Cell is the ultimate creation of Dr. Gero, designed via cell recombination using the genetics of the greatest fighters that the remote tracking device could find on Earth. The result was a "perfect warrior", possessing numerous favorable genetic traits and special abilities from Goku, Vegeta, Piccolo, Frieza and King Cold. He was one of the few Red Ribbon Androids not directly completed by Dr. Gero, instead being completed by Dr. Gero's Supercomputer in an alternate timeline. He is the main antagonist of the Imperfect Cell, Perfect Cell, and Cell Games Sagas.

Cell has the best backstory from the OG days. Cell also fought with the most people and watching this saga for the first time, we had no idea what would happen next since there were multiple conflicts happening all at the same time. His transformations were earned and he worked pretty hard to achieve them. He successfully and fairly defeated and even killed Goku and it took the most OP character, Gohan, to defeat him and in epic fashion with the father-son kamehameha beam struggle. Cell is the best villain of DragonBall.

Cell is truly the most terrifying villian in all of Dragon Ball. With his Saiyan DNA as well as Friezas, he could easily have as much power as Broly if he trained for a few months like Frieza did or even just blow himself up a few dozen times. He is truly the perfect being and if his arrogance from both his Frieza and Saiyan DNA didn't get in the way he would be unstoppable.
He is indeed strong but super buu could beat him, Cell may be a regen god but Majin Buu is literally bubble gum incarnate.

Cell is potentially the strongest mortal in Dragon Ball. If he ever came back to life and trained, there's no telling how much more powerful he would become.

@@striveluna1292 Cell was MADE to be perfect, he has the powers and abilities of multiple characters and races, started off with a high power level, and can transform further by absorbing people. Based on how strong his genetic templates are now, there really is no telling how strong he can become if he actually trained.

When Cell was first introduced the show made him look like some killer from a horror film he was really a cool villain. Absorbing 17 and 18 was actually horrifying back then. If I ever got absorbed the way he did with 17 and 18 and somehow I got released from him I would be traumatized for life
I remember watching the cell saga in the afternoon with my father and cousins. we never missed an episode, its like the best entertainment i ever had. all of us are hoping that goku can defeat cell but shocked when gohan defeated cell instead. the best old days watching this anime with family.

Watching the cell arc made it obvious why the Saiyans were wiped out. Being so easily tricked due to ego and wanting a fair fight/letting them charge up to their final form/the senzu bean fiasco is wholly asinine when the fate of earth rests on their shoulders and they had several chances to actually take Cell out but “MuH FaIr FiGhT”. No wonder Frieza had a field day with them before blowing the planet, and same for the tournament of power arc in super where literally only Frieza and 17 were looking at those fights rationally.
The humans and Piccolo surely knew the stakes, though.

I wish Toriyama would make a 10-episode Netflix series or even a movie with the oldschool design that would focus on android 16 and the actual reason for his creation (which would have been made in the image and likeness of Dr. Gero's dead son). The plot could include what led Dr. Gero kidnapping androids 17 and 18, why he created 19, who rebuilt the scientist himself into an android, and how Cell's ambitious idea came about.
It had to have been Android 19. Gero already successfully modified humans into infinite energy cyborgs with 17 and 18, it’s not hard to imagine he instructed 19 with the data and technology required to transform him into an energy absorption model.
Cell has the best design imo
Cell is most dragon ball fans favorite villain, I am not saying that he is your favorite instead I am just saying that most dragon ball fans love cell mostly because he didn’t just pop out of nowhere like majin buu instead his background came all the way from og dragon ball when the red ribbon army got destroyed.

I remember the part where cell uses Android 17’s voice to try and convince Android 18 to let herself be absorbed by Cell… When I saw that as a kid, it creeped me out so much.
The first way you said Kamehameha, Kameh-ameha, is also correct. As Kamehameha is Hawaiian. Master Roshi who wears an Aloha shirt, who also lives on an small island, giving hints of Hawaii, creates the Kamehameha Wave, named after the Hawaiian King, King Kamehameha.

And I also understand some people would make others feel bad for pronouncing it in the Hawaiian way, because they don't know the connection of Master Roshi & history of King Kamehameha. But imagine if DBZ was dubbed in a Polynesian language. Then they would say Kameh-mehaa.

I took Vegeta's indignation at Goku saying only Gohan can beat Cell as a slight against his own ego. Piccolo is upset because he cares about Gohan, and the idea of this entire tournament riding on 11-year-old Gohan is horrifying to him; he's concerned for Gohan's safety and well-being. But with Vegeta, it's just downright insulting to him that the Prince of All Saiyans has no chance of beating Perfect Cell, and yet here comes his rival's prepubescent son who supposedly has far surpassed the Great Prince himself in terms of power and combat. The one thing Vegeta has going for him in life is his strength and prowess on the battlefield, and yet mere years after Vegeta (an incredibly powerful warrior in his own right/one of the most powerful fighters we've ever seen in the series) meets our gang of heroes, a literal child has overcome him in that field. That's gotta be damaging to Vegeta's psyche. And that's why he's so upset at the very suggestion that it's not Goku who's going to defeat Cell...No, no, no. That would be embarrassing and shameful enough for the Great Prince. No...It is Goku's adolescent son who is going to defeat Cell. That's gotta be brutal for Vegeta's pride. No question about it.
That also explains why Vegeta was speechless when he saw Kid Trunks go Super Saiyan in the Gravity Chamber. It took Vegeta over 30 years of intense, near-death encounters, dying, fighting the monster that enslaved his race, being humiliated half a dozen times, and using magic beans and magic rooms in order for him to finally become the legend of his people. And then his less than 10 year old son who never risked his life or learned to control his emotions is laughing in Super Saiyan while flipping in the Gravity Room and Gokus second and even younger son is also going Super Saiyan and matching his first son, the New Prince of Saiyans
This is so geeky but I appreciate how the artist put an upside down triangle at the seam on his back where his two wings meet and fold. That's a distinct trait unique to the order Hemiptera, an order of insects his design was based on.

I really wished that the first Cell form was more primal. To walk on all fours, not speak but make constant big noises.
His first form was meant to evoke disgust. From the bug like features, the stinger tail, the cockroach wings, to the buzzling sound he made when he flies. It sure felt good watching 16 beat the cr*p out of him.
i never noticed but in Future Trunks time-line Gohan loses his arm at the hands of the Androids and in our time-line Gohan loses almost loses his arm by Cell..almost like an unavoidable destiny

Like Future Trunk said, his version in that Future Time Line had a short life line. But then do Cell really has a life he wants on his own if he is not being program, follow Dr. Gero orders, or even having battle with the Z-Fighters? He definitely needs to absorbs just to survive. Also! Did Gohan really finish off all the Cell Juniors? They were found in the island assisting Android 17 to defend against animal poachers. Since Cell never spit out Android 17 when he reverted back to his Semi Form, who made the Dragon Ball wish to have him resurrect when he was seen in Kid Buu saga because Krillin only managed to have the bombs removed from them??

I was never much of a DBZ fan but I remember watching and when I saw cells first form fighting piccalo I fell in love with his design and I think it’s because in the very early 2010s they would play re runs of the show and the 80’s transformers and because I loved Starscream I think it’s why I loved cell, but then I hated his semi-perfect form, and somewhat liked his Perfect form, but nothing beat that first form, such a great character
