This is the REALEST anime in terms of human emotion and connections. Everyone can relate to this, I almost feel unsettled by how starkly I've been able to look at myself through the lessons in this show. But in the end, I feel like I've gained something great. I know what I want. I want to connect!
OKAY now that i’ve seen the whole thing, i wanted to say great analysis!! though i think in kazuki’s case it’s really worth mentioning the role guilt plays in his problems with haruka-he wants to make haruka happy but doesn’t feel like he deserves haruka and can’t accept that haruka loves him and doesn’t blame him for what happened, and that just hurts haruka more. (seeing kazuki accept it and let himself be close to haruka again made me really happy, since i relate a lot to both sides of their relationship arc haha) also i kind of assumed mabu wasn’t able to tell reo about what was going on with him? i feel like the show would have drawn attention to him consciously choosing not to tell him if that were an option...

This should be the ONLY analysis and review of the show. I've seen so many videos posted by more well known reviewers that just say "basically fetish fantasies" "it's basically pedophilia" or "it's just weird bs and the director was just pulling it out his ass" Of course they're ALL done by American or otherwise English TH-camrs that can't be bothered to watch the whole show or at least do research. It's sad that a lot of people might not watch this video and will never give the show a real chance
Man, it sucks how people who clam to love Japanese media flip over cultural differences because "weird is bad!" Not to say everything Japan puts out is excused by cultural difference, but this show certainly requires at least some acceptance that Japan has folklore that is odd from an American perspective and it's okay to draw from it.
I haven't seen this anime, but I've heard of it and it seems like my kind of anime show. Just because something is weird doesn't means it can't be good or well-written fiction with meaning behind it. Like look at Bojack-horseman for example which is about a talking anthro house who was a sitcom star, now by premise & concept alone sounds weird as hell also may seem stupid to some. But the show itself is actually one...if not the most best showcases of American adult animation in terms of in-depth mature storytelling that tackles realatble life issues and struggles as well as have a good handling of topics like depression, mental illness, toxic behavior/hypocrisy in Hollywood, abuse & so much more from a cartoon about a alcoholic horseman.
