I'm only 14 and live in Oregon but have been watching your videos for a very long time. someday I hope to get a boat and do a ton of ocean fishing here. love you man.
I remember when I was about your age and my stepdad was stationed at Ft. Lewis. Used to love going out to the sound to fish and catch crabs. It's way different than down in the gulf, but still a ton of fun. You should sucker your parents into a trip down to oregon to dig clams.
Stephen you're videos are outstanding from beginning to end. Consumate professional, relaxing and enjoyable. Thank you for what you do. Rock on and God bless
Man, I love your videos so much. I always wish I could catch some many fish like you we’re getting the boat soon so I’m gonna try to get some spots and try to catch some big fish like you. You’re just a great inspiration to me. Thank you for all that you do and thank you for your service.
I used to fish off Gulf Shores and Orange Beach back in the 80's and 90's and I caught a LOT of fish including some strange things down deep but never a ling. Congrats on an excellent catch. Hopefully one day I can at least taste one.
I watch your videos all the time, just wanted to say I really enjoy them and hopefully someday soon I will be living in Alabama, thank you for your service!!! God Bless you and your family!
I discovered your videos looking for a “how to” while on vacation in O.B. We got lucky enough to catch you at the dock yesterday. Was a pleasure meeting you and we appreciate your service! Hoooaaah
My husband and I love to watch your videos because we are in our '70s now and we don't get to go fishing like we used to do when we were younger. My mother taught me how to clean fish when I was a little girl so I am not squeamish about knowing what the fish is eating I find it very interesting😊
I lived in Daphne many years ago, and kept my boat in Orange Beach. I absolutely loved the gulf and fishing in the Bay. We used to go catch huge Jacks in the Turnaround Basin, but had the most fun out around the oil platforms. You are living the good life my friend. Enjoy it!!
Ive done mostly alpine fly fishing, and I always started the day pulling up rocks to look for insect life, and ended each day (hopefully) examining the contents of stomachs to learn what the fish were eating. You are darn right, its educational! I learned as much from my autopsies as I've ever learned from videos....no offense meant. Channels like this are the next-best thing to having a dad that will teach you, but emptying stomachs is learning directly from the fish what they like.
I hope to get a boat I live in Tennessee but I really wanna move down there once I’m older get a boat and do the same stuff you do. Thank you for giving me hope that I can fish and make a career out of it.
great video, I have never been a fish eater but your catch, clean and cook videos makes me think I need to start, it always looks so good, thank you and keep em coming
My wife insisted that she did not like seafood. We moved to Florida, and I brought home some mangrove snapper, filleted, dipped in seasoned butter, and grilled them. I insisted that she be a good example for our toddler daughter, and eat the fish appreciatively regardless of her distaste. She took one bite, looked me right in the eyes and said something to the effect that maybe she had never eaten real fish before. I am a firm believer that there is a fish for nearly every person. There are many species I don't care for, and many that I do. Try snapper, grouper, swordfish, or triggerfish. If you don't like one of those, I would be shocked.
People that hunt, fish and farm eat like royalty. City living can usually only get these meals if they pay, usually high prices. Growing up, we raised hogs, cattle and usually had 2 gardens. Most of us, 4 boys, we all hunted and fished. Many people would pay a small fortune for a meal we had just on any Tuesday. Great videos
The time, effort, and enthusiasm into naturally harvesting your meal can really make it an amazing experience and flavor that one cannot ever replicate!! I love it. Thank you!
Man I’m from south alabama, over in Atmore. It’s awesome seeing such an awesome TH-cam channel so close to home! Definitely my favorite by far! I’ve learned more about fishing these last few days since I’ve found your channel, than I have in years
Man…that’s was fantastic! Nice cobia! You’re right, they are splendid to eat. And that meal you prepared, looks fabulous! Thanks for sharing it all with us. Always enjoy your channel!
If someone had said I would EVER watch a fishing video I would've said no way, but you my guy have changed my entire perspective lol! I look forward to your next time's so much it is crazy and always find myself smiling at the screen. I enjoy ya so much and feel like I could actually do alot more than I could in years past! Say hi to the fam and that was an awesome and educational clean and cook, I don't know how you do it, but it was interesting!! Have a great day!
Couple of questions. Could you use the cobia head to make fish stock, or what fish do you prefer? How do you keep your fillet knives sharp? Send out or do it yourself? Okay three questions.
I love watching your videos and I was just saying I saw your brother at hooked up and if you see him lately I would appreciate if you told him thank you for being so nice god bless
Hey buddy, My dad showed me your page. We’ve had a house on west beach since 59’, but live in New Orleans. Huge fishing and hunting culture in my family, Dad is currently fishing a 26’ Calcutta out of myrtle grove. My child hood best friend runs charters out of Venice. As someone who grew up fishing not only east and west of the MS River, but little lagoon and GS as well. Recently rebuilt our families’ place on west beach and was not only interested in potentially doing a charter with you, but maybe doing some surf fishing down on west beach and host you at my place. Fisherman to fisherman would love to pick your brain, you really seem to have the surf fishing dialed in and that’s something that’s always been the most foreign to me. Either way you gained a subscriber and I love your content, keep it coming brother!
Sandbars and Bulls have been bad on our side of the Gulf also. They have stole a lot of red snapper from us this year. Really nice Cobia! Keep up the great work!
Another excellent video. I'm landlocked up here in Missouri but I'll get back to the gulf someday. Thanks for all the effort you put into these videos!
Try Cobia cut into steaks.Cut in between the backbone separations.Slice green pepper and onion into rings.Marinate Cobia steaks in Kikoman teriyaki baste and glaze sauce in fridge for 30 minutes.Get a folding rack for the steaks.Put green pepper and onion generous amount on each side of steak.Close basket and place on grill.Baste each side as you grill with remaining teriyaki sauce. When fish is cooked thru, remove from grill, open basket, revealing delicious teriyaki peppers, onion, grilled Cobia.Enjoy.
I had to learn the hard ways about cobra. I was snatching and jerking with the gaff. I learned from an old timer to just stick it on the side and let them ride into it. Kinda let em roll into it. It's hard enough with someone else and even harder by yourself. Badass catch buddy 😊
I've been looking forward to this one! I feel you on interval being more important than wave height. Lake Erie is generally between 2.5-3.5 seconds and even 3 foot waves make it an unpleasant ride.
Hey steven, i love your videos, ive been a fan for atleast several years now and your videos have taught me alot on what im doing (mobile!!) i cant thank you enough, and recently ive been going through a tough time, these videos help me alot
Hey Bama! i have a couple questions: What are some good things to find to catch bait fish? I have a cast net and i don't know what to look at for so i kinda need help.
Hey man I just want fishing in gulf shores Al after leaving your store and one of your employees helped me out so much thanks for making these videos and healping me catch and eat my first pompano
Saw your cobia video, nice one ! I've wrestled many 40 and fifty pounders in the boat on days I forgot gaff. It is a job. Usually in Port Royal sound or st.helena, or maybe the wreck keep on fishing friend!
Those Cobia are tanks! We got lucky enough one day to get 3. We were dropping white bait down for 30 minutes trying to get theme switched over to a pin fish, first drop, bam! Second drop, bam! They for whatever reason love those pin fish when they are in shallow. I suppose same as those croakers, a lot more active, swim down and such.
Love your channel man! You always put out great content. Love that purple and gold set up you used to catch that awesome Cobia… Geaux Tigers! Continued Blessings.
missed your last two videos because i was in hawaii!! went fishing offshore and caught my first ever blue marlin after 8 hours of no luck (except for a barracuda but you know them things!) i am catching myself up and gotta say that was an amazing cobia... hopefully me and my dad can go out on our boat back in the familiar gulf waters!! keep it up!!!
That lemonfish was a chow hound! Probably should be called Croaker Eater! He sure was green! To me, fishing is about fellowship… Someone to talk with, celebrate life, and of course, to gaff feisty fish!
AWESOME day of fishing! Could I ask if you can show us how you tie your knots...cause if they can withstand a shark like the one you caught, it can withstand anything! Thanks! Also, would like to see your mom fish with you.

Let's get it brudda 💪
Jeremy Wade made a dehooker out of a piece of PVC pipe, looked like it worked really good.

Your triple tail video inspired me to go today. Had fresh blackened triple tail this evening.
Awesome segment, thank you

You should do a crabbing vid your always talking about it. keep catching man!!
Ship needs painting too……..
OBTW, fire up the fish cooker, Mama😀🐟😀
Do what mama says Steven 👍🏻
Hey Stephen,
Question: what is your guess in weight for how much meat you harvest off that cobia?
Great vid, yes cobia is great table fare. Have you ever seen them skinned like a catfish?
Eh, they're a little too big for me to do it that way but it's possible!
Let’s go man love the videos as always big dog
Hey Steve what do you think your longest time fighting a fish.?
