Making Red Oak Bookshelves

I made these red oak bookshelves at cost for my parents. The total cost of materials (solid red oak, red oak plywood, pocket-hole screws, woodglue, hickory stain, polyurethane topcoat, and wood conditioner) was $600. Tool costs are not included.

You inspired me to build two red oak bookshelves myself. I have been creating these bookshelves in the garage in my free time for the last month. I bought some of the tools you recommended and built the shelves in a similar fashion to you with a few dimension changes and minor trim changes. I am about to start the finishing process. None at all. The face frame gives each shelf a lot of extra strength.
