I went out the other weekend in small waves on my 8ft. Had a blast, caught loads of waves, had some nice long rides. The benefit for me was that I wasn't worried about trying too hard, I was just nice and relaxed and enjoying the rides. It lifted my confidence and my enjoyment of surfing re-ignited. Thanks for the videos Ryan.
Hey Andy, I couldn't have said it better myself, that is exactly why I do it. It is nice to just cruise and slow everything down sometimes. Thanks for your feedback.
Always great stuff..I would like to see the smallest weakest waves that you would consider going out in..as a North East UK surfer, to me, those are quite decent conditions..)
Nice vid. The problem (as an intermediate) I have with switching to a longboard when it is small is I can’t see how that is going to progress my shortboard surfing. The ‘ultra groveller’ board seems like the ticket for continued progression.
I agree, the 'ultra groveller' is definitely more beneficial for developing and practicing skills relevant to your shortboard. I really just surf a longboard to get out in the surf on days where even a 'ultra groveller' would struggle. I would rather be out in the waves than not at all.

Fair enough, they certainly weren't the worst waves I have ever surfed...I will put something together for you.
