Meryl Davis & Charlie White showed a very touching ice dancing performance to a cover version of Michael Jackson's "Billy Jean" by David Cook. This two US figure skaters claimed the silver medal with their performance at the Olympic Winter Games 2010 in Vancouver

I miss these two so much. Such wonderful, artistic athletes with incredible work ethic, sportmanship, and respect for their competitors. Sooo *deserved* their Olympic gold. I don't think I will ever love an ice dance team as much as I love them.

I have always loved this pair. They scate beautiful. She reminds me of a woods faery...so delicate looking and I love how he skates. I hate it when they retire from skating. I loved how Russian born Alexi Yaguhgan skated so passionately in the Men's skate. It is hard finding a male skater to fill his skates. He was such a performer and much loved by the audience. I have found a pair of ice dancers, that I think are great. But even they are not American. But I don't care. I am not in it for the country but simply by the skaters.

Charlie and Meryl's exhibition skating routines are just as different,musically diverse, and athletic than V and M. Guess why they did so well on DWTS and Stars on Ice, where they are not limited to creative requirements of competitive skating. Best all time ice dance team
I always felt when they competed against V and M that both pairs should have shared gold. Both were perfection in their own ways. Great competitors and even greater athletes

Yes, they reversed the medals, so to speak: Silver for Davis and White, Gold for Virtue and Moir in 2010; Gold for Davis and White, Silver for Virtue and Moir in 2018.

What's the difference between figure skating and ice dancing?
there are no jumps and the lifts above the head are not allowed, there are more dance sequences, so that means their feets are really close to each other
tanisha paramba There are no jumps in ice dancing. Ice dancing is like ballroom dancing on ice but that doesn't necessarily mean it's easier. Skating very close to someone without having your blades catch takes practice. Ice dancers have really nice edge work. Also, there are throws and lifts over the shoulders (by this I mean the guy's hands can pass his shoulders) in pairs but in ice dancing those would be illegal. I would say that the element that would help you recognise if it's ice dance the easiest would be the twizzles. Hope that helps!
Ice Dancing is a discipline WITHIN Figure Skating. The question you are probably thinking of is what is the difference between Pairs and Ice Dance. Very basically, in Ice Dance there are no Jumps, Throws, Twists, Death Spirals and all lifts must not have the hands extending above the head(or shoulders) in support of the partner. Also, majority of the skating should be in (dance)holds close together, then there are the Twizzles which are a required element. In the Short Dance, there is also a required pattern within the program that all teams must do, where the steps are exactly the same.

Rules about what each are allowed to do, plus ice dancers are expected to dance to certain rhythms (tango, waltz, paso doble, etc.).

The only difference between V/M and D/W is that V/M skate like they are having a tango. They look like they are truly into one another. With respect to skill levels, both teams are virtually identical. Truthfully, I love watching both teams skate especially in the non-competitive environment like stars on ice.
