LOL - surely you can place the 'alarm arm' at any interval between two integers. All analogue clocks I've owned work this way. E.g. if the 'alarm arm' is a quarter of the way between 6 and 7, then obviously the alarm will sound at 6.15 - i.e. the price moment the 'hour arm' crosses the 'alarm arm'. Although I do love the idea that the clock has enforced a new mechanical regime upon you, where you can only sleep and rise on a whole number, and you must speak only using 1's and 0's :-D
Mine is the bnc002 and it is extremely silent. I'm using it for 19 years so far! Accuracy is about +/- 10 sec bias per year! It is so pleasurable! I think it is just my lucky one. Not sure if every 002 is the same silent and accurate.
Braun are a decent watch brand, very unique style (imitated a lot in recent years) I have the same alarm clock, also have a Casio of similar style. The Braun looks better. I got mine in order to keep my mobile away from me at night.
