha. Thank you.
Make sure the section of hair you take to wrap around is thick enough to spread evenly over the filler, make sure the filler is close to your naturall hair colour. They shouldn't come loose, actually I find my styles with fillers a lot more stable than without. You can really anchor them down with bobby pins.
Josuke is taking notes
😂😂
I became Josuke with this tutorial XD
Bro I was about to comment that
JOJOOOO!!
I dont remember josuke being so cute 😍
I found a jojo fan huh
Beautiful! 1940’s hairstyles were the best
You're so wonderfully clear! And you make it so much simpler then all the other videos I've watched.
Looks fancy
Well done. Nicely executed and easy to follow.
This has been one of the easiest bumper bang styles I have seen.looks fab.I need to grow my bangs more.
an even easier way is to just use a hair rat, roll up and pin in place! :)
if you do these styles daily i find the teasing tends to make my hair get more split ends personally so i use hacks like that, hair rats are easy and cheap to find even a hair donut cut would work.
NEVERMIND! JUST SAW THE PART OF THE VIDEO WHERE SHE USES THE HAIR DONUT! LOL.

Love!!!!!
Brilliant! The problem is i can't get a filler to match my turquoise hair lol xD xx
Haha! #modernpinupproblems
You can get hair filler from a beauty supply store like Sally and dye it to match your hair. That's what the girls at the reenactment showed me! 😊

Can you please do a full face routine with your foundation, concealer, etc. ? Thanks
