There's something interesting that you younger reactors may not be aware of. At least not fully.
These versions on TH-cam, as good as they might sound to you, are VERY low quality, very low resolution, "copies of copies of copies".
If you ever heard these songs, as they were meant to be heard, on a record or 8-track tape (a later technology, late 60s thru the 70s). Especially an analog record, or a REALLY good, high resolution CD, and over a really high end stereo system, in a room with really good acoustics...your mind would be blown again,
Just imagine the difference between taking a picture with your phone, of a GLORIOUS "picture" of an even more glorious painting in museum, that was painted by a grand master, back in the day. A painting that will inevitably be a bit faded and slightly covered in grime from the decades, and so is, thru no fault of its own, no longer at its best, unless some group of cleaning & restoration artists restores it to its original glory.
And then you react to the faded and time smudged "picture of a picture"...on your limited little phone screen. That's how you're having to experience these wonderful songs, through no fault of your own. You simply don't have the original pristine, full quality, recordings available to you. Nor are they playing back over a "room filling" hi-fi system.
And yet, just like a pretty picture of a picture of a beautiful painting, on a tiny phone screen, is still beautiful, these stunning songs still retain enough of their original glory to be impressive.
And that is the way, the older of us heard these songs originally. Except most of us heard it over a limited car AM, or later, an FM radio, or whatever our parents had in our homes. So it was still not the best. But believe me, it was still better than a TH-cam video on a phone, even over headphones. Because the audio source is original and better.
When you get a chance to listen to 60s and 70s music in "straight through to the speakers" analog, over a great stereo system...you're going to have your mind blown again. There is a resonance, a vibrance to the sound that cannot come through TH-cam for some reason. I think it's an analog thing.
I hope you get to experience it sometime.

Luuurve Roy Orbison. Nobody could sing like him, except as Jovaughn said, Elvis!
The song Blue Bayou is great too. Plus, his song,
Only The Lonely, as people have mentioned and of course,
Pretty Woman. JV might recognise that one from the film of the same name, it was its theme tune!
Not sure this recording is the greatest, but Roy songs like an angel, as always. He had a tragic life but never let it affect his work. I think he had poor eyesight, or his eyes were sensitive to the light, something like that, which was why he always wore the sunglasses?
A lot of rock stars started wearing sunglasses, after Roy!
      Yes, sixties music is brilliant!
ps. I have a theory that all of the male singers, since Elvis & Roy Orbison have been trying to sing like him! 🎶

You probably are reacting to these vintage voices because they are not ridiculously processed like today. Minus a bit of reverb, you are hearing natural voices coming straight from the source recorded on analog systems.
Roy has many hits including Pretty Woman and one that shows off his operatic voice well, the haunting In Dreams, which I recommend as your next Orbison reaction.

You've done this, and "Only the Lonely." Check out "In Dreams."
Many of his songs are sad. He lost hid first wife in a motorcycle accident, and two sons in a house fire.
He wrote a lot of his own material. And he has several songs that don't follow a standard verse/chorus structure but just keep building and building to a climax.
His older voice, such as when he did all these songs in the Black and White Night concert, 25 or 30 years after the original studio recordings, is very good too. Different from his young voice. But each is good in its own way.
