    In this video, I talk about the five major changes that have happened on Amazon KDP this year and what they mean for your publishing business. Some of these changes are ongoing, and others have been announced in the last couple of weeks, and I'm very excited about number five. Amazon KDP is always changing, but personally, I think most of these updates are amazing news for self-publishers.

    Whoa, you're fortunate you weren't terminated for that categories mess. A few self-publishers weren't so fortunate, 5-6 years later after a books release.

    • @TrevorSomerville

      The interesting thing is that my categories were setup to be relevant to the book, not to game the system yet I still had problems twice.

    This KDP synthetic narration was done to circumvent Audible's SAG-AFTRA commitments.
    Don't like how they limited pricing though.
    Also, if it's avaible on Audible, how will promo codes work?
    As it stands, even big name publishers are selling +90% of their audiobooks from Audible ALs, not from Amazon directly. It shows you the power of the Audible brand.

      It's a good question and I guess the answer is to wait and find out. I think all things AI is here to stay and likely the most efficient path will win in the end.

    A good narrator wil not be replaced. People often select a audiobook based on the narrator.

      Well as I mentioned I think the premium narrators should be fine, but if AI gets as good as I think it will. Then I’m not so sure the average publisher will opt to pay for narration.

      @@TrevorSomerville Yeah, that might be true for technical books, but I can not imagin it being the case for novels. But maybe I'm just too old...

    Great video! Is there any update (as of 2/24) to the AI voiceover option for the audiobooks?

      I haven’t looked into it since but I know they’re rolling the beta out to accounts at random. I’m hearing a lot of good things about it and it’s still early days for AI.

    And the number 5 is how they are showing reviews on the storefront. It gives an overview of everyone’s review then you can scroll down and read the actual reviews. Kind of a synopsis.

      @TrevorSomerville  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I really like that and it makes a buying decision much easier and quicker than reading 400 reviews.

    Hi Trevor, I watched the free training video and I'm doing some research now. Your videos have been great help, by the way! Thank you! I'm cautiously optimistic about this program but I've never done anything like this, so I'm a little anxious. Do you have any advice for a fellow Canadian thinking on getting into the publishing business? Maybe do's and don'ts in Canada?

    • @TrevorSomerville
      @TrevorSomerville  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hi, I'm glad they've been helpful! Hopefully, you're staying warm. It's been a little colder than usual, hasn't it.
      The best advice I can give is to pay for a course or some mentorship because learning on your own or through TH-cam will waste a lot of time and money. I tried figuring it all out on my own and wasted a year and a lot more than the cost of the education.
      When I consider I've done well over a million dollars in royalties and continue to earn over the years, the step-by-step help was the best investment I've ever made.
      I'm finalizing the bonus package for those who sign up for AIA through my referral link, and they should be ready in a week.

      @@TrevorSomerville Thanks for your fast reply Trevor. It's been around -15 here today, but I'm not complaining because I'm not in Alberta. Lol!
      Back to the course, with Amazon making all these changes, I'm a bit concerned that the course might be outdated by the time I'm ready to publish anything, or that Amazon will make it tougher for newbies like me to get into publishing, especially if we're using AI. And don't get me wrong, I'm no writer so I'd definitely need the help of AI.
      Do you use AI Generated or AI Assisted for your books? Do you think readers will hold that against our books?
      Thanks again Trevor!

    • @TrevorSomerville
      @TrevorSomerville  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@spacgonzalez71 Haha, yeah, I'm glad I'm not in Alberta right now, that's for sure. I think one of the things people love about this course is they have about 50 staff members and coaches constantly updating the course with any changes, and that's the benefit of being a bigger company. I've done it all (ghostwriters, Assisted, generated, etc.), and nobody knows or cares as long as the quality is high and it gives them the result they're after.
      I think indie authors don't like that people like us are taking over, but AI is here to stay. Taxi drivers didn't like Uber, and I'm sure Uber won't like it when there are robo cabs.
      Hope this helps!

      @@TrevorSomerville It definitely helps. You're right, there will always be people resisting and complaining about change but I agree, AI is here to stay.
      Your bonus page looks awesome and I LOVE your logo, by the way! Congrats! I will definitely use your link if and when I'm ready to jump in.
      Thanks again Trevor!

      @@spacgonzalez71 Exactly. AI isn't going anywhere, and it's going to make a lot of us very wealthy. Thanks and take care!
